Hello and welcome to my tiny blog of wonders. This is were I will post about my writing and the special interests that usually come tagging along with those sorts of things.
I’m assaily on AO3.
Currently (if you couldn’t tell), we’re serving Umbrella Academy Five Flavored Angst.
My fics under the cut -->
Long fics:
Tangled in the Hanging Tree -- Right after the season 2 ending cliffhanger, Five’s beat to hell and his siblings are finally starting to take notice.
One day I will finish this one.
Kenopsia -- No sparrows, the Umbrellas land back home after the events in the 60′s and attempt to acclimate to being in each other’s lives again. It’s not easy, to say the least.
I might add more chapters if i ever get re-inspired, but it can be read as complete for now, just with some untied plot threads.
Howling at the Moon -- Five is now a permanent resident of the Hotel Oblivion. The rooms are crap, the service is worse, and he’s pretty sure his family left him here.
Liminal space horror inspired torture fic, season 3 didn’t happen au where i take the Hotel-as-a-prison concept from the comics and go hog wild with it. December 2025 update: I'm still working on this fic and hope to start posting chapters next year, but i am always down to talk about this fic in the meantime.
Short(er) fics:
spark and flicker with monsters much bigger -- Five fights off a home invasion and his sibling help him pick the pieces up after.
in the comfort of familiar armor -- For all the bitching Five did about being an adult, he was still very much a child.
candid -- Five falls asleep on Luther and Diego nearly gets photographic evidence. Nearly.
The Longest Roads Lead to Home -- No Sparrows AU, Five gets kidnapped and it goes poorly for the kidnapper.
The best piece of writing advice I can give is that you should strive to be sincere rather than original.
You can't force originality. Originality will arise as a natural consequence of sincerity. Make the story completely and apologetically yours, and originality will come by virtue of it being your story.
there will never be anything as funny as the mutual disbelief between long form and short form fic writers about each other's style.
short form writers look at people writing 100k+ fics as though this is some sort of talent given as part of a fae bargain, that the commitment required shows some sort of ungodly mental fortitude.
meanwhile long form writers look at people writing 1000 word one shots like god I would cut off my left nipple to be able to say anything concisely. i would love to play with multiple ideas. free me from the shackles of this child I have birthed. i love them but I now must take them to t-ball and doctor's appointments and they're going to destroy everything I own.
it’s so special to me that so much of fan culture is textual analysis for the love of the game. like thank god there are people in my phone who are also thinking about this thing i love so much that they are writing transformative fiction as character studies and setting clips of the show to music with theme-relevant lyrics and writing long text posts analyzing every line of dialogue like!! yay!!!
i did find it btw but having a COMPUTER address me like it’s a person sent me into such an incandescent rage i nearly pitched my phone clear across the room
the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be apart of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
fun fact holes in the ground created by bison rolling in mud form important habitats for other creatures, providing shallow ponds for amphibians to lay their eggs
