Thinking about how Flambae is to Robert what Johnny is to V: an unstable, nagging presence that they can’t get rid of while simultaneously being the reason they’re alive and why they keep pushing forward. That they’re both equally annoying and fucked up but despite initial hatred they grow to like their counterpart, so much so that they fall in love. Every time. In every story.

Robert would be SO fucked in Cyberpunk 2077 based solely on the default options, but it would all end the same I think.

Silverv transcends universes.

Back into my cyberpunk 2077 funk so here’s a Silverv thought:

Johnny’s first trip with the body shows how careless he still is. He’s reckless, that’ll never change, and he gets carried away. But the MOMENT he sees that he’s hurt V, and made her regret trusting him, he doesn’t take it for granted. The dog tags, the promise, and following through on that promise— it’s all his deep regrets swallowing him about Rogue & Alt making him not want to mess it up with V.

He could’ve fixed himself easily in the past. The idea of it being “Why couldn’t he change for me?” From Rogue (and Alt, even if she is stuck on the other side of the black wall). But he doesn’t feel motivated to, not until he has V. Not until V properly holds him accountable. Not until he has something— some ONE— to live for.

The scene with his dog tags where he promises to V that he’ll die if that’s what she wants in the end made me cry. He cares about her SO much that he’s willing to change for her. That’s a love that surpasses all understanding.

Thinking heavily about the first time Robert sees Flambae with his hair down. Wondering why he doesn’t keep it like that more often (safety reasons) and fighting the urge to mess with it.

Flambae noticing Robert’s staring, and staring hard, until he comes over and asks Robert straight up what he’s looking at. When Robert mentions his hair, Flambae is kind of dismissive about it, until he lets Robert touch and oh god is it SOFT

Given he has to have it up and doused in flame retardant gel every day, he HAS to take care of it. So with all the products he uses, his hair is very well maintained.

Robert melts as soon as he feels it. They end up sitting beside each other later and Robert is mindlessly playing with his hair. Then it just becomes habit for him to mess with it whenever Flambae has it down, and Flambae always lets him.

Thinking HEAVILY about domestic flambert/mechabae

Robert, who has insomnia on top of chronic pain and is always freezing cold, falling asleep on flambae ALL. THE. TIME. Not only because flambae is a personal space heater, but also because he feels safe. He feels comforted. When he’s laying on flambae all his joints ease up and he can actually relax for once

Flambae being an amazing cook, he has to be to maintain his physique, and forcing Robert to let him cook for him. Robert goes from eating twinks at work to homemade meals in glass Pyrex containers and Visi has the balls to ask where he “got the motivation to cook for once”

Flambae also being into PDA while Robert isn’t as much. So flambae always initiates in public, whether it be holding his hand or leaning on him, touching him in some way. Drunk flambae grabbing Robert’s face and kissing him silly!!

They are so precious to me your honor!!!

I talk a lot about Robert, but I want to touch on Flambae a little bit too while we're here.

Flambae is such an interesting character to me based on how much focus they placed on him during the season. He has just about the same screentime as the two main love interests (depending on which route you pick), with heavy emphasis on his relationship with Robert. A good chunk of his scenes are sometimes just Robert saying shit and the camera panning to Flambae.

I think about choosing to tell the truth. Flambae's choice to return after feeling betrayed was so, so impactful to me. He's only in the phoenix program because Robert busted him (negative), but he's also in the phoenix program because of Robert (positive). In both aspects, he has a chance to reform and have a chance to provide for his sister again. He has a shot to be good, to do good, which is important to him. Flambae's ability is that when he succeeds a call, two of his stats max out (combat and mobility iirc). That boy is SO excited to do good that he'll jump at the chance to work. Sending him and Prism meant I could max out a call 99% of the time. It's also important to note he stops setting his own fires after Robert takes over because Robert (depending on how you play) actually knows what he's doing!!

I think Flambae, in the days he was out sick after the bar, must've had a realization that yeah, he's mad at Robert. But he would never have had this kind of a second chance to do good without him, and that much is worth more than quitting and ending up in jail again instead.

Drunk Robert doing karaoke with Flambae but it’s him realizing he’s definitely bisexual and singing songs clearly directed to Flambae but then he doesn’t remember it in the morning so everyone’s making fun of him but he doesn’t remember so it means nothing to him, but it means everything to Flambae.

I’ve got another thought but it’s flambert this time

Them opening up to one another for real. Like I’m sure their conversation starts out with Chad annoying Robert and insulting him, until Robert says something that makes him pause and go “Dude. Are you okay??” Kind of like when Robert thanks Chad for helping him with the weights and Chad goes “Fuck you! Wait— was that genuine?”

I think Chad cares a lot about Robert, he just masks sincerity with aggression because he doesn’t know how else to show that he cares. If you choose to romance Blazer, after the weights scene she tells Robert that Flambae “said you almost died”. Why would he bother saying anything if he didn’t care??

Robert opens up about grief he hasn’t moved on from, and probably how the Z-Team succeeding directly affected his worldview as MM. How getting his job at SDN with them saved his life. Then Chad opens up about his family, his niece who he’d do anything for and what happened after their fight.

Then they like makeout and stuff cause Chad would go “well this is fucking depressing can we make out or something”.

AND ANOTHER THING

There’s a quote from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, where Sam asks Steve if his bed is too soft. In Punisher, there’s a character who’s returned from war who can’t sleep unless it’s in a trench he’s dug in his backyard. I’ve seen some ex-military people say it’s a common trope, but I wanna carry this over to Robert.

He used to have a bed as a kid, of course, but how many nights did he spend after Robby’s death in the suit? Not even sleeping, he was out fighting and working to avoid sleep. In the first episode we ASSUME the mattress in the dumpster is Robert’s old one, but even then, how much did he actually use it? We see him later in a plastic chair in his apartment, not even on the floor, which is an arguably worse situation for his body.

All I can think about is how when Mandy and Chase drop the futon off how weird it must feel for him. By regular bed standards it’s not nearly the most comfortable thing, but he’s got to feel awkward sleeping on it for the first time. Not only is the comfort of a “real” bed unusual, but it’s also a reminder of how far he’s come. It’s another item he owns to remind him he has something to live for. It’s also a reminder to keep pushing forward, not letting Mecha Man die as a poor excuse of a family legacy, but to keep kicking for as long as he can.

I think it’s interesting. One of the common signs of depression/suicide in a person is when they start getting rid of their belongings, so for Robert to instead GAIN things during some of his worst life moments is a very important thing to me.

Can’t sleep so I’ll make everyone suffer:

I’m thinking of the gaps in Robert’s life. The months he probably had between repairs of the suit, when he finally first moved into his apartment, etc, him just sitting in silence, utterly alone. I think about the grief washing over him like a wave, pulling him out to sea. I wonder how many times he gave in to tears wishing he could go back and maybe be a different son to Robby, be a different “brother” to Chase. Maybe if he was different his dad would still be alive, or he’d still be talking to Chase.

I think if they didn’t surprise him with the housewarming party, Robert probably would’ve ended up crying alone that night in e6. He’s so used to it by now, but that doesn’t make it less upsetting. Even with Beef, he’d have those moments of realization like “I don’t have any friends.”

I find relation to Robert and also think about him silently wishing he could go home after he (presumably) sold the house. Wishing he could walk the halls again, run in the backyard, play catch with his dad.

Also makes me think about how with the Z-Team he doesn’t feel like he’s enough. You can choose to have him ask Courtney “Why did you do this?” In e6… he doesn’t get it. Why is he worthy of love or friendship? 100% because he feels responsibility for every bad thing ever. Not dying in the suit that night solidified it for him, too, I think.

Robert says it’s seasonal, but idk man it doesn’t look seasonal to me
