I'm mass unfollowing... I'm never really on this platform anymore. Nobody really has sent me anything and I guess that's my fault, dropping off the face of the earth... U5 : A Close Call and a Call to Reality

Soarin stood at the edge of the cloud terrace a mile from the outskirts of ponyville, looking down towards the earth’s surface. His heart felt heavy and his mind was blank. He had tightly bound a rope around his body, securing his wings tightly. It seems like there was no turning back now. He took one shaky breath, raised a hoof…… then leaned forward to take the step towards the few miles high freefall.

You’re suddenly ripped away from the edge and thrown backwards away from it

I tumble backward and come to a stop, heart racing. I look up “….C-Cobalt?”

“WHAT THE FUCK, SOAR?!? What were you trying to do just now?!?!” His face contorted with a mixture of fear and anger, his wings spread out wide to block a second attempt.

I can only look down, unable to meet your eyes. Even though I couldnt see you, i could feel the intense anger emanating from you “….how did you know…”

“I didnt!! What the fuck is this about?! Is this about that Star mare?! I cant believe you’re that fucking selfish!”

I felt a wave of adrenaline shoot through me and I jumped, tackling the younger brother to the ground “What do you know, Cobalt?!?! You havent been with a mare yet!! She!! ….she was…”

He grabbed his older brother with his wings and flipped him over, landing on top. Before he could stop himself, he had raised a hoof and brought it down, landing a full blown punch on his nose. Breathing heavily he stares down at him “……dont….ever….try to pull something like this again, do you hear me!?!?”

My head was ringing and everything had gone blurry, but his voice was clear. Tears well in my eyes as I grit my teeth

Cobalts eyes water up as well “You have a successful career… a team who respects you… a BROTHER WHO IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK UP TO YOU!!… and youd throw that away… just because you got dumped by a mare who didnt know a good thing when she saw it…”

The tears were flowing freely now. “I…I’m sorry… IM SORRY!!” I throw my arms around him, sobbing into his shoulder, ashamed of how weak I was.

Cobalt hugs his older brother tightly, not even stopping his own tears. “I dont know what I would do if anything happened to you, Soar…” He reaches back, biting off the rope that held his brothers wings in place.

My wings fall limply to the ground. I remember the things I do have, reminded by my younger brother who was stronger than me at my lowest hour. “I…I wont… I wont do it again…I promise”

“Let’s get you home.. dont need anypony seeing you like this..” He pulls Soarin up and manages to get him back on all fours and starts to walk him back to Cloudsdale, leaving the rope behind

The pain in my muzzle was nothing compared to the pain in my heart. Had I committed and carried out the selfish deed, I would have caused more senseless pain to those closest to me.

Why do I keep fucking everything up?

It's not like I want to. I dont. I work a third shift in the middle of a goddamn backwater country town where i have NO SOCIAL INTERACTION. Do I want to be alone?? NO. Can I help it? No. I just want more time. I want to continue to have friends. Am I just destined to fail at reality, because that's what it seems like. I know my work ethic is solid. You put me on a job, I'll be the best damn worker on it. But then I come home... and I'm a fragile piece of shit that cant seem to do shit right.
