Now - listen! I’ve seen you around— don’t think I haven’t! You lot like to make a show of yourselves, and people are bound to notice. You’re bold and you’re loud and you’re brash because you think that anonymity protects you, gives you strength, gives you a voice. Well, the fact of the matter rests as this: all it does is prove you’re less than what you could be.

I don’t know why you go around spreading nasty rumours, and scattering harmful words. Maybe you’re insecure, and jealous, and the only way you can deal with that insecurity and jealousy is by making others feel just as bad as you do.

But I’ll tell you right now— it won’t make anything better! Hurting others isn’t going to make you feel any better about yourself. All you’re doing is piling guilty syrup on top of a remorseful sundae. Guilty syrup on top of a remorseful sundae that has been damaged by freezer burn and is wholly and positively yucky. Trust me - that isn’t a food you’d want to eat. It isn’t the type of person you want to be. So stop, and think. Violence begets violence begets violence — hatred begets hatred begets hatred. Perpetuating it does nobody any good; not you, and certainly not the people you send it out to.

And then, of course!, there’s always the chance that you’re just mean, and sending these messages? They’re your amusement. In which case, for shame. If the only way you can derive entertainment for yourself is by poking others in the figurative eye on the Internet, then get out, go do something productive with your life and quit harassing others because you’re bored and rude. They deserve better than the cruelty of a stranger.

As for those who experience it… don’t let harsh words spoken behind a mask of grey get to you. You can block certain Anonymous from sending you messages from their IP address—

Use the tools provided to you to protect yourself from these people. Their words aren’t worth listening to - not if it costs you even a bit of self-confidence or emotional strength. You owe it to yourself to be kind to yourself, so do yourselves a favour and stop those who’d want to impede that development.

Don’t let the words of one person outweigh the words of the many other people who care about you. You don’t deserve it, and you never will.
