What is The Snap Dragon Club series?

The Snap Dragon Club is an anthology comic created by Hikari Yuushi. The stories are connected in that they all take place in the same magical world of Sanctus, and that the protagonists of each story all eventually make their way to the titular Snap Dragon Club, a place to enjoy food and relax in the company of the friendly hosts who work there. The overall theming is generally about finding strength in connections and relationships.

This blog will be used to archive the pages of the various ‘tales’ of the Snap Dragon Club, as well as have communications open for those who wish to know more about the lore of the world. 

List of comics

The ‘Snap Dragon Club: The Grand Opening’ comic (rushed but complete, original run 80 pages) can be found here. This comic follows Piro, the manager of the Snap Dragon Club, and his slice-of-life journey of being accepted in a new world, as well as dealing with a bit of interpersonal drama.

The ‘Snap Dragon Club: The Wanderer’s Tale’ comic (Reader POV, complete, 21 pages) can be read here. The reader takes the point of view of a newly-isekai’d human who’s just escaped the Enchanted Forest, and has no idea the sort of world they’ve found themselves in.

The ‘Snap Dragon Club: The Hunter’s Tale’ comic (complete, 95 pages) can be found here. This comic follows the heroic tale of Crystal Saeykt, a hunter who’s been summoned along with her team to take down a mysterious monster that’s been terrorizing a town that can’t handle the new threat.

The ‘Snap Dragon Club: The Actress’s Tale’ comic is in progress, and the currently posted pages can be found here. This comic follows the tale of Mackenzie Varance, an actress who will have to finally face the events of a troubling past she’d attempted to leave behind.

The Sanctus Pilot  (complete, 20 pages) is available to anyone who donates via Ko-Fi or Patreon. This comic covers the story of how the fae Dreamwalker comes to meet his new champion, Scotty Hygak.

What order should I read the tales?

The beauty of the Snap Dragon Club is that you can start with any of the listed tales, and decide whether or not you want to read the others after the first one you read! But I would like to emphasize: it is NOT important to read them in any particular order in order to get full context. No individual tale is required reading for the others!

Ask About Sanctus Characters?

I’m in a bit of a creative block, so I think I’d be open to asks about my characters.

Here are the characters that have made an appearance in the Snap Dragon Club Comic that are available to be asked about:

Piro (bat monster, manager of the Snap Dragon Club)

Acasi (naga aka snakefolk, janitor at the Snap Dragon Club

Mack (catfolk anthro, waiter at the Snap Dragon Club and forensics expert at the detective agency)

Vakshi (beefolk anthro, cook at the Snap Dragon Club and Captain of the Bee Guard)

Oran Kingsley (technically ‘Ossenborne’ human, detective at the agency, works with Mack)

Farmhand (Fae, makes all the produce available in Sanct Flora)

Dreamwalker (Fae, can travel through and create dreams)

Scotty Hygak (’angel’, a curious hero guided by Dreamwalker)

Crystal Saeykt ( ‘Pioneer’ human, peace officer of Versille)

Dolly (Fae, has a hat with a neverending supply of toys, lives with Crystal)

Falcon (???, shy, lives with Crystal)

Alden (daemon, Piro’s ‘father’)

Mr. Lawrence (daemon, owner of the Snap Dragon Club)

Mackenzie Varance ( ‘Survivor’ human, actress)

Loran Ipsum ( ‘Wanderer‘ human, travel vlogger)

Here are the characters that have not made an appearance, but do have backstories and character designs:

Forest Guardian (Fae, controls the layout of the Enchanted Forest, protects all who reside within, including the location for Fae City and fae trees)

Shade ( ‘The Nightmare Fae’, known to cause nightmares when he’s near, has rivalry with Dreamwalker)

Ribbon (Fae, current leader of Fae City)

The Princesses (Three Fae akin to nature goddesses, have worshippers within the continent of Ossen)

The Dragons (essentially the core of Ossen’s economic system)

Ruby Merchant (Fae, resides in a large area known as Bog Town on the southern continent of Auden, trades rubies for goods)

Tometress (resurrected Fae, lost her memory)

Still accepting these art/headcanon requests, Maybe even character x Reader headcanons? Might be a fun challenge.

The battle begins!

Coming up with weapons for the hunters to use was definitely a challenge. Makes me think maybe the younger or novice hunters are more used to more technical gear whereas Crystal is very much 'I can brute force my way into things'.

Still happy I went for the pink/purple color scheme for Versille's buildings. A very fantastical color palette for a tech-based settlement on a more whimsical continent.

The shadow speaks! Drawing and coloring him in was always very relaxing and fun. But also because I was using pure black, I knew it'd be basically impossible to undo if I made any mistakes, so that was crucial.

I want to start posting my next comic soon, so these pages will probably be coming out a lot quicker.

It was a pain to remember certain locales and what they looked like, but I was happy with how the panels of the Dusty Gear and Pisces Inn came out. That last panel with Falcon is also one that I really like.
