Why do you hurt?
you swallow pain and fold around it
you have always hurt. you hold it carefully, and twisted in such a way that other people don't have to see it. you don't choke on it. you don't drown. you just have it, the way some people have freckles, this is a thing that lives in your bones. you fold instead of fighting because you know how to make yourself small, tuck away the places where they have clawed at, swallow the bruises so you seem clean. nobody needs to see it. you will live through this on your own. you know what you need, and relief isn't it. this doesn't mean you cannot reach out - it means it is not in your nature to do so. you should. hiding does not mean you won't be seen. efully, and twisted in such a way that other people don't have to see it. you don't choke on it. you don't drown. you just have it, the way some people have freckles, this is a thing that lives in your bones. you fold instead of fighting because you know how to make yourself small, tuck away the places where they have clawed at, swallow the bruises so you seem clean. nobody needs to see it. you will live through this on your own. you know what you need, and relief isn't it. this doesn't mean you cannot reach out - it means it is not in your nature to do so. you should. hiding does not mean you won't be seen.

🌷 for Calvin! - asktheghosthostmsa
“Working another late night?” Came the soft question from the mechanic as he put his hand on their shoulder. Pulling over a chair so he could sit next to his old friend, the bags under his eyes clear as day while letting out a sigh. Placing his head on the slightly taller ghost’s chest, giving them an awkward side hug. His spiky hair no doubt tickling their chin from how he was positioned.
A playful, tired grin spread across his face. Seeing if Calvin was ticklish enough to stop sewing buttons on their latest client’s vest and pay attention to him instead. The hug evolving into a full on tickle fight now. His lips just barely brushing up against their forehead.
“Come on, Cal. You’re overdue for a break. It can wait until we both get some sleep.” Arthur teased, still wiggling his fingers over their ribs. Not realizing he had almost kissed their hairline. Pulling away when his hands started to get sore.Â
Calvin gave a slightly stressed sigh, nodding. “Yes, it’s been a very.. very.. very long day. And night.” They adjusted their glasses, trying their best not to laugh at the sudden tickle attack. “A-Artie, s-stop it!” They couldn’t help but laugh, squirming in their seat. Trying to hold Arthur at bay, cheeks red from laughing. Noticing the almost kiss, but not mentioning it, not wanting to embarrass Arthur. “Fine, you got me. I’m tired and I need a nap, especially after all that tickling..”
“You’re getting as bad as me. Keep it up, and people might mistake you for another Kingsmen.” Arthur half joked, rubbing their shoulders as an apology. Fixing the red ghost’s shirt with a small smile. Leaning against his friend while hugging them from behind.Â
Calvin had always been so warm… And it seemed moving on to the afterlife hadn’t changed that. He could hold them all day, but if they wanted to get some sleep, he would have to let them get up from their desk. Putting their friendly embrace on hold so Calvin could close up shop for the night.
“Do you want anything to eat while you finish up? I can help you put the fabric away if you like.” Arthur added, glancing at the various materials sprawled out across Calvin’s work space. Picking up a thimble and playing with it. “We could watch Peter Pan when we’re done. I haven’t seen that movie since we were kids.”
Calvin gave a hum, Vera cooing from underneath a pile of fabric. Starting to fold the fabric, the phantom turning off their sewing machine. "Well, yes, I am kind of hungry. We haven't seen Peter Pan for a long time..." They smiled a little, getting up and stretching out. "Maybe we could get some snacks before we watch the movie? And.. should we watch it at your house or here?"

Cyrus fell silent, barely chirping now as they glanced up at Calvin with sad eyes. Their tuft drooping lower while settling down next to Vera. Their small paws touching the half blue, half purple heart on their chest. Hugging the scrap of what looked to be Arthur's vest they kept separate from the rest of their sash with a lonely coo. It was larger than the stitched together fabric they wore, almost seeming as if they kept their belongings in there. The corner of a picture sticking out from it.
Vera cooed softly, hugging Cyrus. Not wanting them to be sad, asking what the paper in their little bundle was. Wrapping a strip of flannel around Cyrus to keep them warm. Peeping to him, Calvin gently wrapping the repaired sash around Cyrus. Kneeling down in front of the cubby filled with fabric, a concerned look on their face. "What happened to your Arthur, little buddy?"
The small ghost nodded, bringing the torn sash over to them once they had gotten all of the pieces. Relieved that the pins were safe and not too dirty. A blue circle attached to one side with a dual colored skull split down the middle on the other. Jumping slightly when the other dead beat came out of their napping spot. Hiding behind some of the sequins again while signing that their name was Cyrus. Watching the ghostly host start to work on their tiny outfit. Nudging their hand. "Cheep."
Calvin sighed, already starting to stitch up the sash. Noticing the pins on it with a frown. Were those Arthur's pins?.. They touched them carefully, petting Cyrus. "Are you a friend of Arthur's?" They asked, Vera peeping back and inviting them into their nap spot. Scooting over to make room for their hopefully new friend.Â
🕯️! From Calvin! - asktheghosthostmsa
It had been sudden, but Arthur was trying not to panic as he lit all the candles he could find in his apartment above the shop, the largest object being an electric storm lamp the blond had gotten used to using as a oversized nightlight. Fiddling with the star pin on his vest anxiously while distracting himself from the darkness. Tears already prickling at the corner of his eyes. His heart racing a mile a minute. It felt like it was going to burst out of his chest at any moment. Digging through his desk to find something soft to chew on. Settling for a rubber necklace he hadn’t worn in years. Some pre-existing teeth marks decorating the small circular charm that was made from the same material. The colorful loops it was on being mostly yellow and red, with a bit of orange mixed in.
He felt more secure now, calming down with a muffled sigh, continuing to chew on it as he furrowed his brows in concentration. Going downstairs to check on the fuse box when he saw another candle shining its light from outside. Opening the door to the workshop curiously to see who it was.
“Calvin! Were you caught in the power outage too? I didn’t expect you to drop by, otherwise I would have done some cleaning. But it came out of nowhere, didn’t it? Come in, I have snacks out on the table that should be still good until I can figure this out.” Arthur said, taking the necklace out of his mouth. Only realizing it was still there after he had invited them in.
“Uh, is there anything you need fixed while you’re here?”
“Oh, I was hoping I might find you here. I didn’t know if you were scared of the dark still, and I heard there was a power outage in Tempo, so I wanted to come and make sure you were okay..” Calvin gave a worried smile, fiddling with the pin cushion on their wrist as they stepped in. Their hair falling out of their bun from their rush to get here. “I don’t need anything fixed, but… Could I help you light some of those candles?” They asked, rubbing their neck. “Are you doing alright?..”
“To be honest? It still scares me sometimes… Not as much as being alone, but it’s pretty close. I guess all these candles make it obvious, don’t they?” Arthur sighed, closing the door behind them. While he appreciated the thought, it seemed like a childish fear to have. If he had been a little stronger, then maybe he would have been able to fight off the nightmares. Reliving the most traumatic experience in his life almost every night was something he was never going to get away from until he faced it head on.
He couldn’t bring himself to ask any of his friends for help. It would have been too much for them, and he didn’t want to make things worse for the rest of the gang. They had their own trauma to work through. Even though a part of him was convinced he would feel better if he talked to them about it.
Shaking his head, Arthur pulled out a lighter from the emergency kit. Handing a second one to Calvin with a weak smile on his face. Trying to keep himself calm for the sake of his childhood friend. Lighting a couple of more candles as the necklace found its way back into his mouth. Chewing on it idly.
“Do you want me to fix your hair? You didn’t have to rush over to see me, Cal. But I enjoy your company.”  Â
Calvin nodded, accepting the lighter from Arthur. “Oh, it’s okay. I’m.. not the biggest fan of the dark either.” They murmured softly, lighting the rest of the candles they could find. Their pin cushion seeming to glow in the dark as they looked around the room.
“Oh, if you could, that’d be nice of you.. I know I didn’t have to rush over, but… I missed you. Um.. maybe we could build a blanket fort to hide in until the power comes back?..” Calvin blushed slightly, getting out one of the ribbons they used to tie their hair.
“You did? Well, you’re in luck. I always have some kind of fort built for occasions like these. Jus watch your step if you find the plush collection among all the chaos. You remember Percival, right? I used to take him everywhere.” Arthur smiled a little, hoping to lift up the mood by going down memory lane. The candles spaced out on each surface carefully so their wax wouldn’t burn into each other. Leading his friend by the hand over to a small mountain of pillows and blankets.
It had only been a few seconds before he tackled them onto the soft cushioned rug below, unable to stop himself from laughing as he tickled every spot on Calvin he could think of. Letting them sit back up when he was done. Still grinning from ear to ear while getting a brush for their hair. All of his fears seeming to have subsided for now.
He decided to get his well loved patched up stuffed animal from childhood on the way back, smoothing down its fur with a quiet hum. Standing behind the red hued ghost as he began to brush out their hair. Offering the worn out plush to them to hold. “Sorry, but I couldn’t resist. I wanted to make the blackout less terrifying for the both of us. Forgive me?”
Calvin nodded, a smile on their face. “Aw, Percival.. I do remember him! I wish I still had my hedgehog plush though…” They gave a soft hum, and a surprised laugh when they were tickled, curling up and trying to get away, hiding inside the blanket fort. “Arthur!” They pouted playfully, adjusting their glasses. “Fine, fine, I forgive you.” They gave a small smile, holding Percival for Arthur while he brushed their hair. Wrapping a blanket around themself.
“A hedgehog plush, huh? I think I might have one of those. Whatever happened to it, if you don’t mind me asking?” Arthur looked up at them curiously, gathering all of their hair and tying it into a bun. Making sure it was nice and secure before sitting down next to them. The way the pin cushion around their wrist glowed catching his attention. Almost entranced by it.Â
It was hard for him to focus on anything else. He had meant to ask them about it when they had reunited last time, but he didn’t want to pry. What if it was personal? There was still things he didn’t know about Calvin…
Like how they died.
It was a subject he couldn’t avoid forever, maybe he would bring it up someday. But not now. He just wanted to relax and get caught up like they used to do when Calvin was alive.
Hugging a blanket around his shoulders, Arthur leaned against his old childhood friend, smiling at them faintly. Pulling them into a warm embrace.
“I’ve missed this…”
"Well, um.." Calvin gave a nervous laugh, caught in their throat. "Did I ever write to you about Valin? We were.. dating for a long time. Um.. he said I was too old for stuffed animals, and I never saw Vera the Hedgehog after that.. I think he threw it away.." They sighed softly, wrapping their arms around their legs. Relaxing into the hug, closing their eyes. "I don't really want to talk about it right now, maybe when the lights come back on.." A nervous frown flashes on their face, before they plastered on a smile. They didn't want to confront everything that had happened to them yet...
The tiny yellow ghost blinked, giving the friendly hand a sniff. There was something familiar about it, which seemed to make them sad. Their long tuft flopping over itself as they cooed sadly. Pointing to their chest and motioning for something that was supposed to go around it. A little curious about who Vera was, looking through the sparkly material again. Seeing something small and round underneath all of the sequins. Going straight for it. A ripped sash poking out of the same pile. "Peep!"
"Oh, is that your outfit? Do you want me to fix it for you?" Calvin asked when they noticed the ripped sash, not wanting the little beat to cry. Although they did wonder why they were so sad... Vera peering out from the box of fabric they were taking a nap in. Peeping back, tilting their head and waving to the new beat. Asking them what their name was.
There's a soft rustling from the sewing room, a small yellow colored dead beat with a split heart down its chest seeming to be looking for something. Digging through the various fabric as they let out a worried chirp. Maybe they dropped whatever it was they were carrying? Not really paying attention as they floated backwards and bumped into somebody. A quick flash of their exposed marking showing it was half blue and half purple, before diving for cover behind a shelf. Peering out shyly. "Peep?"
Calvin tilted their head, going to the sewing room to see what was going on. "Hello?" They looked around, giving a surprised noise when they saw the little yellow beat. Holding out their hand for them to get familiar with, petting them carefully. "Are you looking for something, little buddy? Are you one of Vera's friends?"

11pm
you're very soft deep inside and very sleepy all the time. sometimes you can be somewhere physically but spiritually you're always in your dream world. you wonder a little too much about the meanings of things and existential questions that no one knows the answers to. you're idealistic for a world you know you'll never see. you find comfort in the stars, outer space and the moon, which makes sense because you feel like an alien sometimes and were probably a star in your past life. you love rainy evenings and naming your plants. you're also an amazing listener. you just seem to understand.

sweet romanticism
fresh faces, persistent love for life, yearning for romance: you're sweet romanticism. sweet romanticism entails kind, caring words and love that tastes like strawberry shortcake. it's letting the warm sunshine hit your skin and noticing that you feel the same way when you hold their hand, it's taking photos of each other, ones that paint them in the best light and capture every feature of theirs that you’re so in love with. you're able to see the true beauty in life, and are always the first one to stop and notice how the sky's shifted colours or how the birds seem to be chirping a bit more today. your idea of love can be a bit sappy, and you may not always feel like you're the most deserving of the beautiful love you have for others, but you are, and you are an incredibly thoughtful person with a wonderful and caring heart. don't be afraid of a bit of sweet love, just because it's beautiful doesn’t mean it's shallow or worthless. "i found you without looking, and love you without trying." -mark anthony
what type of god are you?
https://uquiz.com/quiz/HPD2wz?p=529179
patron of promises
they call you naive: of all the things to be the patron of, you have tackled the most mercurial of things. promises can easily be reduced to empty words, the precursor to brokenness, and truly, you have seen so many end in such a way. but you have also seen promises be kept, whether expected to or not. in a way, the gamble of it all charms you the most. think of professions and vows screamed in guttural voices, of saying sweet things laced with uncertainty, of beautiful edifices built on unstable land, completely at the mercy of the quaking, crumbling earth. you are the god of the hopeful, of those struggling to find the good in their blackening hearts. the god of uncertain things, of saccharine words said with pure conviction. a refuge for defiant souls, shelter for those who make poor choices but have good intentions. god of oaths both broken and kept, god of sleeping early so that the new day can sooner begin, god of wonder. you string together the words filled with assurance and rain down belief, on both the promiser and the promised. the bringer of hope, however frayed and frail it may be.
