Goodbye For Now

Okay, this might come as a bit of a shock, especially after so recently having announced an end of an involuntary hiatus, but I shall confirm it now; I am intentionally leaving the League of Legends fandom for now. I might come back, I might not, but it is highly likely that I won’t. It’s a shame to leave such an expansive fandom, but I am taking my well-being, and the well-being of my relationship with my boyfriend, into consideration first and foremost.

See, I loved League of Legends. I’ve been in love with it ever since Wukong was the hot and new Champion. WUKONG. That is ages ago. And so it is with a heavy heart that I leave such a fandom that has been part of me for so long, but I honestly cannot continue to be part of it and enjoy it like I used to, thanks to Riot making their god-awful changes to the lore that I simply cannot approve of (God knows if anyone remembers my tirades of anger when the yordle rework was announced). This new lore is just a convoluted mess that Riot refuses to sort through in my opinion, and instead of taking what they have and ELABORATING on it, like any GOOD WORLDBUILDER AND STORY WRITER SHOULD DO, they just interpret it as “Oh well elaborating on it means we have to redo everything about insert-champion/region-here”. No, no you don’t have to! You can take what you have and explain further upon it! Like you RECENTLY DID WITH ANNIE AND HER LORE.

If Riot had done a lot more of that. If they had taken what they had and explained it further, BUILT UPON THE FOUNDATIONS, then I would not have come to the decision I’m making today. But sadly, their lore and worldbuilding team are a bunch of fucking monkeys with screwdrivers, and I just can’t be arsed with their failures anymore. I never spoke up about this, but when Swain’s rework was launched, and they totally remade him and his history and that of Noxus’ progression, I had a literal emotional breakdown. I had a meltdown, I broke into an uncontrollable mess of tears and anger, because I suddenly could not include my Kled (@cantankerous-bastard) into the lore because he suddenly made no sense the way I had developed him and his relation with every single important Noxian Champion. Which includes Swain. And it took the help of multiple friends and my own boyfriend to help me calm down proper, and I was still so shaken up afterwards that I just didn’t know what to do.

So I am not going to risk myself that danger anymore. I am not potentially setting myself up for yet another fucking emotional breakdown again, because it was so horrible and I never wanna be that sad ever again unless I can help it. Which I am doing right now. And I am leaving the League fandom. Probably never to come back. Does this mean that I suddenly hate League? No. That I’ll stop playing it and having fun with my boyfriend in custom bot matches where I just play Marksman Twisted Fate for laughs? No. I will not stop playing it, nor will I stop liking it... but not as it is right now. For what it WAS. For what it meant for me and him back then, when the lore made actual sense to us.

Don’t waste your anons on hating on me for this decisions. I’ll probably not read them anyway. And this is officially goodbye for me. Thank you all who have become my friends during my time here, and especially thank you for letting me meet my lovely and beautiful boyfriend of 3+ years as of now.
