For the group, it sounds like something we're going to have to tackle is convincing Thomas that growing up is okay. The Captain is trying to convince to stay here in the Neverland he created.
Logan frowns. They've packed up their things and grabbed their food, tools and materials they can use as makeshift weapons just in case and they've begun to head out.
Logan: "I can't imagine Thomas insisting he doesn't want to be grown up any more. He quite likes being an adult. There are many things all of us enjoy about it. Childhood was nice and somw nostalgia is attached to it, but I don't think he actively wants to be a child. Perhaps he is being persuaded into it."
Roman sighs: "My core was part tomy dragon child. I would not be surprised with how magical and strange this place is."
Remus: "Yeah honestly this place slaps. It's just as good as if Ro and I had designed it."
Dark and sinister man, have at thee!
Two clash blades and Captain grins and darts around having the time of his life.
Captain: "Fun! But why are you grown up?! We don't need grown ups here we don't have to worry about stuff we can just play and you don't wanna be a grown up do you?!"
Thomas frowns and drops his hand down. Lowering his sword, he sighs: "You know what? No, I don't...."
Thomas, I think the Captain thinks you're Peter Pan.
Thomas grins. Oh this will be fun! He doesn't want to go away or face what's going on. Play? Play is more fun. Being an adult sucks a lot and especially for him now. Too much bad. He can't remember most of it but he knows it's frustrating and awful.
This is much better. This is more fun.
Stars twinkle above them and dance and Thomas clashes with his own makeshift sword that transformation into a proper sword in his hand. Elated rhat the magic did what he wants he pushes forward and Captain laughs.
Depression coos softly behind them: O̵͝ͅh̷̢͝ ̴͙̌y̴͍̏ë̶̦ṣ̶̀.̸̼͘.̴͓͑.̷͚͛.̴̝̚ ̶̹̃t̷̫̓ȟ̴̳á̷͉t̵̞̿'̴͕̈́l̸͍̕l̵͕̈́ ̵̧́d̷̲̿o̶̩͛ ̸̜͂ṅ̷͍ĩ̸̭c̶̫̔ẻ̴ͅl̴̲̈́ẏ̵̠.̷̳̃ ̴̠̇D̸͇͛ö̶̠́n̶̛̥'̴̰͋t̸̆͜ ̷̲̿l̶̼̋o̴͕͛o̷̟͐k̴͇͠ ̵̮͗ḇ̶̇a̶͚͝ċ̶̺ḳ̴̚.̶̖̈ ̴̻̏S̷̮̊t̸̯̊ã̴ͅy̸͍̓ ̴͉̊a̸͉̒ ̶̖̉w̵͇͝h̶͓̀i̷̫̇l̸̫̋e̷̟̍.̷̡̆ ̷͙̓
Translation: Oh yes.... that'll do nicely. Don't look back. Stay a while.
Results are in: The Stars Will show Us The Way.
On cue they twinkle and dance above them. You've followed the second star to the right and straight on till morning. Logan watches stars shoot across the sky. The lights dance and burn in his eyes as he watches them sail through the sky.
The stars will show us the way.
Logan nods and looks up at the others: "its time we find Thomas and the others."
Thomas sees the child drawn his sword and looks at the sky mapped on the tower walls and he can see the telescope searching the skies but for what, he doesn't know.
Thomas: "You're the pirate whose been messing up the world!"
Captain grins: "You bet! Fight me!" And he waves the sword. "Cause that's what pirates do!"
We now have polls! Good luck and be careful what you choose.
Pick a Rule To Follow
A Captain goes down with the ship
There are strange songs in the water
Pirates are bound to their vices
There is treasure at the end of the map
The stars will show us the way
If you sense it then it must be true
All shadows are a mask, and masks are contagious
Double the trouble, double the fun
There are faces in the spyglass
To see reality is to see the fantasy, to see the fantasy is to taste the truth
Maybe it's a child's hand because the trauma resulting in you forming happened when Thomas was a child. It's connected with Patton because he had a hand in it too. The world is less complicated when young and he had a clear understanding of good and bad. Until he didn't.
Depression looms and gently holds the child's shoulder: I̧ ͞th̛iņk ́t̴h̵in̢k y̷ou'v͡e̷ ̸hit͝ ͠t̛he̛ n̛ail̸ ̷on ̕t͘h̀e h͘ead.͠
Translation: I think you've hit the nail on the head
Captain, is Thomas with you?
Captain sits at the top of the stairs at the railing of the large Observatory tower and kicks his feet as he waits. He's so incredibly bored but the moment he hears Thomas coming up he beams and stands up.
Captain: "I'm up here!!" He calls and giggles like crazy.
Thomas hikes the stairs and holds a hand out where he has a stick brandished like a sword.
Thomas: "Captain! Was it you who imprisoned us on this island?"
Captain giggles and holds out his own "sword": "no but you're here! And now we can play forever!"
Just spitballing here, Remus, andnonly between you and me if you want, but from my own experience intrusive thought and trauma go hand in hand. A lot my own intrusive thoughts originate with my trauma. I have a sneaking suspicion that Depression might be Patton's other Core and Trauma, the Captain, just might be yours.
Remus nods: "Oh yes it probably turned my ideas much more intrusive if that's what you're getting at. My ideas wouldn't have felt that intrusive without it."
Remus, I think it's Trauma that connects you. Intrusive Thoughts are Depression can both because by Trauma. Yeah, intrusive thoughts can go against morals, but sometimes they're grounded in Trauma.
Remus nods: "I guess.... I mean it makes sense considering there was that whole moral dividing of like.... what's a good idea and what's a bad idea and thats kind of how we formed into two creativities."
Roman hears that too from where he's fishing and he frowns: "I do not like the concept that Remus only formed through Trauma. That implies he needs to be fixed in some way and I don't believe it. Not any more. I think its more nuanced than that, I think whatever caused the trauma also caused him to form but I don't want people thinking Remus himself is somw kind of trauma that needs to go away."
Trauma (dont call them trauma when you find them, call them Captain) Sees you, the sides, as the Lost kids, and Thomas as Peter pan, Maybe play into that? Depression is something akin to trauma's shadow. Thought you should know Remus
Remus runs a hand through his hair and nudges Roman: "We know all about forming with a shadow of sorts."
Roman chuckles: "though we always debated who the shadow was we decided a Ling time ago that I was the good twin and Remus was the evil twin and mind you- he always wanted to be the evil twin."
Remus: "That's true."
The others all gather themselves together. It's time for breakfast and they all agree to eat before they tackle this. Logan gets the fire going again and Virgil heads out with Roman to fish. Janus and Remus just sort of lounge with nothing designated to do until food happens.
Tell me, whoever cares to listen: Would you rather be Captain Hook, the epitome of adulthood or Peter Pan, the epitome of childhood? Or the third option: Wendy?
Janus, and Remus laugh: "Captain Hook!"
Roman says: "Peter Pan!"
Logan and Virgil say: "Wendy."
Patton tilts his head: "Is there an option to be Michael's Teddy Bear?"
Captain, can you tell us about the buildings and show us the way there?
Captain grins and you see him climbing up towards the buildings. As before they look quite a lot like a temple- but not so much like a church as a faerietale temple. Stained glass windows show stara and moons and planets. There's a large sphere at the top of the building in a shimmery golden kind of material.
There is something large which sticks out at the top-
Oh! It's not a temple at all! It's some kind of fancy Observatory!
Location unlocked: Observatory Tower
Intrusive thoughts and a person's morals are inherently linked, they tend to go *against* your morals and values, it makes sense you might have a core in common.
Remus isn't so sure but for the sake of everyone else he's willing to try and believe anything right now.
Remus: "Ok. We will go with the assumption that somehow Patton and I are connected through... potentially depression or Trauma though I'm leaning maybe to the latter..... somehow.... But either way, that means that the ones who should be dealing with these two is Patton and I and the biggest problem is that whoever they are... you said they're making this place Neverland? We might have to play the game to get close to them. Especially since they seem to have sway over Thomas."
Remus, you were the only other Side with only one Core thus far. Are you sure you don't have any other handprints either?
Remus makes sure there's no one else yo hear you: "Maybe. But you have to understand that it's weird to have a matching one..... like thats weird right? Why the hell do Patton and I both have it if that's meant to be Trauma? Like I get that I'm an ass sometimes and I delight in making people uncomfortable but I shouldn't specifically have the kind of emotionally damaging innocence-corrupted trauma that Patton is probably harboring....."
You get a good view of a matching one on his chest like Patton's. They are identical.
Remus: "And for that matter why doesn't Roman have a matching one since we're brothers? That makes me think it's not a creativity... ego.... dreams and fantasies based thing...."
Patton, do you still have any handprints?
Patton rouses incredibly slowly. The others catch with that Thomas is missing and they're up and exchanging dreams but it takes a lot of shaking to wake Patton who groans and rubs his eyes.
Patton: "handprints? I dunno.... does anyone see any?"
Janus looks him over and shakes his head and Remus frowns.
Remus: "Patton take your clothes off- stop yelling just do it. We don't know if anyone actually has all handprints off unless we actively see ALL parts of our bodies...."
Patron very much doesn't like this but reluctantly obeys.
There across his chest above his heart is a small child's handprint.
Roman, remember the crescent shaped harbor we mentioned? Thomas was drawn there. We haven't seen him yet, but we've been talking to the folks over there. I tried to send Remus a message too in his dreams.
Anonymous: Are we able to get a status update on Thomas?
Thomas has been winding his way through the forest. He passes parts of the ruins where the Bear had been treading and heads farther, up towards the crescent beach.
The wind is gentle and smells of salty sea air, a scent that doesn't really permeate the forest or the clearing with its fresh water and waterfall.
He looks down farther along the shore ans sees waves gently lapping at a myriad of drawings. He looks farther still and sees buoldings- ruina of a temple of some kind.
Thomas isn't feeling himself.
Hea giddy and excited and he remembers playing with his brothers as a kid- something new to latch onto as he hardly remembers anything else. They would watch movies and play and this particular one has him remembering lost boys and wanting desperately to be one.
That feeling didn't ever fully go away.
Not when Thomas was not like what everything tells tou you ahould be. Not when he was different.
That guilt shouldn't be gnawing at him and instead it's shifting into a stubborn fight to just exist as he is in this place that can be anything. He doesn't notice his clothes looking more ragged or his need to go barefoot. He'd run and fly if he could but that's a bit much even for his imagination. Instead he descends the rocks and races down the beach to find the Captain.
It's time to talk about staying.
