As someone who’s read the webnovel I can’t wait for the flag color club to watch Dancing with the Tide.
Also yes, a very rare case of me having read the webnovel before the drama was even announced!

How many jokes are we about to see online about a cuck beach chair. 😭
P.S. Fan Xiao you lowkey stole this man away from Lu Zhen (Yes I know You Shulang and Lu Zhen were in a relationship that was pretty much over but Fan Xiao didn’t know and he didn’t care!) so just STOPPP OMGGG.
They made everyone so hot, and for what?
I’m still waiting before I watch the movie so I’m only going by pictures. But no seriously everyone got an insane glow-up.
Having “Spotlight on Omegas at AO3” followed by “AO3 is Exiting Open Beta!”? Revolutionary.
I swear if there wasn’t one week left I would’ve dropped Siren’s Kiss lol.
I have to laugh because Woo-seok looks so shocked seeing Jun-beom's obsessive boards about her, like he was not doing the same a few episodes ago.
Oh the chills I have with Kim Jung-hyun's acting this episode.
I get so hyped when I see mini drama actors in idol dramas. Do I even need to say who stole the spotlight from Pursuit of Jade?
I had to put Swords Into Plowshares on hold because In Your Radiant Season + Siren’s Kiss + Pursuit of Jade/Chasing Jade + Phantom Lawyer made it nearly impossible for me when I was watching 2-3 episodes of Swords Into Plowshares and then rewatching scenes from those 2-3 episodes because we have such a large cast of characters and a large setting AND just the politics of it all.
Out of all of these dramas I’m now irritated that I put Swords Into Plowshares on hold for Pursuit of Jade. Honestly? I’ve just spoiled myself for the drama through Tumblr and I’m going to finish the drama on my own time.
Whenever I think that Xie Zheng and Fan Changyu will talk things out during a big revelation, Xie Zheng actually starts talking.
If I was Changyu I’d start to think that he’d wanted to become a scholar but his family forced him to become a general. But nope, just him being stupidly jealous for no reason. She’s literally ridden into battle for you at this point dude.
I was wrong, he is capable of making progress! Before he used to get slapped now he gets punched! Somewhere Sui Yuanqing is writhing in jealousy.
I don’t care if this is a historical. Someone get these kids out of here.
Siren’s Kiss Episodes 1 & 2
You know what’s funny? Seol Ah is (at this point of the show) supposed to be the mysterious, possibly murderous one. She’s the “danger”. And yet I just want everyone to get away from her and leave her alone.
Yu Seok just needs to stop. Even if Seol Ah is guilty the way he’s been going about this is making me shake my head.
Mr. Baek? Please stay away from Seol Ah and never shake her hand nor look at her again.
The auctioneer, Yun Ji, who died at the beginning of the show? Well, she is dead and STILL creeped me out! Stay away from Seol Ah and stop writing her schedule on your schedule especially with those notes!!!
She has one normal friend around her and I’m starting to wonder if he’s even normal or not. If he is, is he up next on the chopping block?
I JUST read Extra 9 of Four-Faced Buddha and yes, You Shulang, THIS is how you react to a marriage proposal lmfao!
Like I feel like I need to make a post about Shulang and Lu Zhen’s relationship or find someone else who’s talked about it because it’s crazy to me how Shulang was once like, “Kk sure I’ll marry you I guess we can go to another country and stuff,” (in the show he was like, “Kk KIDDO marriage is a commitment).
That relationship was just weird dude…
P.S. Looks like these two have finally settled on who’s the husband in the relationship. I guess they divide it between Fan Xiao being the husband in bed and You Shulang being the husband in the marriage overall?
You know what’s so messed up? I was recommended To My Shore/Four-Faced Buddha based on Thousand Autumns.
Then when the show finishes and I read the webnovel I go online and people are comparing it to fanfiction of S*** Q** and Li Shuo. BITCH WHAT THE FUCK?! The truth is I would’ve never watched this show while it was on-air if I’d known it was being compared to the 188 series. But by the time I found out I was in way too deep even after the show had ended and borderline resentful because I was also very obsessed with analyzing it. I think it’s because of You Shulang.
Also very, very unpopular opinion (please don’t kill me) but I find You Shulang and Fan Xiao’s fucked-up romance much, much more interesting than what I’ve read in the 188 main trilogy so far.
I genuinely cannot remember the last time I had a webnovel that I’ve read before the drama and I’ve enjoyed the adaptation as much as How Dare You?!
Cheng Lei has never been this memorable to me. I cannot see anyone else playing Xiahou Dan. It was iconic. I just know that no webnovel to cdrama adaptation is going to make me feel this way.
I haven’t blogged about How Dare You because it suddenly became popular with the live-action and the tag got so flooded I figured I’d just reblog when I felt like it.
But as someone who watched S1 of the donghua and started the webnovel last year it’s a bit jarring watching everyone lose it over Xiahou Dan’s recent actions. The drama is actually quite faithful to the webnovel. Xiahou Dan is insane. He has been killing people from the beginning of the story, even Yu Wanyin takes note of this. He didn’t start killing people now. He didn’t only kill people during his assassination attempt. He’s been killing people. His goal until now was to survive in this world and he’d almost given up on that too until Yu Wanyin.
If you’ve survived in the world by being ruthless then yes that will come out in other aspects of your life because it’s (unfortunately) what you are/have become. Obviously Xiahou Dan knows it’s messed up doing this with Yu Wanyin. But knowing it’s messed up doesn’t matter in the place of his goals, protecting Yu Wanyin.
Yu Wanyin really shouldn’t have left the palace but of course there is no way she would’ve ever anticipated that reaction. As a modern person who’s recently transmigrated it was so hard for her to punish a maid who’d betrayed her. But Xiahou Dan has been experiencing this kind of stuff and much worse since he was a middle-school kid.
I think it’s her decision to accept him or not. But I just don’t get how these events are a surprise to people? I actually applaud the story for going there.
The Last 3 Chapters of Four-Faced Buddha (To My Shore) Main Story
So for those who don't know there was a lot of stuff in the second breakup era that was removed. There were definitely scenes there that should've been added.
But overall I understand why a lot of scenes were removed. I think the scenes with Qin Zhiyang would've been hard to adapt because in To My Shore everyone is in Thailand (in the webnovel everyone is in China). You Shulang goes back to China and Fan Xiao follows him on over there. Xue Baotian's scenes were easy, just turn them into phone calls. Bai Pengyu being vengeful enough to follow Fan Xiao to China also makes sense.
But I just can't get over how the last three chapters couldn't have gotten adapted? Was it just not enough content for an episode? I'd heard about the lack of funds but man I felt like we could've pushed for the end of the main story at least.
We get some pretty interesting parallels to their first relationship. There is also some disbelief and caution in these couple of chapters often on Fan Xiao's end that seemed bittersweet before it got sweet.
Like here:
And here:
But THIS is what I wanted from Epsiode 15 or a possible Episode 16:
I didn’t post all of it because I’d have reached my limit on my phone. But this is a pretty good place to end the story. We get that funny moment where it’s exposed that Fan Xiao had one thing he did that You Shulang didn’t know about. And then MOST IMPORTANTLY this discussion of their relationship.
Idol I really made sure to say that no sasaengs (especially their reputation) were harmed in this story lmfao.
