I really love the idea of Simon’s injuries and amputations being both from Ellie/the blood ocean -and- psychosis.

The blood cutting his skin open, the Iron Lung breathing for him, wanting Simon to be a Part of the Blood, taking his arm, 100%

But also! The radiation, the alcohol poisoning, the claustrophobia, the starvation, etc. Simon clawing at his own flesh, ripping it open, vomiting stomach bile instead of blood, hallucinating the voices and the dripping. Like the Blood as a sentient thing is certainly not fucking helping, but I want more credit to go to the horror of the “mundane” as well.

I know the worldbuilding when it comes to the Eden cult is really interesting, but I do wish people would acknowledge Simon being a prisoner and a slave more. Like. Idk depending on if you are using game lore, how you see Simon’s age, he’s been The Convict for half his life. And he wasn’t born on Eden either. He was brought to that station as a kid.

There’s a high chance he’s spent longer as a slave for the COI than a Son of Eden. That would affect his behavior and his memories just as much, if not more, than Eden would.
