I was passing by and heard you mention you watch over the past and traditions. I was wondering what specifically your duties entailed, and what these ‘Paradoxes’ you referred to were.”
Falkor was definitely intrigued by these two Pokémon approaching him. Both for very different reasons. To see Rayquaza outside of his creator was a experience he never expected to receive. Hell, he wasn't expecting that this one could look so....beautiful. He wonder what Ziz would say when he informs him that he had a chance to meet someone of his species. Then there was that "Mismagius". He felt a strange pull towards it that he was quite familiar with...but it was...different. It was complicated. It took him a few seconds to register what he was dealing with.
He does speak through, once again offering his common toothy grin. "Pleasure to meet you both! Maybe Katsuo is rubbing off on me because I didn't think i hit the jackpot of meeting some pretty unique Pokemon here~! Haahah!" he gave a hearty laugh before bowing. "I am Falkor, the God of Nature and Tradition. The dragon who rules over the Great Crater of Vliuledor and the brother of Nithe the Miraidon."
He first addressed Sphene. "My creators are a Rayquaza and Celebi. The Rayquaza, Ziz, was the one that assigned me the duty of ensuring that nature continues to survive in the face of all things artificial. After all, we can't have everything that opposite nature from overtaking it. The Celebi, Felicity, was the one that assigned me the role of watching the past and tradition. For that specific task, that involves me ensuring traditions never died and Pokemon feel that need to pass those new beliefs and customs. I do not control what these traditions because at the end of the day, everyone is different. I can only serve as that little voice in that head that tells you that you can pass this custom down to the newer generation or not. However, ultimately, I don't make the decision because it's not my place."
He scratched his chin. "Traditions are rooted in the past. Innovation is rooted into the future. Fate is the space between both of them that connects them. You can't have tradition without innovation. I am tradition. My brother is innovation. Felicity is fate. We rely on each other."
He then shifts his attention to include Morgan in what he was going to say next. "Now Paradoxes are interesting. Let's see if I can simplify it because this can get a little bit messy to explain. Paradox Pokemon are Pokemon that shouldn't exist because they only exist in alternative timelines far from ours. However, what happens is that they slip through cracks in time and end up here. Think of it like this."
"In another timeline, Misdreavus doesn't exist. A timeline that perhaps is more akin to one where ancient Pokemon tend to roam. In its place is a Pokemon known as Flutter Mane. In that world, Misdreavus would be considered the paradox since it doesn't exist. That is the nature of paradox Pokemon. They are not like Ultra Beasts that come from a different dimension as at the very least Ultra Beasts are tied to us. That is why I am in charge of keeping a eye on any past based paradox while my brother deals with any future based paradox. When we watch them, we try to make sure they have the tools to survive because they can't be returned back home since there are too many timelines."
His expression does become serious. "We really hammer the "be safe" aspects of being out in our world due to the fact that sadly there are Pokemon out there that really really enjoy playing God. There has been cases where scientists plucked paradox Pokemon that they discovers to study them. This lead to misinformation spreading....and unfortunately cases where we see the rise of artificial paradox. Those are the really worrying ones that often require me to talk with both my brother and our Calyrex. There are cases where we have some involvement in crafting artificial Pokémon...but we only do that when it comes to Pokemon that we know in confidence can survive the transformation that really needed it. "
He paused and then squinted. ".....Though there has been one case of a artificial Flutter Mane being made by that bastard peach."
