♦ Ooo, that sounds like fun actually. Though it’d be a little hard to play here, this Kindergarten pretty much goes around most of Homeworld!

Their voices echoed in the vast emptiness of the caverns, though Pink did pause momentarily to land on one of the many pillars, admiring what looked to be an ancient abandoned building that was crumbling into the walls. Had the city above once sprawled down here as well, long ago?

♦ I dunno why know one comes here, but my guess is cause there’s basically nothing left. And to most gems, that gives them no reason to come! Everyone’s so busy working on new colonies and finding new planets, after all! Making new gems like yourself is top priority!

Pink offers a glance over her shoulders with a big smile on her face, as she continued.

♦ That’s why Blue Diamond will be very relieved to have you back at her court! Don’t worry, I’ll make sure she doesn’t go too hard on you for getting lost, it gave me a chance to make a new friend after all.

And with that the two were off again, the larger gem shifting the conversation slightly so she could learn more about her new companion. It wasn’t often she got to talk to lower gems without getting saluted all the time, this was very refreshing!

♦ Soooo, tell me about the colony you’re from. What’s the planet like? Are the gems there nice? I’m not allowed to leave Homeworld without supervision, so tell me all the details!

“Aww, but that just means there’s so many more hiding places!”

As Blue hums in thought at Pink’s explanation, her mood only sours a bit when their actual destination is brought up. She was supposed to be using this time to think up a plan to get home, but Pink had been so nice & fun so far it was easy for it all to slip her mind.

Though, she does feel a happy burst of warmth when Pink refers to Blue as her friend.

“Hmmm...well, it’s really nice and bright. Lots of, um, ‘organic life’ everywhere. I mean, not where the Kindergarten is, but everywhere else! I know other gems don’t care about that kinda stuff, but...I dunno. It always makes me so happy just looking at everything.”

“The gems I know are really great, though! I have two sis-...friends that I’m with all the time too~” She wracks her brain for a moment to remember her sisters ‘official’ gem names, and sends a silent apology to Green for having to use her ‘prissy’ name.

“Morganite and Prasiolite. Morganite’s kind of bossy sometimes, but she’s suuuper good at making plans and stuff! And even though she can be kinda mean sometimes, Prasiolite’s really strong and is almost never scared of anything~”

♦ Ha ha, glad you’re so excited about this! Alright, hold on tight-

Clasping the smaller gem’s legs with her hands to make sure she’d stay in place, Pink practically shoots off from the ground with great speed, bringing the two high up into the air among the towering buildings of metal. But it seems Pink had a certain trajectory in mind, as the two quickly began to descend into a large hole that stretched for miles down into the city. As quickly as the two were enveloped in the bright lights of Homeworld, Pink and Blue were absorbed into the shadows of the long abandoned Kindergarten that lay just beneath the sprawling gem city.

The place had a…haunting atmosphere, given how empty and maze like it was, but Pink wasn’t deterred the least bit by the sight, quickly pushing forward and leaping off the walls through the maze.

♦ Nobody ever comes down here, so it’s a safe bet we won’t be spotted! It’s also the fastest shortcut to Blue’s place I know of, none of those big buildings blocking the way!

Seems the taller gem had come down here quite a bit, from how familiar she knew the routes through the vast caverns. Any normal gem likely would have gotten lost in an instant, with so few landmarks to guide the way. There was no end to the near identical walls filled with holes…

Blue had to hold back her whoop of excitement as they rocketed up into the air, as to keep any extra attention off themselves. That didn’t keep her from giggling in delight though, even as they descended into a dark, cavernous hole within the planet.

The small gem only had to wonder for a moment where exactly they were headed before she saw the holes. As much as she didn’t know about gemkind, she at least knew what a Kindergarten was, and this one was huge. Blue didn’t mind the quiet, eerie feeling of the place, as she was used to visiting the one nearest to Townsville back on Earth.

“So many holes...” Blue mused aloud. “The Kindergarten I know is pretty big, but not like this. How come nobody comes down here? I always like to go to mine and play Hide & Seek~”

Oooh this gem was so cute!! If she ever got to run her own colony, she’d definitely have to make a gem like this! The diamond’s smile grew when the other so willingly took her hand, pleased at how quickly this little Blue had warmed up to her.

♦ You can call me Pink. Its nice to meet you, Mini Blue!

After giving an introduction (and carefully avoiding her diamond title), Pink stood to her full height but quickly noticed a problem. Mini Blue was so short compared to her, that with Pink standing at her full height she’d accidentally picked her off the ground! That didn’t happen to Pink very often-

♦ Oh, whoops! Sorry, is it okay if I carried you? This’ll go a lot faster if I gave you a ride on my back! It’s not often I’m taller than another gem, haha.

With the route she had in mind, carrying the smaller gem might be a better idea. Especially with all the jumping around it involved-

Blue giggled in surprised delight at the other’s name, the coincidence of the naming situation not escaping her. 

“That’s what I call one of my sis-...friends! Nice to meet you too, um...Big Pink~!”

She’d almost forgotten that ‘normal’ gems didn’t have things like sisters, or regular families like Blue did with her own. It was a sad thought, really. of course, her information on anything gem related usually came from dubious sources. Namely, her enemies. So she didn’t have to believe everything they said on the matter if she didn’t want to!

However, any more thoughts on the matter were quickly pushed aside at Pink’s offer, and Blue practically lights up at the prospect of a piggyback ride.

“YES, PLEASE~!”

She excitedly hops in place for a moment before launching herself up into the air above them, only to float softly down onto Pink’s shoulders.

“Ready for takeoff, Captain Pink!”

♦ Ooooh, you must be from one of Blue’s newer colonies then!

That wasn’t too hard to believe, Blue and Yellow were always off somewhere colonizing planets and organizing take overs. No wonder this poor gem was so lost, she was from a completely different planet! Smiling in understanding, Pink let herself slip off of her perch and land softly in front of the (for once) smaller gem, bending down so the two were closer in height.

♦ Well never fear, I know the way to Blue’s tower! You can wait there to get assigned to a task, you look like a new kind of gem so you must be special! Although…

For a moment Pink Diamond peeked around the two of them, before kneeling in once again with a smaller smirk on her expression.

♦ We’ll have to go the secret way. I’m not supposed to be walking around like this, so don’t tell anybody you saw me!

While Blue wasn’t exactly keen on reaching her chosen destination, it at least gave her time to come up with reasons to not go there. Good reasons! Or, well...excuses, really.

For the time being, though, the other gem’s cheerful energy was starting to rub off on Blue’s own mood. She offers a small smile at the other gem’s proposal before nodding in agreement.

“That’s okay! I’m really good at keeping secrets~”

Blue then quietly trots over to the pink gem’s side and takes her hand. If she was going to have one possible friend in this situation, she was not gonna lose sight of her!

“My friends call me Blue, by the way. What about you?”

It was always a treat to be able to sneak out of that prison of a tower, and thus far the small diamond had yet to be seen, or caught by anyone who could report her. This put her in a pretty good mood as she leapt from structure to structure, utilizing her float ability to land harmlessly and bound further than any gem normally could. It was over a couple of barren ships that she took a break to take the sights in, marveling at all the kinds of gems there were walking around! Even the one that was hiding underneath her-

Wait…something was off about this little gem. Where was her diamond crest??

For a moment the two stared at each other wide-eyed, though Pink was likely the far more curious one out of the two. Thankfully it was her inquisitive nature that ruled her above all else, so it didn’t even cross her mind to view this odd gem as an enemy or rebel. In fact, she looked rather terrified-

♦ … Well, you seem different from the others!

Pink decided to speak first, at least to show she didn’t mean any harm, shifting herself so she was sitting on her perch rather than standing, a more passive posture overall.

♦ Have you just emerged? You look like you belong in Blue’s court, did you get lost on the way there? I get lost traveling around Homeworld too, this is a pretty big planet.

Okay, when Blue had thought about finding someone to help her, she really had someone a little more her own size in mind. But...the big, pink gem in front of her didn’t seem angry or anything. So that was a plus, Blue supposed. Of course, it was probably better to act like she knew something about other gems.

“Um...I guess so? I mean, I’m not new, but I’ve never been here before. I’m just-”

Oh shoot, what did Vanadinite tell her about gem stuff??

“-from another colony! I just warped here and got lost. Can...can you help me?”

Well...it wasn’t a lie, per say. Hopefully, the gem would be nice enough to not get mad at Blue for not telling her everything once Blue figured out what to do to get home.

If not...well, she was a fast runner.

Blue looked around at her new, and frankly unnerving, surroundings with wary eyes. She wasn’t on Earth, obviously. The buildings she was silently huddled between looked far too much like the weapons and ships that her and her sisters’ enemies used, all sleek and rigid.

And...cold.

Plus, there were waaaay more gems walking around than she’d ever seen in one place before. Ones wearing those diamond symbols that their enemies wore, at that. Sucking in a steadying breath through her nose, Blue quietly pulled her beloved toy octopus out of her gem space, hugging the purple plush to her chest.

“C’mon, Octi. M-maybe we’ll find somebody who can help us.”

im sorry, im on mobile and im not sure if you have a story for how the girls first fuse, but maybe one of their fusions could take the place of their imaginary friend?

((While a neat idea, if I did that it would have to be only 2 of the girls fusing, as their Dynamo/Black Opal fusion is...well...not suited for more ‘delicate’ situations. But even then, if I just had two of the girls fuse & beat Mike’s ‘imaginary’ friend, it would leave out one of them in terms of effort in defeating the enemy.))

((I think I’ll just have to rework the plot enough to where needing to invent an imaginary friend to beat Mike’s isn’t needed. There are some things you just can’t really get around when doing a crossover AU. X_X))

We're curious as to how your gonna do the imaginary friends episode thing (I forgot the episode title DX)

((hmmmm.

well at least gems/gem monsters with invisibility powers are a thing in SU, so that’s one part of the plot settled.

but im not sure how to really get to the point where they would need to make up someone to defeat said gem, since it’s not imaginary. just invisible. messing that up by just throwing mud or some other substance onto it to be able to see it would be enough for the girls to get the upper hand.

can’t really skip the episode tho, since it’s Mike’s introductory episode & I have him as one of the main friends for the girls in this AU.

if you or anybody else has some ideas on how to get the girls’ imaginary friend into the mix, feel free to drop an ask. :3 ))
