About Soultale~
This AU was created when I was much younger so I apologize for any mistakes or confusing parts of the story. Iāve done my best to clean the story up and adjust it so it makes more sense, but Iām always open to constructive criticism or answering any questions you may have about it.

Lore~
Monsters and humans had lived peacefully on the Surface together for five years, until Frisk RESET again, throwing Sans into a complete depression, worse than heād felt in years.
Flowey came up with a plan for Sans to defeat Frisk (Chara) by using the six human souls, hopefully throwing Frisk and Chara off guard, then absorbing their soul and RESETing everything himself. That way, Sans already had the power of seven human souls to break the Barrier with everyone still alive.
Sans, of course, was opposed to the plan. Doing so would take Frisk completely out of the Timelines, and, of course, he didnāt want to do that. But after a lot of persuasion he agreed and went to Asgore to ask for the human souls, then waiting for Frisk to enter the Judgment Hall.
The only problem happened to be that Sans (with only 1 HP) could barely keep his fragile body from dusting under the overwhelming amount of power he now had.
Like usual during the genocide routes, Frisk entered the Judgement Hall and they battled (and they really were caught off guard with Sansās new attacks and powers, but instead of discouraging them, Chara found it fun, and fought harder). When he realized he wouldnāt make it through to Frisk, Sans tried to kill her and absorb her soul. Right before he could though, Chara struck one blow right into his skull, with it caving in easily. He managed to absorb Friskās soul just in time before he could dust, but the damage to his skull had already been done.
With that, he basically had the power of a god.
In a body that would break apart in one hit.
Flowey emerged, trying to make sure Sans wouldnāt do anything stupid, like trying to let Friskās soul go because he had second thoughts about the plan. Which he really was.
Sans finally tried RESETing. But it didnāt work. Not immediately anyway.
The Judgment Hall caved in on them, and when they came up from the rubble, they realized that they were still in the Judgement Hall. But it wasnāt in the Undergroundā¦
The entire Corridor and its ruins were floating around in the Void, the location of Gaster (Sans and Papyrusās father who had been erased from existence years prior. Only Sans remembered him).
Gaster warned them that the Underground would never be the same again because Frisk wasnāt the one to RESET. The only thing he could do was give Sans a way for him to find his brother. (Explanation: Sans and Papyrus are almost the two halves of Gaster, so each would get one half of Gasterās telltale physical qualities. Sans would get a crack going down his left eye socket and a hole in his left hand while Papyrus would have a crack going up his right eye socket and a hole in his right hand).
With that, Sans woke up, not in his bed in Snowdin, but in the Ruins, lying in a bed of golden flowers.
In short, Sans, Flowey, the human souls, and even the Judgement Hall had all been erased from existence, leading to a very different Underground. Since no humans had never fallen, Asriel never died, Asgore began to go crazy, and he issued a decree that he would harvest monster souls instead, hoping to eventually have enough to equal the power of seven human souls and break the Barrier. Just as before, Toriel didnāt agree with the plan in the slightest, taking Asriel and going to the Ruins, possibly the only somewhat safe place in the Underground.
Sans and Flowey (who merges himself with Asrielās soul) finds that everyone is violent and cold. If a monster is even slightly weak, they wonāt stand a chance. And of course, no one knows who Sans is, not even Papyrus, who became cold and closed off, though he still attempts to do the right thing and protect Snowdin Town while heās second in command of the Royal Guard. Sans has to make it through the Underground in order to break the Barrier and somehow restore peace without the help of Frisk.
Thatās pretty much it for the actual AU. But there are two routes from there: the Timeline Protector and Soul Eater routes.
Timeline Protector (Star Sanses)~
Sans manages to help monsters coexist peacefully on the Surface with humans, and even feel like everything has some semblance of normality. But he feelsā¦ out of place. Like now that heās done his job of breaking the Barrier, he doesnāt have much purpose anymore, since Frisk wasnāt physically there anymore and it still felt a little awkward or tense around Papyrus.
That is, until Ink took interest in his AU, seeing as how Soul created an entire AU just by taking things into his own hands. He approached him and offered him a place to work with the Star Sanses, not only helping them protect the multiverse, but specially assigning him to be the Protector of Timelines, making sure no anomalies messed with the Timelines again and prevent anything from happening (like Sans getting erasedā¦)
Soul Eater (Bad Sanses)~
Soul still frees the monsters and helps them coexist with the humans. But this time Ink doesnāt come to recruit him. Eventually Soul faces the same issue Frisk did last time. Chara.
Chara isnāt the bad guy in this story. They never wanted to be. But they were corrupted by HATE, and all that it wanted was more souls to corrupt. More power.
So thatās what it did.
It corrupted each of the seven human souls one by one (with the exception of Frisk. Chara basically just locked her away in the depths of Soulās mind because their determination was too strong to corrupt again), until it became too overbearing for Soul to handle before he became corrupted himself.
He RESET. And went on his own genocide route. But he was crueler than even Chara was. He would dust each monster, and then eat their soul, causing his body to grow more and more unstable. But the HATE didnāt care. It only wanted more souls to corrupt and would do anything to make it happen. And he would do it over and over. RESETing just to corrupt more souls, until the gaping hole already in his skull grew, until nearly half of his face was gone, and liquid HATE dripped from it and his other eye socket.
On one of the last routes, he managed to find a way to compromise corrupting souls while also keeping his body intact. Since each soul was already corrupted, he could summon them again, making HATE corrupted minions for himself. The only one he actually kept was Papyrusās.
Nightmare, feeling Soulās VERY strong negative energy, went to recruit him for his own team. And Soul accepts, all because, surprisingly, Frisk wanted him to. She thought that if he did, then maybe he wouldnāt be trapped in an endless cycle of RESETs and maybe preserve his sanity a little bit.
