"Hello everyone! My name is Shadow Robotnik, my friends and family call me Sunshine so all of you can too if you'd like! Apparently I'm not as brooding and grumpy as other Shadows out there in the multiverse tend to be. Feel free to ask me or my husband Sonic any questions you might have on your mind but please keep it PG-13, okay? My creator has a few more rules listed below that she wants everyone to know as well, you can ask questions for her too if you want to! I'm sure that she's looking forward to your questions just as much as I am!"

It was night by the time Sunshine came to. He sits up with a groan and slowly opens his eyes, only to be met with the sight of dozens, if not hundreds, of glimmering crystalline stars falling from the sky and bouncing across the ground. The sight was so breathtaking that he momentarily forgot where he was...until a wave of nausea hit and he throws up in the grass. Oh yeah. He was on some Chaos forsaken island in the middle of Gaia knows where, feeling ill for one of the very few times in his life and his husband had been turned into a corrupted cyber statue...

"SONIC?!"

Sunshine stands up too quickly and a surge of dizziness sends him stumbling back down onto his tail, or at least it would have if not for the pair of translucent hands that had caught him.

"It's you. You're that girl I saw with Eggman"

The little girl makes sure that Sunshine is steady on his feet before bowing politely and introducing herself, the pixels across her body flickering between blue and red.

"That is correct. I am Sage, daughter of...creation of the magnificent Dr.Eggman. And you are Shadow the Hedgehog, husband and rival to Sonic the Hedgehog, correct?"

"Yes...how do you know that? What's going on here?"

"Allow me to explain"

Sunshine looks confused and more than a little worried about the current situation as he looks around to try and spot Cobalt and their friends while Sage explains everything that had happened since her activation when Eggman had first arrived on the Starfall Isles.

Sunshine found himself at the base of another massive tower after wandering around for awhile, looks like he had no choice but to head to the top if he wanted any answers about this place and how to find his husband and their friends. He circles the tower to try and find a way up, only to discover what appeared to be a pulley of some kind that lead straight up through the layer of thick fog that had settled over the landscape due to the heavy rain that was coming down.

Taking a deep breath to steady his nerves, Sunshine grabs the pulley and is immediately yanked upwards at breakneck speeds that make him nauseous yet again. He shuts his eyes until he feels himself stop moving, only to be met with the sight of his husband standing frozen like a glitchy statue with Amy, Tails, and Knuckles circling around him hand in hand while Eggman and a strange little girl hovered nearby in the Eggmobile. What the hell is going on?! What happened to his husband?!

He jumps down from the pulley and runs towards the others, a hand reaching out for Sonic just as the group is enveloped by a bright red light and everything goes black.

"SONIC-!"

Sunshine was suddenly jolted out of his day dreaming by a loud rumbling sound and the ground violently shaking beneath his electric cage until the walls suddenly sparked and faded away, dumping him face down in the grass. The hedgehog laid still and squeezed his eyes shut until the shaking stopped, leaving him nauseous yet again. At least he was finally free, now if only his stomach would stop doing spin dashes...

"Well, at least I can finally start looking for Sonic and the others now...woah" He mutters to himself as the nausea passed and he could open his eyes without getting motion sick, only to be met with the sight of a massive tower that stood only yards away from him. Was that there the entire time? He doesn't remember seeing that kind of shape in that direction while he was still trapped in the cage.

"Nope. Nuh uh. Noooo way. Much too high" He shakes his head at the thought of being up at such a great height without someone like Rouge or Tails around in case he fell "Absolutely not. Not happening"

He turns around and starts walking in the opposite direction, deciding to check his wrist com for any messages that may have gotten through to him since he last checked it.

since this story is clearly heading into a retelling of frontiers, what does sunshine's memory tokens looks like???

Have you ever met any versions of yourself or your friends from other universes or timelines? What were some of them like to interact with?

"No, not yet. I've heard of some of the different Shadows out there but I haven't met any of them personally yet, I would like to meet them someday though!" Sunshine replies, glad to have something to do to keep his thoughts occupied while he was stuck here. He had already lost track of how long it had been since he had woken up in this strange cage, the flickering red walls didn't allow him to see through them to determine the time of day but he could hear the sounds of distant waves and bird calls and he could smell the distinct scent of his favorite flower. Lavender. The scent was strong enough for him to imagine that his prison must be either near or directly within a large patch of the purple blooms.

At least he was able to figure out something about his location.

New Frontiers

"Ugh...what the hell just happened, did we make it to...huh?"

Blue eyes slowly flutter open with a groan from their disoriented owner. The last thing the dark hedgehog remembered was feeling the start of some rough turbulence while chatting with his husband and their friends on The Tornado, now he's here. Wherever here even is. Electric red walls obscured his vision, although he could still hear the muffled sounds of birds flying overhead and tiny voices cooing and jabbering around him, most likely Chao. Sunshine stands up to examine his cage for any possible weak points, but finding none he decides to simply destroy it with a spindash anyway.

Bad idea.

As soon as his body made contact with the bright red walls an intense feeling of nausea and dizziness overcame him, leaving him sprawled out on his back until it subsided. Okay. Clearly escaping on his own wasn't an option this time. Oh well. Sonic was probably already trying to find him anyway. It would be best to just send him a message and wait for him to show up.

But upon attempting to send the message he realized that despite having full reception, he couldn't send anything out. Although it appeared that he could still receive incoming messages, as with a small ping a picture of Sol playing outside with Cream and Cheese lit up his wrist com's screen along with a text from Vanilla. A smile crossed his face despite his confusion. At least his son was safe and having fun.

"Might as well check my inbox so I don't die of boredom" He mutters to himself as he sits cross legged on the floor.

Just A Heads Up!

Going forward my going to be testing out a new style of posting on this blog. I'm going to try posting shorter story snippets so I can possibly be active more often, I'm also going to try replying to asks with art instead of just text responses more and I'm going to try posting more art here in general. And polls! I'm going to start doing polls when I feel stuck on what to do with the story next or even just to check in to see what you guys would like to see more of from me!

I'm not going to be starting over from scratch again, I'm just trying out a new approach to see how y'all like it.

Expect a new promo post soon too!

SUNSHINE AND COBALT'S WEDDING

Is this blog discontinued? The last story update was over a year ago. It would be a shame for it to rest unfinished after so much work went into the writing and character designs. I know the story had to be reset once already and starting over from scratch can be discouraging but I hope that you can find the motivation to keep on writing your story if you still have the desire to continue it someday.

It's still active! The past year has just been difficult for me and my family so I haven't really had the time or motivation to write very much, I'm hoping that this year will be different though! I've been working out the details of how I want the story to go, I just need to actually start writing it 😅

Admittedly the lack of interaction this blog usually receives has been a little discouraging too, more so than having to reboot the plot actually. That and another, more popular AU (that I enjoy alot!) with a VERY similar plot popped up right after I had to reboot my blog and I don't want to deal with any drama or accusations of copying them when that isn't the case. I do plan on continuing the story eventually (I'm just not completely sure when) and answering any asks that I may get in the meantime!
