“They don’t talk about it. When it’s mentioned they look shifty and hurry to change the subject or retreat behind a stubborn barricade of denial. They keep their ex-president (whose name must never be spoken publicly) hidden away in fortress Texas, far from the campaign trail. But it won’t go away. However much they pretend it’s not there, these desperate and depressing Republican hopefuls scrabbling for the brass ring of the 2016 presidency, the lingering stench of Iraq still hangs around them like a ripe dog turd that’s been trodden into the carpet. They try their best to ignore it but we mustn’t let them.“ .. (read more here)

When Ben & Jerry’s was founded they followed a 5 to 1 salary ratio where the highest paid employee could make only 5x the lowest’s salary.

In light of Donald Trump’s controversial comments about Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly and the Republican Party’s divisive views on Planned Parenthood, many are wondering how the party will win the female vote in next year’s presidential election.
Pretty much what I said before, but a little more blunt and a little less politically correct- Not that political correctness is anything Donald Trump or any other Republican candidate is worried about.Â
Republicans, Women, and Other "Minorities"
I was raised by and ultra conservative grandfather and a independent feminist grandmother. My political beliefs have always been divided.
In many, many ways I side with republicans. I believe in a small federal government. I think the government budget is too big. I think that we need to proceed cautiously when we make deals with unstable countries. That being said, I struggle when election time rolls around. How can I vote with a party who consistently says offensive things about women? Or who cares so much about the right to bear arms, but not the freedom of religion and separation of church and state?
I believe that this is how many women feel. Hillary Clinton is counting on the Republican Party to keep saying inappropriate, offensive and frustrating things about 50% of the population. The fact is that the Republican Party will not will another presidential election if they continue to not support the issues of women and minority groups.
Look at who comes out for presidential elections! It’s young people and minorities. People who care about social issues. They want a president who can support and relate to them. It is in the republicans favor that many of these people only show up every 4 years. It is what has allowed them to have a majority in the house and senate. However, if a republican is going to take the Oval Office in 2016 (or ever again), they’re going to have to be sympathetic to social issues.
New to this blogging/tumbler bit, but I always feel like I have a lot to say and a lot of good ideas that no one listens to or cares about because, well, I am me. To my friends and family, or even the people who work for me this might be a big deal. However, in the grand scheme of life in this large world, my opinion matters very little. I thought if I shared my thoughts and writings with the wide world of the internet, maybe something would catch on. Maybe someone would agree with me. Maybe it would make a difference. Maybe I would just feel better having a place to rant.
