Theseus nodded with a small grunt, he took a big gulp from his flask and brushed the damp hair from his face.

He leaned back with a sigh, eyes closing for a moment. “But that’s what we work for, right? To keep everyone safe.”

Theseus swept his hair out of his face, he had started shaking and had a guilty look on his face. "Indeed. That's what a real man should do anyway, anyone who does otherwise is a disgrace." He grit his teeth and gulped his tea.

Sirius walked into the little cafe, the bell dinged and he was holding a newspaper and his wand in his pocket. He scouted the room before taking a seat right on the counter. "Coffee." he told whoever was working there and then opened his newspaper.

“Rem! Someone for you at the counter… Can you take this one?” Remus was focused on the dishes – muggle style. Getting a job in the wizarding world wasn’t easy – so he tried the muggle world instead. The werewolf put the dishes down and headed to the front and heard coffee once again – though since his face was covered by a newspaper, he couldn’t see who he was giving coffee to. “That’s 1,50…” He said once he shoved the coffee towards the male.

Sirius looked up, he took a second to recognise him before his eyebrows lifted. “Remus.” He said, still in shock, he hand’t seen him since the funeral of James and Lily.

He hadn’t seen him since the Potter’ funeral – their best friends funeral. He just had no idea how to react to his friend, was he still his friend – was he even something close to that? Remus had slipped in a sort of depression after losing their friends, losing contact with Sirius – they were his everything, now he had nothing. “Yeah…”

He looked very confused. “What are you doing working here?” He asked, He had completely forgotten that James had stopped supporting Remus financially, he grew sad looking at him but he felt as though it had been so much time since everything had happened.

Sirius walked into the little cafe, the bell dinged and he was holding a newspaper and his wand in his pocket. He scouted the room before taking a seat right on the counter. "Coffee." he told whoever was working there and then opened his newspaper.

When he saw his face he froze in the moment – that was… Sirius Black, his friend from school – his best friend he hadn’t seen in a long while. “Sirius?” His hand reaching out to the coins before his boss would get pissed. “Sirius…”

“You know I like to keep myself organized, Sirius.” The freshly made Auror wasn’t sure he wanted to see the other man’s house, clutter was his nightmare.

Percival snickered, “Ahh very funny.” he took another sip of rum. “My staff’s attendance?” he gave off a laugh. “I’m just an Auror, mate, I’m not there yet. -Flattered you’d assumed so.” he waggled his brows. “Abernathy tends to blend in.”

Sirius took a sip from his hip flask. “I heard he was quite the swat, stuck his nose in everyone’s business, trying to blend in.” Although Sirius never did well in school, he knew how to get an answer out of someone.

Sirius raised an eyebrow and took out a cigarette, he looked around bodily at all of Percival’s trinkets.

“Want a drink?” he asked, pouring himself a glass of rum, his absolute favourite. Percival wasn’t sure what Sirius Black was doing at his home, but he certainly wasn’t complaining. He was an interesting man.

Sirius took a seat and shook his head. “I won’t be long.” He scratched his chin and looked back to Percival.

“Well then, how can I help you, friend?” he stepped a little closer, boots clicking on the ground as he eyed Sirius. Percival took a swig of the drink in his hand, he needed it after such a long day in training.

He fidgeted with his mug a moment and looked up. “There’s been a bounty put on a friend of yours, quite a big one too.”

Percival furrowed his brows, slight concern apparent on his face. “A friend of mine? Elaborate…”

Sirius thought of how to word it for a moment. “A colleague. A mister Abernathy has disappeared, well he’s cearly in a sport of trouble..” He went on.

“Abernathy?” Percival mused, taking a sip from the glass in his hand. “Surely not. He’s harmless.”

Sirius nodded. "Yes, for about a week. It's funny, don't you usually stay on top of your staffs attendance? Surely you would have noticed?" He asked, trying to sound far smarter than he actually was.

The Black Brothers.

It was a cold day, even for summer. Regulas was 12 years old and sitting at the top of the staircase at Grimmauld Place doing his homework, ignore the yells of his parents below him. He always tried to get on his parents good side.

Sirius snuck back inside without being noticed. Heading straight upstairs, playfully ruffling his fingers through his brother’s hair as he past him by.

“How in the world can you make homework in this racket?”

He demanded, slowing down on his way towards his room.

“What has happened now?”

Regulas raised an eyebrow.

“Mum and dad are looking for you.” Regulas stood up and went to walk to his room so that he wouldn’t get involed.

Sirius grinned with a shrug. “Some call it coincidence, others call it fate”

“Never stop drinking ha? ” She says amusingly, folding her hands. “You’re so stubborn Sirius Black. ” A radiant smile adorned her face. It was the smile that many men fell for.

This was not a smile Sirius had fallen for. He usually fell for the likes of whores and women who were ‘easy.’

“I see.. ” She said as if something crossed her mind. “It was nice meeting you really. I have just left my books in the shop. I got to go. Bye. ” She jutted her hands in the coat and walked away.

Sirius raised an eyebrow and wat he’d her walk away. He stumbled out of the cafe and down an alleyway where he sat for a while and thought about life.

See picked her books and left for work. She worked at St Mungo’s Hospital for magical maladies and injuries as a trainee healer.

Sirius had a job looking for a few bad guys around the back alleys, he worked as a Bounty Hunter.

He stumbled by a wall and suddenly a few guys came up behind him beating the life out of him. He had just managed to apparate to St Mungos before he passed out, covered in cuts and bruises.

Cassandra was attending to another patient when she was suddenly called by the head to another room where Sirius was being treated. She could not believe her eyes as she saw him covered bruises. “Sirius, can you hear me? ”

Sirius shook awake, as though he didn’t feel any pain he just looked to her sleepily. “What’s-goin-on?” He asked like a slob and rubbed his eyes, he was used to being beaten so he hardly reacted to it, although he did have a flashback to when he was younger with his parents.

She spoke in soothing tone. “It’s alright. Just a few bruises. I’m afraid you will have to stay at least for three days though until they get better. ” She wrapped a bandage around his hand.

Sirius shot up and dropped his mouth. “What, why?” He looked around realising where he was. “Why am I here..?”

“As I was informed you have been beaten by a gang of thugs and managed to apparate in here. ” She finished wrapping the bandage and covered him with the quilt. “Plus, no liquor is allowed here.” She said taking the flask out of his pocket. “I’m not trying to dictate by doing these things. I hope you’ll understand me. ”

Sirius grumbled no tried to complain. “I can’t, I’ve got a job. 300 galleons if I do this Cass, you’ve got to let me, look I’m fine.”

“No. ” She looked at him intensely. “You’ll have to stay until you get better. No more complaints Sirius. You can’t apparate in another place out of here. I’m the healer and you’re my patient. ”

Sirius groaned and leaned back. Sulking and resembling a toddler.

She smiled at him and left the room. “You look great when you’re sulky ” She teased him. “Do you want me to bring anything else for you? ”

His reply was short and blunt. "Whisky."

Elliot had been running late and had been rushing to get to the Ministry. He had his reports in his arms when suddenly he crashed into another causes his papers to fly everywhere.

Remus looked up, he’d dropped his tepid tea all over the papers and he helped the man up. “Merlins beard I’m very sorry.” He started picking up the papers.

“No, it’s alright,” Elliot quickly scrambled to collect his things, “I shouldn’t have been running.”

“And I should have been looking where I was going” Rmus chuckled and handed him the stack of papers.

“Thank you,” he said. Elliot noticed the tea stain on his shirt and pulled out his wand, “Sorry about that.” He then cleaned the stain.

Remus looked slightly confused then nodded. “Oh.. sorry, I should really be going, have a nice day.” He gave a small smile and started to walk off as a work application rejection letter fell from his pocket without him noticing.

Elliot noticed the paper and picked it up, skimming over the letter. He then quickly walked up to Remus, “Wait! You dropped this.” He handed it back to him, “If you’re looking for a job, I could help. I’m currently looking for an assistant.”

Remus took it and looked nervous. "I appreciate it but that's what I just got rejected for." He couldn't make eye contact.
