This was a performance I did at the IST talent show. You can just skip to the middle for the adorable kid that started emulating me. This is the true impact I’m making in China. It’s crazy adorable. One of my favorite moments thus far. And the shade he threw at me at the end is the true mark of a queen in the making.

This is Huangguan escalator, a massive escalator in Chongqing. It is the third largest in Asia at 112 meters (376ft) long. It was built in 1993. It’s so long you have to pay to go on it.

Another visit to Ciqikou ancient town. Discovered a wonderful monastery and found some extremely cute baozi. These usually have sweet fillings.

For our Christmas Dinner, Stephen demanded that my friend Maik bring him some dog meat from Guiyang, an area where it is readily available. If you look at the first picture, clearly it failed. Because we tried to cook it in a convection oven.... So maik tried to make soup out of. it....then procedded to set off the fire alarm. Happy Holidays!

From my family to yours. These are my second major students and I absolutely LOVE them! They all brought reindeer ears and gave me some delicious treats!

Things got pretty festive for Christmas lessons. My students went IN on snowflakes. It was crazy!

Here are some examples of Chinglish. Chinglish isn’t like Spanglish where we combine English words or phrases with Spanish ones, it’s errors in translation. These were some hilarious examples in a local park.

Found this stunning square near my music store that restrings my Erhu, so I stopped to practice and it was grand.

To be honest, I don’t fully remember what this was.. but it was like sticky rice blown into a big, hallow, edible balloon. There were sesame seeds ingrained in it.

At a student drama competition where some students did a 15 min version of the entire plot, with songs, of High School Musical...It was...interesting

So this is a hobby that I picked up while in China. It’s an instrument that’s called an Erhu. It’s essentially a two-stringed violin that, as you might imagine is very difficult to play. But it has that classic Chinese sound. In the middle is my friend and student, Melissa, who bought it for me in her hometown.

The Ayi’s (old auntie’s) at the restaurant by my house keep me alive. I literally go here twice a day and usually I eat noodles or this pork and potato fried rice. It was looking particularly gorgeous this day.
