Dawn Knight and his guardian fairies- Was he set up to be their ‘champion’ from the start?
*I do not think what I’m saying is necessarily canon just ideas and theories I have so far based on info we have right now that will probably change . Yes I know Dawn did a bad thing*
As of right now with book 8, we get more info on Briar Valley's past outside of the dreams, where we learn that over a thousand years ago, Night Fae invaded Day Fae land, took the glow from them took their castle, and took their resources and still have them to this day.
This in turn led to the Day Fae getting involved with the humans that invaded hundreds of years later. Lilia thinks the Day Fae were the ones that told the humans about the glow, as they probably wouldn't have known what it was until Day Fae gave them that info/allied themselves with them.
That's where Dawn comes in. Besides Silver, he is the only known human with fairy guardians so far. We don't know how long he's known his fairies, but they were with him since he was young, they gave him gifts (his gold hair and beauty), he was given a WISH PIECE, and a sword with the ability to kill a dragon fae- Let me go into why this is crazy and overpowered, and how it ties back to Sleeping Beauty,
Wish pieces, that we know of so far, have the ability to create miracles. The glow cured Silver's grandfather's incurable illness, and Dawn's ring was able to undo death. Dawn's fairies gave him something obscenely powerful that, as it also protected Silver for over 400 years, probably protected him from facing serious harm during battle.
I would not be surprised if Dawn's swordsmanship skills could've also been a fairy gift, as Henrick said it was "all he was good for," or it could be tied to Dawn's sword which could have been blessed by his fairies from the start as Phillip's sword was given to him and blessed by fairies.
STYX had to create weapons specific to defeat dragons, a regular sword wouldn't just do it. That's why Dawn's sword prowess and his sword functioning just as strong as Styx's anti-dragon weaponry makes me start to think there were a lot of things set up even before the king got sick with Dawn.
Dragon fae are extremely powerful, with the ability to destroy buildings and control weather with just their emotions. Maleanor was also confident in her ability to defeat Dawn, which I think normally it wouldn't be a problem for her to defeat a regular human- but Dawn's wish piece, sword and fairy gifts changed that (he asked them to give him strength in some way)
This reminded me of the climax of Sleeping Beauty, if you haven't seen the film or haven't seen it in a long time, you'd probably think Phillip defeated Maleficent entirely on his own...But it was primarily the three good fairies that did most of the work.
They broke Phillip out of the prison, they gave him his sword and shield, Flora especially protected Phillip by getting rid of attacks that would have hit him and helped him leave the forbidden mountain, and the good fairies literally blessed his sword to kill Maleficent.
I don't think Maleficent's defeat would have been possible without the good fairies, so that has me thinking- why on Earth was Dawn given so many gifts from fairies?
Why would they give him a wish piece? Why would they gift him weapons and gifts that help him defeat Maleanor? He was just an orphan that came from nowhere, taken by the Istvans to be their knight.
It makes me think that the day fae might have wanted to enlist a human to defeat a Draconia from the start.
This is just a theory, and for all we know the Day Fae were just taking care of Dawn without an ulterior motive and became opportunistic when the king got sick and they knew the glow could cure him (not sure if any human even knew what dawn's ring could do) and they were complacent with Henrick's sadistic nature (that has me raising an eyebrow even more, I'm still confused about his character in general)
Things didn't end up well with the humans and Day Fae regardless, with Dawn and Leah being murdered and those involved with Bladevale that lived and fled elsewhere.
Maybe things will become more clear as we get more info outside of the dreams, possibly more from Malleus and Lilia and even Day Fae like the housewarden of the Aurora dorm in RSA might be
But I keep remembering how Phillip really was a means of saving Aurora and defeating Maleficent for the good fairies. The good fairies moved the entire plot of Sleeping Beauty.
They changed Aurora's curse, they left Aurora alone to be pricked by the spinning wheel, they put the kingdom to sleep, they broke Phillip out of prison, and they protected him and gave him the tools to defeat Maleficent for them.
With the further inclusion of Day Fae, it really feels like Briar Valley's history is far deeper than just the humans, just like with Sleeping Beauty, I really want to see where this possible Maleficent + her minions & the Good Fairies concept can go with twst
