Pity huddled under the blankets. He was never good at being sick. Par would always hide him in the clubhouse and make him sleep until he felt better. If their dads, or even worse Hades, found out, he'd be in more trouble than normal. So, he kept himself enveloped in blankets, kept his sneezes as quiet as possible, and hoped no one would find him.

The knock on the door and creak as it opened made him curl further into himself. His voice was hoarse, but he managed a quiet, "Go away."

Ethan was hanging out at a lunch table, scrolling through his phone as he had just finished his lunch and put his tray back. After a minute, he stopped scrolling through his phone, seeming to read something. He then started to laugh happily, smiling as well.

When he saw Pity walking towards his table, he started to calm down a bit. Still smiling, of course.

“Hi, sorry if I disturbed you. I-” Ethan laughed a tiny bit before continuing. “I-I found a really funny pun.”

"No, not at all. I was actually about to ask if I could sit here." Pity still wasn't entirely sure where to sit during lunch, but Ethan seemed chill. He did his best to give a friendly smile that may have come out more like a grimace. "What's the pun?"

"Not particularly," Pity poked his head up from the homework he was working on. The last thing he wanted to deal with was someone else from the Isle getting him into trouble. "What do you want?"

“And, I’m reminded why I like the AKs better. Why do I have to want something just cuz I’m here?” Marella rests her face on her hands, sighing dramatically. “I never did anything to anyone.”

Pity raised an eyebrow. "You literally tried to shave my sister's hair in her sleep as payback for Hades making her check in on your dad."

"And besides," he moved his homework slightly down the table, "why else would you be talking to me?"

"I had everything under control." He smiled as he put the car in park. Pity officially got his license and wanted to take Taylor out on an actual date to celebrate. He wasn't sure what about his driving particularly scared her, but he thought he did okay. "I'm sorry I scared you; I'm trying my best."

“I... am an idiot,” Taylor admits, leaning over and kissing his cheek. “Usually, cars I’m in don’t actually do speed limit, in part to allow the old-fashioned ‘waved out the window’ thing, in part just to give my family space to breathe. The speed terrified me and I slipped back to my dramatics. You’re doing amazing, I promise you. I really should learn to drive, too. Maybe it’ll get me used to that.”

"You're not an idiot." He beams at the kiss. "You're not used to it; you're allowed to be a little scared. I know when I first got behind the wheel I was terrified, but it's fun once you get the hang of it." He pats her hand and then rushes to get out of the car so he can open her door for her.

"M'lady," he does a little bow as he gets her door.

Pity stops and thinks for a second before going through his list of ideas, "Well, my first thought would be my girlfriend, but that's doubtful. Maybe Harley knows I'm back and wanted to say hi? On the other hand, it could be someone trying to trick me with rotten cookies."

But they smell awfully good, don’t they? And that’s definitely-probably your name scrawled on the box, albeit in a weird handwriting. This is a true moment of characters. Are you really just gonna stand there holding the box?

Yeah, that's definitely his name on the box, and sweets are his kryptonite. For a second, Pity thinks it could've been Taylor who sent them, but he doubts she bakes and her handwriting is much nicer. Maybe it's a kid from the Isle trying to play a prank on him now that he's back. Maybe it's poison... He really needs to hang out with more people than his sister. "I will... deal with these later." He sets them on his desk and leaves them for later, maybe he can ask Taylor about them when he sees her.

“I may or may not have kept tabs weekly on the incoming students, that’s not the point, the point is you’re back!” Taylor smiles happily at him, pulling back and reflexively reaching up to adjust the foam rose on the end of the needle she’s wearing around her neck. “I’m so glad you’re back, things have been... hard, around here.”

"I am back." He can't help but just beam at her for a second. Her smile and her excitement just add to how absolutely wonderful and beautiful he sees her. "Tell me everything, what've I missed?"

Pain: It's not even on the boy's radar. He's so focused on being a good kid.
