Look I know I don’t post here anymore. And I know no one will even read this. And I know no one even cares. But I literally don’t have anywhere else to post this so I’m just going to ramble for a few minutes and try to settle my mind for once in months.

I don’t think I can handle things for much longer, tbh. I’m struggling so hard to get up and go to work (and look, I know I should be grateful that is a problem and that a lot of people have lost their jobs with CV. I know.) My anxiety has reached an all time high. I’m crying at least once a week, usually more often. I literally congratulate myself lately when I step out of the shower without crying. I either come home on my half days and sleep, or I spend evenings trying to remind myself to sleep because it’s necessary. I’ve had much more su*c*dal ideation lately, and have even started considering options, which is a lot more than I used to. Not that I’m even brave enough to try anything, because my anxiety is too damn high for even that.

I know what everyone will suggest. “Try therapy!” Well, I live paycheck to paycheck. Literally. My bank account stays almost perfectly even each month, and when I have extra money (like when taxes came in) I wound up having to get new tires on my car. I looked into online like B*tterH*lp and they want weekly payments. Can’t afford that. I looked into Lem*naidHe*lth, and they want almost $100 a month. Can’t afford that. And if I can’t afford those, I definitely can’t do in person therapy. So I’m just. Struggling on.

Wow. Okay. Breathes and tries to contain my anger bc as I age I DO actually see the rampant ageism in the rpc, an example exhibited here. And clearly it goes beyond just FCs and preferred character types. It’s toward muns too.

The fact is, there is no magic age where you wake up and say “that’s it!!! I will not write in this social community I helped build and heavily contributed to for almost a decade anymore”!!! There is no age when you tell yourself you’re “too old” for things that bring you pleasure, joy and freedom. You’re in for such a rude awakening when you discover 25 is far from old and 30 is literally just a meaningless number. Why is everyone on this website so afraid of aging? It’s scary how often I see people weaponize age as if it’s even relevant or a good argument to make.

Look, I understand that millennials and gen zs have this like.. barrier. A line around the ages 22-25 where people feel separation because our experiences are different but people! CAN STILL COEXIST AT THE SAME TIME! I can be close as fuck to someone 18-19 and call them a good friend and learn from them and vice versa. Generational gaps do not automatically equate to not being able to relate to one another!!!! Why do you hate people in this community so much just because they’re not in your perfect age range? What makes you think you’re automatically better than someone in this community just because they have a few years on you? It literally means nothing. And it sounds to me like you have some internalized hatred for the hobby you enjoy that you’re projecting onto me (and others in my age bracket) that just don’t care anymore and live freely on this website trying to fucking create.

I wish people didn’t have to write 21+ on their app to feel comfortable. I wish people didn’t have to live in fear of being ostracized online in a community they’ve felt safe in for some, past a decade now, just because they’re not in college anymore. Let people fucking live if they’re not hurting anyone loser.

Someone gave me child Charlie feels and now literally all I can think about is how Charlie grew up watching the rise of Voldemort and seeing the atmosphere of England grow more and more tense. How he could sense the fear and how he was left with [such relatives or members of the Order] while his parents went out to help fight.

He spent the first NINE years in this atmosphere. He grew up in the war. Bill and Charlie would be most aware of this (Bill would only be one when the war kicked into full swing). But Percy would only be five when it ended, the twins would be three. Ron would be one, and lucky Ginny was two months old when it ended.

Percy might understand, but Bill and Charlie? They got it. They understood. They felt the fear and terror of the wizarding world they were growing up in. And they were both so ready to join the second war when it started, to stop others from feeling that fear.

I just wanted to make a real quick note to any other creators out there who are feeling the pressure:

It is totally acceptable not to be creative and productive in this time of quarantine. 

I’ve seen so many posts about “writers have no excuse not to finish their WIPs” and “artists need to make new content with all this free time” and that’s just total bull. 

If you are feeling creative and productive, that’s awesome! Ride that wave, babydoll.

And if you aren’t feeling that way, there is absolutely no reason to feel guilty about it. Creativity isn’t a switch you can turn off and on when it’s convenient. 

This has been a PSA from a creator who hasn’t been feeling it for a while now and being stuck at home hasn’t changed that.
