All About skekSaor

Age: 194 trine (late teens/early twenties)

Gender: Female-presenting

Role: Prince, heir to the Skeksis throne--although since the Emperor will live and rule forever, the title is effectively worthless.

Family: skekso the Emperor (sole parent), skekOs the Princess (cross-dimensional sibling), urClay the Valet (cross-dimensional cousin), skekCel the Assassin (cross-dimensional auntcle)

Friends: skekRho the Pâtissier, skekEw the ???, skekGold the Supervisor, skekSha the Astronomer?

Personality: While most other offspring of the original Twice-Nine come from worlds where they have many peers, skekSaor is the only Thra-born Skeksis of her world. This has been integral in forming her relationships with her Elders, and her view of her own role in the hierarchy of the Skeksis Empire.

Being the result of parthenogenetic reproduction, skekSaor is the Emperor's genetic clone, though one would not know it from her behaviour. The exemplar of meek subservience, she has been taught from her earliest memories that her role is something she must strictly adhere to, and that her title is something she must earn--only then will she be worthy of attention or affection from her only parent. Instruction in how to earn this title, however, has been sorely lacking.

Most of skekSaor's life has been spent in the care of skekSil the Chamberlain, and in the tutelage of skekOk the Scrollkeeper and skekZok the Ritual-Master. Despite her devotion to upholding the status quo, she has developed something of a rebellious streak, which has only worsened since she began interacting the progeny of other worlds. What impact this will have on her home universe, and the consequences therein, remains to be seen.

Likes: Reading, learning new things, calligraphy, meeting new people.

Dislikes: When those same new people break into her room and trash her belongings, being pushed to behave "dangerously", raised voices, foul smells.

My apologies. ‘Tis...I have been terribly busy. The Scroll-keeper has assigned me an essential history of the Empire. He has finished the latest round of revisions, and wishes me to review his work.

I am honoured to be able to aide him in this. Surely he is not merely shirking his work off onto me.

But it is...quite the large volume, and takes much of my time.

I do hope to have it done some time soon...

(The item she produces looks as though it has been chewed on by the very creature that produced it.

(While there is still a decently-sized section of un-mangled material, the edges are ragged, clearly cut with a tool of insufficient sharpness. And all along there are threads–plain, thin things, the sort used for mending one’s clothes–still hanging where they had torn, their strength not enough the hold the hide in its desired shape.

(There are broken fragments of sewing needles there as well.)

Right, my advice would be to cut and remove the thread barely holding this thing together, trim the edges of the hide so that it’s clean and not ragged, and..

[He hesitates before sighing heavily.]

You can use my taxidermy tools… They’re much sharper, stronger, and far superior to the weak stuff you’ve been using, though I wont let you leave the room with them. My workbench will be made available to you and you’ll have complete access to all my scrolls and books on the proper sewing and cutting technique. I’ll also be watching over your shoulder.

(Saor’s head descends between her shoulders at Chi’s admonishment. Yes, she has made a mess out of it, as she tends to do with most things she attempts.

(She perks up, however, when the Taxidermist offers the use of his tools.)

I-I can? You would…truly allow me their use?

Yes! Yes, that sounds marvelous! When may I begin?

(She may be swiveling her head about for these very tools right now, as though she expects them to simply be sitting out in the open.)

We can start now while I have some free time to spare.

[He clears the workbench of his current project, so it isn’t in the range of inexperienced hands weilding sharp tools. He then looked over the partly mangled hide the Prince had shown him only moments ago and brought out some books and tools necessary for her project.]

Now.. I don’t want you injuring yourself in your haste to fix this mess so calm yourself. I do have bandages and the like for tending small injuries, but I’m no doctor.

You can start by removing the current stitching and trimming the ragged edges of the hide.

Oh! Ah, yes, of course…

(She lays the hide on the workbench, trying–and failing–to smooth it out across the surface. Calm, she must be calm, nevermind how she’s practically vibrating with excitement.

(The stitching, for the most part, she can pull out with her fingers, and the needle fragments as well. It’s tedious work, and in a handful of spots she has to work to remove the thread, but it comes undone without the need for tools.

(The edges, however…)

…I have a pair of scissors, in my tower. They, ah…have not been sharpened in some time.

Yes I can tell.. perhaps you should bring them to me every so often to get them sharpened and no worries, I wont tell my parent about the theft.

For now use my scissors here to clean up the edges. Try not to take too much off and try not to cut a finger.

[He watches over her shoulder silently. Being cautious to not utter a word until the task was done.]

(There is an initial moment where she stumbles, the shears gliding through the hide with far more ease than she expected, causing her to take off more than intended. Thankfully, it is an easily-correctable mistake, and she handles them with more care after that.

(Bit by bit she neatens the edges under Chi’s watchful eye. Despite his warning, she manages not to cut herself with them, although she clips a nick out of her pointer talon on one particularly troublesome corner.

(When she has eliminated all the mangled material, and returned to hide to a more neat-looking shape, she steps back, laying the scissors carefully on the table.)
