Quite honestly, I’m surprised that I haven’t seen more people on here talking about the fires in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. I know that because it’s Canada and because it’s a fire it’s different than most natural disasters, because it is happening on a much slower time frame, but I honestly don’t think most of you guys realize just how big this is. 

More than 80,000 people have had to flee their homes, and may have nothing to return to when the fire is put out. 

The fire may potentially double over the next couple days, destroying more of Canada’s beautiful landscape, homes, and habitats for it’s diverse biodiversity. 

Fort McMurray is highly dependant upon it’s position in the oil sands industry, which could be highly affected by the fire, leaving tens of thousands of people without jobs or homes. 

A teenage girl was killed in a car crash as a result of her family attempting to flee the fires. 

Foreign temporary workers might have to leave Canada because the fires have left them without homes or connections to people within Canada. 

I know how hard it can be to relate to something like this, but I’m stunned that I haven’t seen the slightest mention of it anywhere on tumblr. Thousands upon thousands of people have lost everything. Wildlife is loosing its natural habitat by the second. Entire cities and communities are being wiped out. I don’t ask much, just that you try to put yourself in the shoes of those affected by this.

I was gonna draw something for 4/13 but my hand is jacked right up so whoops none of that for this guy. But damn?? I can’t believe it’s over. Shit was such a big part of my life from grade 9 until I fell out of the fandom a few months back for DA. Im really fucking sad it’s over, I’d become so much closer to my IRL friends because of it when I was struggling to, and made so many online friends who I’ve kept for years, even though a couple ditched my sorry ass. I’m sad to see it go, but hey better than beating it like a dead horse.

 But shit, once I get my hand checked out or it stops hurting I’ll be updating this blog.
