Dom raised both her eyebrows.“oh those are very good. I read them all. Hey when you’re done you wanna spar?”

Winter nodded minutely after a moment of thought. "I would not mind. After I finish my book."

"Hello Bucky." Victoria walked up to him in her pink yoga pants and sports bra to match while he was working out.(the-sphera)

“Hey, doll,” Bucky smiled as Victoria walked over in all pink. “How’ve you been?”@the-sphera

She smiled “I’ve been ok..how have you been handsome?” She asked grabbing a yoga mat and laying it on the ground.

“Been alright. Exercising the new arm Shuri made me.” Bucky flexed his upgraded vibranium arm. “It’s pretty nice, this one. I think she added may of the upgrades she did you make Tony jealous.” He smirked, remembering Shuri’s childish enjoyment of Tony’s dumbfounded face at a few of her inventions.

She walked up to him and gently touched the new vibrainium arm. “It’s really nice..I like it a lot.” She giggled at the idea of Tony being jealous of Shuri’s inventions. “Oh I bet he is going to be jealous definitely of this fine arm.”

Bucky smirked. “Check this out,” He said, “Caly, can you play my workout music please.” He addressed the arm.

“Right away,Sarge.” BVB started transmitting from the speakers in the gym.

“Shuri made me my own AI.” He said smugly. “I named her Calypso.”

Victoria’s brows raised “wow that’s awesome! What else can it do??” She asked excitedly.

"Two words," He said, extending his forefinger, twitching it three times. "Sonic. Finger." He said with a grin once the tip of his finger started emitting a faint blue glow. "We've been binging Doctor Who."

As he lay down an extra blanket on the bed Bucky remember what coming to the tower was like, his first few weeks spent restless, sleeping with both eyes open and all senses on high alert. It took Steve migrating to his guest room for a while and Nat and Sam taking over his couch for him to be able to sleep like a normal human being. He’d clocked out for exactly 17 hours and 23 minutes the first time, and when he woke up all three were still there keeping watch for him. He never said it but they knew he was grateful.

Bucky planned on doing that tonight for his guest, because otherwise there’s be no way Loki would feel safe enough to fall asleep, and he might end up not anyway, but that didn’t change plans. He’d left him a change of comfortable clothes on the bed, a bottle of water and some snacks he had stashed in his own bedroom were now sitting on the bedside table.

Bucky went back to his room, changed into a pair of sweats and a hoodie, grabbed his laptop and went back to the living room.

“I actually have some unfinished mission reports that got piled with my recent situation that I need to get done, it’ll take a good while so I’ll be up all night here if you need anything.” He said, making a show of planting himself on the couch and flexing his shoulder muscles for a long night. “Your room is the first door on the right, bathroom is the door right next to it, extra toothbrushes in the drawers.”

Loki tried to focus back on the television as he ate but it was too late. The action was flicking between men in fur-collared cloaks, and a white-haired girl in a diaphanous gown to whom he’d missed the introduction and the plot didn’t make any sense any more.

He didn’t relish disabusing his host of the expectation that sleep would come with safety. His mind never stopped anymore; running full pelt at all times of the day and night, and filling what dreams he had with faces he’d rather forget. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d slept more than two-to-three hours at a stretch.

Bucky had returned, but it took effort to wrest his mind back into the present, let alone say any of what troubled him. It was unnecessary anyway. He’d figure it out soon enough. It had been a while since his last ‘nap’, and he’d expended a lot of energy even the food could not replenish. Best to get it over with, where his outbursts would not accidentally destroy his host’s work.

“I’ll retire then.” It sounded like he was dismissed anyway, as he stood. “Though, for what it’s worth, I wish you hadn’t made the effort.”

“Buck,” he began after a moment, “don’t get me wrong, I’m glad you’re back, but I feel like there’s a couple of things have got lost in the mud. We aren’t the bad guys here, and we sure as hell aren’t treating him like They treated you. He’s done a lot of pretty unforgivable stuff, not just what he did here. Just because he did something good doesn’t excuse that, but we’re treating him just fine. Better than most, even, compared to jail.

"I know it looks like that, pal, I was there, but we just don’t know. He could be playing us exactly that angle; it’s certainly his MO, from what we know from him. He fooled all of us before, and he doesn’t answer when we ask about it now.”

Meanwhile, Loki took a moment to steady himself, glancing over his shoulder to check Bucky had gone before turning around. He took a breath, in and out, and reached for the bandage in the first aid kit. He could heal it with magic, but the dull ache cut through the memories, and right now it grounded him. He tied it like a boxer, out of habit more than use, and after a moment more helped himself to the water and one of the snacks. They seemed safe, in their own packets.

When he emerged his mask was back in place; outwardly calm. In Bucky’s little living room he found a pack of playing cards, and started building a tower, willing his hands not to shake.

"I think I can recognize signs of starvation pretty well when I see them, Stevie." He said quietly. "Look, I know what he's done, Steve," Bucky took a breath and held on to it for a moment. "I know it was bad. But call it a gut feeling, instinct, whatever," He looked into Steve's eyes and saw the skepticism, saw the worry that Loki did do something to his head after all.

"I just need you to trust me on this. There's more to him than we know. There's stuff we don't know that might change the equation." He finally said, trying to will Steve to just understand that this is more than just a reaction to an act of good or gratitude.

His enhanced hearing picked up Loki light steps moving about in the living room before settling. He signed and begged Steve with his eyes not to say or do anything stupid before he exited his bedroom with the blond on his heel.

Loki building a tower of cards with slightly shake hands was not what he expected. It was oddly a nostalgic sight. Teenage winters spent indoors with his best friend trying to ignore the cold unblocked by walls. Trying to teach Steve poker and the blond getting bored and stacking cards into pyramids and creative buildings instead. The taste of onion and cabbage soup his mother used to make for them.

He mentally shook his head of the image. "There's a story about three pigs and houses they build that I can't remember." He blurted before his filter caught up with his mouth.
