Let's Ask The Doctor!

An askblog for my own take on Doctor Whooves, made through the medium of Pony Town and talksprites!

"'Ello to all! I'm The Doctor!"

He says, double-checking that his Union Jack tie was all good before continuing with his introduction.

"I'm broadcasting from my TARDIS due to unforeseen turbulence knocking her out of sorts, and I need something to pass the time. This ol' function is getting some proper use now!"

After explaining that, a lighthearted laugh came from The Doctor. His expression would then change as he moved onto the next topic.

"I'm very much aware that I am but one of the many Doctors that exist across space and time. To distinguish myself amongst them, I'll take on the secondary moniker of 'Talkie'. This moniker comes from the fact that I fancy myself a conversationalist."

Talkie states. His expression changes once more with the progression of this broadcast.

"I've got the terminal set up so that it can receive messages from any and all that are tuning into this broadcast. Impressive, isn't it?"

Talkie further explains, with a confident wink. His expression changes one last time.

"I'm looking forward to seeing what messages I may get! They'll surely make for great conversations! Cheers!"

I agree with Talkie for once on Quiet being an utter fucking plank. Who, in their right mind, collaborates with a fucking Dalek?

"You're telling me that Doctor Q not only spared the last Dalek after committing a genocide on them, but is also collaborating with them."

What this message brought was a shadowy expression, wide-eyed yet devoid of any warmth. Good thing his T.A.R.D.I.S is currently incapable of traveling or else...

With such unfortunate timing, Sol entered the T.A.R.D.I.S to visit Talkie in his free time as usual.

"Hey, Talkie—"

He cut himself off upon seeing Talkie's intimating expression.

Hearing Sol speak, Talkie turned to him and responded.

"This isn't a good time. Please leave for now. I don't want to involve you in this."

Sol nodded and stepped out. The hardworking mailpony is the first companion Talkie has made in this new universe and bringing him into this mess could put him in unnecessary danger.

Do you scare of Dalek Talkie ? Because I have one right here.

A Dalek??? What sort of situation has Doctor Q found himself in since his last message?

"That doesn't matter as I would immediately travel there if I could."

A serious situation calls for a serious attitude. Even if Daleks can be dealt with, that doesn't diminish what they're capable of.

"I need more details about the Dalek in question."

*leaves a basket of bread*-Gerald ^-^

"More bread, how nice!"

As with the first gift of bread, Talkie was having thoughts about this.

If I continue to get more of these food gifts, I won't have to fiddle around with the food replicator as much.

Have you ever met Sunny Starscounts and her friends?

They are good kids Talkie, I recommended meeting them.

Seeing a new message pop up that wasn't from Dial made Talkie's scowl disappear. It was from Doctor Q.

"I haven't, but I'll keep note of that as a travel point if I'm able to get the T.A.R.D.I.S ready again."

He'd have to ask Sol if he knew anything about them. The mailpony has been a great help in learning about this world he found himself in.

Have you tried becoming bread?

The perspective has now shifted back to Talkie inside his T.A.R.D.I.S doing the broadcast as per usual.

Dial has returned to being a nuisance to his inbox once more. At this point, he reflexively scowled upon seeing a message of his.

"'Becoming bread'... is this your purposefully vague way of asking if I've tried the loafing position?"

Well, whatever keeps this broadcast going. Not the worst question that he could've asked.

"I won't deny that I have. It's a fairly comfortable position to sit in. I prefer to sit on my haunches for the purpose of this broadcast."

So what's solar up to?

The perspective has suddenly shifted to the post office that Sol works at. He appears to be speaking with Fruity Delivery, his senior. Let's see what they're talking about.

"Our uniforms are finally complete! Sure, the shirts took a bit longer since they had to be tailored for different sizes, but it was worth the wait!"

Fruity Delivery says to Sol. She's definitely excited about this achievement.

"It looks good on you, Sol. I bet you could be the face of our post office."

"That'd be a lot of pressure."

A fun work chat. How entertaining!

*leaves a big box of banana muffins for talkie and solar*-Gerald

Talkie is a bit surprised to see a box—much less a box of this size—be sent to him.

"I appreciate your gift of banana muffins. It'll be great to have."

Internally, Talkie was contemplating something else.

I'll have to eat these since Solar Flare doesn't seem to be interested in them. At least they can be useful if I'm feeling peckish.

"I think they've got quite the interesting history as a traditional headdress."

"I doubt that forcibly transitioning Teal Master into a woman would actually do anything as a solution if that's what you're suggesting."

Talkie comments in response.

"You might also be dumping a piece of your search history in an act of absurdism."

He adds onto his previous comment.

"is everything alright Talkie....?Who was that?"-Editor

"....."-Timey

"As he said, that was The Master—or rather a Master. Just like I'm one of many Doctors, he is one of many Masters."

Talkie had taken some time to regain some of his composure before answering this message; even so, the seriousness of his tone remained.

"It remains ambiguous whether he is a Master native to here or from somewhere else."

Facing a Master that wasn't his own put Talkie at a disadvantage. He could pick up that Teal Master was starting off with paranoia tactics, but without prior knowledge about how he acts, anticipating his next move would be nothing more than a presumption.

"I am especially not in the mood right now to address these wistful connotations in your message."

You've heard it directly from the horse's mouth.

At the moment, Talkie was lying down on the floor of the T.A.R.D.I.S with the two red cushions as support in front of the broadcaster in wait for new messages. Sol was still at work for the day so The Doctor was all by himself at the moment. 

Talkie's ears started to twitch upon hearing a static noise coming from the broadcaster. He got up from the floor to take a look at what was going on.

"What's the ol' broadcaster acting up for?"

It took few minutes for the static to stop.  When it did, it showed a live video broadcast from somewhere else. A T.A.R.D.I.S quite like his and sat in front was... a pony which he felt instinctual recognition of. Even so, Talkie didn't want to believe that it was possible.

Who sat there appeared to be an older Earth Pony stallion which had a distinct teal-colored coat paired alongside a brown with gray-streaked mane and striking golden yellow eyes. He wore a burgundy collared blazer that had amber buttons with a jasmine-colored shirt worn underneath. A gold stopwatch marked on his hip. The moment he spoke, his identity couldn't be denied any longer.

"I trust you can hear me, Doctor, because I won't be repeating myself."

"By your expression, I know you've already recognized me. Allow me to introduce myself for your audience."

"I am The Master, but for your brains to keep track, I will allow you to also know me as Teal Master."

"I've been watching you, Doctor, and will continue to do so. I'll leave you with that."

Just like he said, Teal Master's live video broadcast ended and the broadcaster returned back to normal.

Long time no see, Talkie

"'Ello! It has been quite a while, Doctor Q!"

"Since we last spoke, I have met a pony who had gotten lost and stumbled upon my T.A.R.D.I.S; furthermore, he's incidentally been roped into doing this broadcast with me. He's here with me right now."

Talkie scoots over on his red cushion to give focus to Sol.

"Hey Doctor Q, I'm Solar Flare. I work as a mailpony first so I try coming here when I'm off the clock. Sounds like Talkie's friendlier with you than the other Doctor I've seen message him."

"If it helps, I think you have very lovely looking ears"-Editor

"I appreciate your compliment, Editor."

"I'm sure there's another Doctor that would love to hear this too."

This is the beauty of interactions because the timing of an interaction can influence how one approaches other interactions. Case in point right here.

Wild ears! You've got to have some donkey somewhere in your family tree.

Look, a new message! Even though Talkie believed that the messager here didn't have bad intentions, the message's phrasing is rather blunt and exclamatory.

"I thought for a moment when I first saw myself that—if as some cosmic joke—I had been turned into a donkey."

"Since then, I have discovered that I'm an Earth Pony that simply has donkey-like ears. I'm still willing to attribute it as a slightly more nuanced cosmic joke."

"Our ears are perfectly normal lengths."

"Affirmations such as that can be helpful with accepting how we look."

There was an underlying passive-aggressive edge to how Talkie spoke here that betrayed the positive expression he wore.
