Why is Rivamika do unpopular? And, why do you think most ppl in the U.S ship Ereri?

Though seriously speaking, I’m pretty sure the main reason Rivamika is unpopular is because:
• nobody’s ever actually considered it
• even if they do, their mind probably automatically goes to “pedophilia” and “incest” and that’s all it takes
• some people don’t like having op/two most powerful characters shipped together (which is understandable)
• it gets in the way of their own pairings which, considering the fact that it’s levi and mikasa we’re talking about, isn’t much of a surprise
• plus we’re talking about the two (supposedly) most coldest and introverted characters in the series, to other people it probably looks like they’re unable to form a relationship with both receiving ends having the same personality
I think Rivamika is a ship that you either fall in love with immediately or take a lot of time getting used to and letting it grow on you. It sure took a lot of time for me to consider it, but once I did, there was no going back lmao.
As for why ereri is such a popular ship? Really the first thing that comes to my mind is “yaoi”, but if I say only that I’ll be as bad as the people who I’m defending my ship against 24/7 so
If you put more thought into it, Eren’s role as the protagonist and Levi’s as the badass character probably plays some part in it. And considering their personalities, they actually clash very well. I see their relationship more as teacher and student, but some people also see rivamika the same way, so it really all goes down to a matter of preference I guess.
