Dave grinned and raised his hand in a half wave. “Sounds great! What are we watching?” He hadn’t really spent much time with Artie since moving into the house and he wouldn’t mind getting to know him better. A movie was a good option, though people tended to get a little irritated with Dave for talking while it was playing. He hoped Artie was the kind of person who didn’t mind talking about the movie while they watched. “So what snacks do we have?”

Smiling, Artie leaned to the side to pat the free cushion on the couch next to where his chair was parked. “Well, I’ve got a few different thoughts. I love anything really, but horror specifically. How do you feel about The Conjuring?” He asked. “If that’s not your kind of movie I totally get that too, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. If you don’t like that, I’ve had a hankering for Rocky Horror lately.” Artie waited patiently while Dave settled himself, leaning to the table to his right to pass Dave two bowls. “Right now I’ve got popcorn and chips, but I’ve also got some candy stashed in my bag too.” Artie fully believed movies were meant to be both enjoyed and discussed, so the thought that Dave might feel the same excited him.

Wheeling into the living room, Artie glanced around, looking for the best place to position himself for the movie he intended to watch. He had just finished getting set up, and settled in, when another man walked into the room. Recognizing him immediately Artie raised his hand in greeting, smiling. “Hey, Dave! It’s good to see you out and about! I was just settling in for a movie, would you like to join? I’ve got snacks!”

You’re right about why I try to forget them, but I’m glad the ones I’ve seen are the good ones. It means I made an okay decision agreeing to the movie of the night, right? Oh man, picking a favorite is always really hard. I love muffins, like of any kind. I also am a huge fan of chocolate chip cookies and roll cakes, though roll cakes are really only something I make for holidays. I might actually do a cookie day here soon, and make all kinds of cookies because I really want to kind of prove myself. I feel like I’m putting a lot of hype out there and then not following through so far.

Oh absolutely. I’m glad you’ve at least given it a chance. I’ve talked to so many people who just got soured on the genre after seeing some ridiculous B movie. One bad apple, right? Right! Those are all excellent choices. Pumpkin Rolls are one of my favorite desserts. I don’t think you have anything to prove, but you won’t catch me discouraging cookies in any way. Have you ever made butter cookies? I understand, But, you wouldn’t be here if the hype wasn’t true, right?

Everything and everyone is really nice so far. I’m currently feeling like I’ve made a good decision by coming here. Horror is not exactly my cup of tea, but I have seen a few of the psychological thriller types. Like I’ve seen The Butterfly Effect and Requiem for a Dream. I try to forget them most of the time though. I do bake yes! Actually if I were to watch something scary, I’d bake to get my mind off of it. Which I realize comes off as pretty lame… But I do make really good cookies and cupcakes and muffins, so I guess that kind of starts to make up for it. If you have a favorite, I’d be happy to make it for you sometime!

Awesome, I’m happy to hear a good report. I have to admit, nerves started to get the better of me when I was on my way here, but I’ve been totally fine since I arrived. So, I agree that it was a great decision. And it’s a good chance to get to know our peers! That’s alright, I know it can be a little bit niche. But, that’s kind of what I like about it. Maybe it’s morbid, but I like that little bit of fear movies like that leave you with. The good ones, anyway. I’m guessing that’s why you try and forget them. But to me, it’s just a reminder that you’re alive. I know not everyone thinks the same way though. And, at least you’ve seen the good ones it sounds like. I don’t think that’s lame at all, everyone has their ‘thing’. It’s neat that you’ve found yours. Oh hell, all of that sounds delicious, and there are so many flavors I don’t know how anyone manages to choose just one favorite. I can promise you I’ll eat anything you feel like making, picky just isn’t in my vocabulary. Do you have any favorite flavors?

Hey, thanks man! I appreciate that. It’s okay, I’m sure they’ll have another one sometime soon. And, they’re introducing the first challenge today, if I’m not mistaken. Yes! I’m a short film director, and my YouTube channel is dedicated to both my films, and to helping other aspiring directors get started, learn the best software, and all that. The...Life of a potato chip? That’s a strong possibility. Were you thinking documentary style?

Would you rather watch a movie with no snacks or drink or have whatever you want but the movie volume is always just a little to quiet or a little too loud?

That would depend entirely on the movie. My immediate reaction is to say that I would rather watch a movie with no snacks or drink, because a good movie sucks you in so much, you don’t really notice or mind an extraneous detail like that. But, if it’s a slow starter, or not something I’m very interested in, I might be alright with the snacks and too high/low of a volume. I would also need a few more details, like if I were to choose the second option and the movie volume was too low, would I have access to subtitles? There are way too many little details I’m missing answers to, to make a true determination.

If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask?

I would want to know what really happens when/after we die. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not afraid of the act of death itself. I’m afraid of the whole ‘not knowing’ part of things.
