What it Means to Be Pretty.

What does it mean to be pretty?

Pretty is being curvy.

Thin in the right places, and thicker in others.

What does it mean to be pretty?

Pretty is like a red rose in a field of green.

In the spotlight shining against monotonous hues.

-

What does it mean to be pretty?

Pretty is a wave in the ocean.

Big and bold, with grace and voice.

What does it mean to be pretty?

Pretty is being sociable.

Friendly and kind to everyone.

What does it mean to be pretty?

Pretty is confidence.

Unafraid to speak out and put others in their place.

What does it mean to be pretty?

Pretty is perfection,

but what is perfection?

-

Perfection is being smart and quirky,

also quiet and snarky,

and everything else.

-

You are pretty. 

You don’t have to be the skinny blonde

or the curvy brunette.

-

You are perfect being you and I love you for that.

Loneliness in 2020

A quiet room with walls coated in silence. A feeling like your body is submerged deep underwater. I hear nothing but muffled sounds of the teal clock on the wall going “tik, tok, tik, tok”. Silence is suffocating in this dark room with only my inner demons to speak to. I haven’t reached out to anyone in fear of rejection, nor have they reached out to me for that matter. I feel like no one wants me anymore, like I was a throw-away friend. When it comes down to it, I am completely, and utterly alone. With no one to talk to and no where to go. With nothing but my scary thoughts and a blade beside my bed ready for tomorrow.

The Blank Page

Hi my name is Joanne but you can call me Jo.

 I’ve decided to take up a new hobby and that is poetry. In the past, I made efforts to write consistently, but every time I started a new notebook I would never continue. This is my first attempt at writing poetry and I hope that with the help of the community I can grow and become more eloquent. Please take a look  at my writing and tell me how you feel about it! Cheers! 

(P.S. I want constructive criticism so don’t be afraid to dissect my word. I’m new to writing on tumblr so please be patient with me as I figure out the works.)

A blank page is intimidating,

it’s something no one admits.

The thought of ruining a blank page

is a felony that you can’t commit.

-

Despite a rough start,

words can pour from your mind.

But the words are all jumbled,

and before you know it you’re confined.

-

Thinking is hindered when words are written,

an idea on your mind that continues to grow.

Its the thought of failure, I can’t be smitten,

and I hope the words can flow from my throat.

-

People are the same you know,

we don’t admit it and we won’t show.

The first words spoken become the worst,

but eventually we will both come first.

-

A friendship soon blooms, but words it will consume until it is no more.

-

The words on the page fade.

There are no longer words to be written.

In an effort to save it,

you continue the repetition.

-

But soon you’ll realize that you can’t continue the resistance.

And that’s why relationships fade from existence.
