I just love our school district! I am still on an energy high from yesterday evening. We truly bring the community into our schools! Our school district holds a bi-monthly Food Pantry for our students & families. Families can come grab an empty box and fill it with meats, canned and boxed foods, toiletries and produce. We don't ask for any information, we just ask to weigh the food so we can keep track of how much is distributed and that's it! We even help them load the food into their cars. One of my favorite parts of the evening was lifting 20-60lb boxes, helping them to their cars and listening to their expressions of astonishment because I was stronger than that they thought. I definitely got in a good workout. Although we had gentlemen with wagons who helped our families bring their items out and load them into their cars. Hearing our families express their gratitude although with opening up about their current circumstances really touched my heart. Last night we were able to help distribute over 1700 lbs of food to 65 families.
