âI think itâd be a lucky day for Big Foot,â she laughed. âSixteen? Holy shit,â the brunette was astounded. âMy foot would fit in half of that. Thatâs kind of cool, though. I guess all foot sizes do matter at Skateland,â she shrugged. It would be nice to find that inclusivity anywhere else but this was Louisiana. âIâll take the seven, thanks.âÂ
âNow I canât stop imagining big foot trying to roller skate,â He chuckled, wondering if he was at least more coordinated than him. âWe know people come here to skate so we try to make sure everyone can.â Even if they had big feet. âYou were right, your foot would fit in half of that,â He said as he made his way over to the sevenâs. âAre you skating for any special reason tonight?â

Lou didnât like not being in control of himself, not to mention that it took a lot to get him drunk considering his size. As the red head fell in front of him, he bent down to help her up, it was not fun falling drunk or sober. "I think youâre just drunk, no offense.â The last he wanted to do was offend her by stating the obvious but she had to know, right? âBut, thank you.â He knew was somewhat attractive, even if he really didnât think so just because of the few people that had told him before. âAre you alright? On your way home or?â

the names of the places in town seemed so comical to her , she steps outside the bar for a few seconds . the joint between her lips , as she lights it up with the golden lighter . her sweet escape , nothing seemed to calm her nerves as much as this , looking over at the man who has just walked out seconds after her â do you need a light ? âÂ

"Sure.â He didnât really smoke, he was more into weed on certain days and only smoked socially. Lou didnât find himself addicted to it but he was around it all the time. He was sure the damage had been done on his lungs already. Not to mention the last thing he wanted to do was insult her by not taking a cigarette of hers. âAnd a cigarette if thatâs cool, I donât have any on me.â He gave a shrug, âIâll owe you. You know, in the future Iâll definitely make sure to repay you in one way or another if youâre okay with that.âÂ

Roller Skating was fun and she really didnât care what anyone said. Sheâd always enjoyed it as a kid and still did as an adult. Even though it had taken some time to get back in the swing of it, she had been making weekly trips to Skateland to unwind. Plus, maybe she would make some new friends or meet the love of her life in some super cute way. Doubtful, but hey, a girl can dream. âItâs neat they have a wide range for all the customers though. I love that.â Everett was all about inclusion. The place would be closing soon and she had her skates ready to turn in for the night. âOh I just need to return these. How long have you worked here?â She asked to make conversation.
He gave her a nod, âYeah, I think we never have to worry about not having a size for someone.â Which was good because the last thing he wanted to do was turn someone down. âUh, a few years. Honestly, the days sorta get jumbled together and then the years start to. I havenât really been counting either.â This wasnât what he wanted to do with his life, but there wasnât much else for him to do either. And now that half of his life was being devoted to this club, he wasnât sure what else he could even do. He was trapped. âHow long have you been coming here?âÂ

Lucian doesnât annoy her quite as much as he did a few months ago â but that doesnât necessarily mean that sheâs jumping for joy that heâs part of the club now. While sheâs started to feel a little less prickly around him and can sometimes even find him to be amusing, if nothing else, she still thinks heâs far too soft to be in the lifestyle and canât help but worry heâs going to end up as dead weight and get someone hurt. But this isnât the place to get into that, and the last thing she wants to do is make him cry at work again. She hums at his response, nodding. âCanât imagine someone with size sixteen feet being graceful enough for skates in the first place,â she shrugs before furrowing her brows at his question. âGiant clown feet? No. Thank god. I canât imagine findinâ shoes is exactly an easy feat.â Pun intended.Â
âIâm sure some basketball players are that size and can probably skate without a problem,â He definitely would be a lot less coordinated if he had bigger feet. âIf you know where to look, itâs not bad. I just wouldnât recommend going to a kids place if you have big feet. Thatâs like asking for a disaster but I digress,â He didnât want to annoy Rowan by talking about feet. âYou know, I kinda feel like you come here a lot more than others. I should probably start giving you the family discount. I think youâve paid your dues already. I mean, if you want. I know weâre not family or anything, I just, wanted to express my gratitude cause it helps me keep my job too.âÂ

Bowie canât help but to smile when he mentions being open to the experience, knowing itâs important. He isnât wrong. All of this only works if the client theyâre working with keeps an open heart and an open mind. Still, they find it endlessly endearing as they nod. âYouâre a perfect candidate, baby. Come on. Follow me,â They tilt their head towards the back of the store before turning away from him and heading in that direction. âI just met you, baby, so a past life reading might not be as easy,â Bowie explains as they walk, naturally talking with their hands despite their back being to him. Maybe another time, when they have a better connection with his psyche. Reaching the office, they push the door open to reveal the cozy room thatâs every bit of Bowie. Crushed, purple velvet chairs. Vintage, wooden desk. Bright colors and house plants. The very opposite of what people usually expect when being invited into the lair of a psychic. âIâm Bowie, by the way,â They introduce themself, grinning at him over their shoulder as they make their way behind the desk.
Perfect candidate. Perfect. Something he never really heard before. He abides after they speak, following them to wherever they were going. âDo you need to know me for a while for that one to be accurate?â He really didnât know much about this stuff. He looked around once they entered the room, wondering if the colors were sort of on purpose, if they were supposed to bring something out of him. âLucian, you can call me Lou. Or not. Just donât call me late for dinner.â He couldnât resist telling that joke, hoping it would break the ice between him and well, was it appropriate to call them a psychic? He had no idea. âSo should I sit down?âÂ

âLosing? Iâd say youâve already lost it.â Remi countered with a cheeky smile as she chewed on her straw. âWeâre going to the diner âcause theyâve got that two for one special tonight.â she reminded Lou, although she frowned slightly at him forgetting. âLou, is everything okay?â more often that not, everything was fine because he possessed the âwater off a duckâs backâ mindset. But Remi was acutely aware of all the changes going on with the patch over, knowing that the shift affected even the lower ranking members.
âIâm sorry, Iâm jusâ, I guess Iâm getting old since Iâm almost as old as you now,â He joked, matching her smile. âRight, a twofer,â He repeated, hoping this time it would sink in. âIâm actually really hungry so this is good to look forward to.â Soon enough, heâd be off and theyâd be on their way to the diner. âEverythingâs fine. I mean, everythingâs as fine as it can be. Iâm just trying to stay afloat. Doing this and now also being in a motorcycle club, itâs a lot.âÂ

She stood there, nodding her head as she listened to him. She just needed to switch out the size she already had for another one but hot topic was feet size, luckily. She shrugged and scratched her head, âI actually need that sizeâ theyâre called the Big Foot special,â she said, pointing to it. Before he could even react, she waved her hand as if she was brushing it away and chuckled. âIâm kiddinâ, I need a smaller size for my cousin. I think a seven would be better,â she explained. âWhat size is that even? How big do these get?â
"Maybe that should be a real thing.â He laughed, âThe bigger your shoe size, the less your fees are for the night.â He knew that no one else would ever go for that idea but he liked it. âThis is a size sixteen,â He pointed to the big shoes, âProbably the biggest size we have.â He then looked to the size seven rentals, âI have seven or seven and a half. Whichever you think would be best, if not, you can always exchange them.âÂ

Caine was coming here for a gift card, something he could give to the Thane kids for their escapades at Skateland. He doesnât really see himself on rollerblades and he definitely isnât the one taking them here. But with Reina⊠preoccupied, he knows that Rowan and Andy were taking in the kids a bit more. Caine took them too, just Reina wasnât as pleased about that part. A new house would also just make it easier for him to have enough space for them. That would be coming soon though. âUh, yeah, I mean they have to accommodate everyone, right?â he replies. Caine has a pretty average male shoe size so if he decided to skate (which he surely doesnât want to), he wouldnât be one of the people Lucian was talking about. âIâm hoping to get like a gift card or something? Do you guys have those?â
âYeah, we do. Itâs just crazy cause when you think about it, we were all what? The size of a hand at some point?â For some reason he felt comfortable around Caine to continue speaking about it. Caine had always seemed nice to him, at least nicer than other people around here. When he mentioned the gift card, Lou nodded. At the urging of Lucian himself (which was definitely not something he did often), they had transferred from paper gift cards to actual gift cards. It made things easier on the register when he was redeeming for the customers. âOh, yeah, we can do that. Whatâs the amount you want on it?âÂ

âWell you know what they say about guys with big feet.â Remi smiled mischievously as she bit down on the straw in her cola cup. She had agreed to meet Lou at Skateland after he finished his shift so they could go grab dinner together at the diner. âItâs a good job youâre not a doctor otherwise you would lose your mind.â she decided with a quiet chuckle as she gently spun from side to side on the bar stool. âYeah Iâm waiting for you to hurry up and finish work.â her watch said he still had 15 minutes to go, causing her to sigh heavily.
âI do but I definitely donât wanna talk about that with you.â Remi was more like his sister, and he definitely wouldnât want to talk to Kali about that so neither did he want to with Remi. âI really would. I mean, am I not already losing my mind?â He joked, though some days he really felt like he was. âOh right, where are we going after again? My brainâs all scrambled.â Whatever it was, heâd be down to do it as long as he got to hang with her.Â

Bowieâs brows rise at his question. Are you a psychic? They look up at him from their place on the floor, not sure exactly how to answer. The simple reply is yes. They are a psychic. Probably not in the way heâs asking, but theyâre not about to bore him to death with the details of the different types and abilities. âI guess you can call me that, yeah,â Bowie settles into a smile as they pull themselves up to their feet with an arm full of dried flowers. âI take most form of payment,â They say, moving towards the front counter and tilting their head for him to follow them into a different direction in the store. They speak as they lay out their failed attempt at arts and crafts. âHow much it costs you though, baby, depends on what youâre lookinâ for. I can do tarot readings, palm readings, aura readings, object readings, chart readings, etc. Whatâre you tryinâ to find out?â Bowie asks after rattling off some of their abilities. Turning their attention back to him, they lean their elbows back on the counter and grin easily at him. This man, thereâs something so disarming about him - whoever he is. Quiet. Shy, maybe. Handsome. They canât help but feel a sudden interest in the matter that brings him into their shop.
He gave them a nod, as they mentioned they took most forms of payment. âI have cash if that works,â He always felt like he was spending less when he was using cash, it didnât show up on any statements. âI donât think my palmâs really readable. Youâre probably better off doing a tarot reading. I wanna know about my future or like what I can expect in the future. Or even if I had a cool past life.â He hadnât done a whole lot of research on the matter so he could just be spewing bullshit to them. Theyâd definitely know more about it than he would. âCan you help me with that? Iâm open, I know thatâs important. So what do you think? Am I a candidate for a reading?â

ROWAN.

Skateland has always easily been in Rowanâs top five favourite places in town, so of course she and her family had ended up there to celebrate her birthday. It isnât a shock to find Lucian working there, and by now Rowan has started to get used to his rambling conversations he seems to have with himself and the air around him. While she still isnât his biggest fan, his presence doesnât immediately annoy her anymore. She finds it almost amusing, if nothing else. Her eyes move between the shoes in Lucianâs hands and his face for a moment, brows furrowing and she lets out a skeptical hum. âYouâre trying to tell me those giant clown shoes donât fit you?â She asks with a tilt of her head. âYouâre like seven feet tall.âÂ
He tried to not make it obvious when he took in a deep breath in, attempting to remain calm around Rowan. It wasnât that he was scared of Rowan, but he just figured she didnât like him. And he was fine with that, he just didnât want to give her any more reasons to dislike him. âI donât think so,â He said looking back at the shoes than at her, âIâm a size 13, not too far up there.â He had small feet for his size or average at best. âBut 16? Thatâs way bigger than me. How do they not trip every time they walk?â He would do it more than he did now. A part of him wanted to ask her what her foot size was, just for measure but he was scared sheâd find it as an insult like people did when they were asked their age. âDoes Andy not have that big of feet?â

Kali pressed her lips into a thin line and held them there while he spoke. She didnât know if he would be fine, she couldnât even guarantee that for herself. âI was planning on buying into some businesses in town, maybe starting my own. You could help me with that. I mean, youâre the one with the degree.â He still could help her, technically, whether he was in the club or not. The whole thing just made her mad. He was the one who was supposed to get away from that life. She understood the feeling of being needed or wanted, to be essential enough to be considered important. It was something she had understood since she was old enough to walk, but rarely admitted to anyone but herself. âI donât want you to go anywhere, but I hate that youâre doinâ this.â His words crept under her skin and she sighed. âApparently I didnât teach you enough. I ainât goinâ to lecture you though, just think about it, okay?â She would hold on to some hope heâd still change his mind.
"You should do that.â He agreed, âAssociateâs degree,â He didnât mean to minimize his own accomplishments, but he knew that Kali could do anything on her own. She always had. She could put her mind to anything. âYou donât need me to make some businesses really prosper around him.â It wasnât an insult to himself, he could help her but he wanted her to know that she could also do this on her own. âYouâre doinâ this too. Weâre partners, arenât we?â Even though she also had Javi, theyâd always be on a different level than her and her boyfriend. âIâm not gonna just leave you.âÂ

A long shift at Skateland always made him antsy and ready to go home towards the end of his shift. The last hour always seemed the longest. âItâs crazy to think that someoneâs foot size could be this big,â He had big feet, sure, but thatâs because of how tall he was. He wore a size 13 which made sense for his size, but he couldnât believe that they had skates for the size of 16 inches for a foot. âIâm not judginâ or anything, I think itâs cool. Jusâ weird how we grow up and become taller.â If there was anything heâs learned over the course of the past few months, life is weird. âAnyways, can I help you with something?âÂ

Itâs not exactly the safest, but what else are they supposed to do? Bowie balances on a less than promising wooden stool, one thatâs definitely seen better days, but itâs the only thing in the shop thatâs the right height for the job theyâre trying to accomplish. Unintentionally holding their breath with one last dried flower clenched between their lips, they laser in their focus on the row of additional dried flowers hanging from a ribbon on the ceiling. Brows furrowing, they let out a frustrated little sigh since the flowers arenât falling how they want. Arms stretched above their head, their fingers fidget with the rigid stems and the ribbon itâs hanging from. But that focus is shattered when the front door chimes, announcing the arrival of a customer. Bowie is so in the zone, the noise startles them, causing them to jump slightly. The poor stool underneath them shifts at the sudden moment, their eyes widening and their heart jumping in their chest as they drop their hands down in some sort of balancing act. Somehow, it works, and itâs the row of dried flowers hitting the ground instead of Bowie.
âShit,â They sigh, carefully getting down from the stool and onto solid ground. âSorry, baby. You scared me,â They add with an easy laugh as they finally get a good look at the man, the sound of it propelled by their racing heart. âCan I help you with anything?â Bowie asks, getting down on the ground to collect their dried flowers.
Before he knew it, Lucian was heading towards Hex. It wasnât a place he had really ever been to. All the supernatural and spiritual stuff, it wasnât for him. Or so he thought. Maybe this would be a good thing, easing his anxiety. He knew that some of the people who cared about him were worried about his next endeavor.Â
"I did? Sorry, I guess I can be a little quiet sometimes.â Invisible was more like it. For a man with such a tall frame, he did have a tendency to be pretty quiet. âAre you a psychic?â He asked, hoping they were. He didnât know if everyone that worked there was or not. Hell, he barely knew anything about this stuff but he wanted to know what the future held for him. A tarot card reading, thatâs what he wanted. âI can pay cash or whatever yâall do for it.âÂ
