I love them
I love watching people who haven't read sotr react to the trailer bc when Haymitch goes "they're 100% as stupid as usual" it usually earns a little laugh, a knowing look, a comment along the lines of "there he is, that's Haymitch". Exactly the same reaction Katniss and Peeta had when watching that same interview in Catching Fire:
Haymitch gives them a half smile. Snarky. Arrogant. Indifferent. “He didn't have to reach far for that, did he?” I say.
Catching Fire, Chapter 14
And the thing is, we now know that wasn't him at all. We know 16-year-old Haymitch was sweet, and humble, and caring to a fault. We know this is the moment he invented this whole persona, and that the Capitol gave him no choice but to stick to that role for good. That they erased the traces of everything else he ever was. That following their script was the only way he could make sure that no one would ever become close to him, that they wouldn't hurt anyone else as a punishment to him.
But the people watching this trailer react as Katniss and Peeta did, and I think it's a wonderful new way to interact with this scene of them watching Haymitch's games since it didn't make it into the movie. A way to remind us that we all fell for the Capitol propaganda once. We knew from the og trilogy what happened to Finnick and Johanna, we knew that the Capitol went after Haymitch's loved ones and made an example of him, we knew the Capitol lies, we knew he was terribly protective, incredibly brave.
And still we fell for it. And still the people with no knowledge of sotr keep falling for it.
I think I finally know who Haymitch is.
They told us "now you know who Haymitch is". And Katniss and Peeta believed it. And we believed it.
They didn't. Not for years.
And we didn't. Not for years.

The World of Alchemised
I want a special edition of Alchemised that just has a million annotations and appendices that details all the things about the Alchemised world and the society SOOOOOO badly hahaha.
So instead I imagined these little novellas and such that Sen could put out along the lines of those -ology books haha, each talking about a different aspect of Alchemised. (All images were taken from Sen's Pinterest board for Alchemised)
GIVE US A SUPER SPECIAL EDITION DEL REY!!!! GIMME!!!!! I'm throwing my money at you!!!
"Heroism is something for others to perform for the masses. Intelligence work-our work-is breaking people open by whatever means necessary to reach their secrets. That is what you are a part of now."
"She dressed in civilian clothes that were as nondescript as possible. With her hood pulled up, hiding how dark her hair was, she was hardly memorable. Just a person trying to stay out of the war's path." - @senlinyuwrites
“You’re like a rose in a graveyard. I wonder what you could have turned into without the war.” 🥀
"If he's a monster, then I'm his creator." - @senlinyuwrites.
Kaine Ferron, I promise to try not to be wholly obsessed with you but I am already completely enthralled. Can you hear all of our hearts pounding in unison as we enter September?
Listen, sometimes a ship is less about wanting them to kiss or have sex or whatever, and more about needing them to be so endlessly intertwined and connected to the point where they might as well be one creature.
Love and Other Misfortunes
by @senlinyu but in memes
This is one of my favourite Dramione fics. I am a bit of sucker for Veela Draco and I just adore the angst that comes with it. So, this is a crack tribute to @senlinyu ‘s wonderful fic.
At the beginning of the fic:
And at the same time:
Hermione knows something is up and Draco obliviates her rather than let her know she can save him.
Everyone and I mean everyone tries to give her a hint:
Runcorn tries to tear Hermione down and he has a plan:
And the epilogue:
Omg. I love these!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“i. SHE WANTED TO BE A CLOUDBURST, INCARNATE. For her heart had been molded into thunder, and the liquid in her veins had been soaked up & spat out: until it was not earthly anymore. (Olympians all knew that Zeus does not forgive.) ii. SHE WANTED TO BE A TURMOIL, INCARNATE. for no one bid her be a canvas, so she became one herself. She painted a castle with pomegranate juice and called herself a queen. (Zeus takes the picture, and he frames it.) iii. SHE WANTED TO BE SANCTITY, INCARNATE. for her mother’s meadows were her sole place to hide whenever she heard thunder in the distance. Moons ago, the girl smothered with tall grass did not know how she would come to withstand and defy them. iv. (Zeus raises his glass, and says: this is how you breed a goddess.)”

For some reason I do not understand this made me tear up.
g o r g e o u s
I just love the myth of Persephone, i mean the real, original version of it, because it’s not like she got kidnapped, no, this bitch was la-de-da-ing in a meadow and she just happened to find an entrance to the Underworld and she was like “Imma check this out”. And she just wanders into the Underworld and discovers that hey this place ain’t too bad.
Meanwhile Hades is in the background “????? UM??? PRETTY GIRL??? WHY ARE YOU HERE?????? YOU AREN’T DEAD???”
And Persephone (who was originally called Kore just a little fyi) just looked at him and said “I like it here. I’m staying.”
And Hades kinda just went with it, until Demeter started throwing the temper tantrum of the millenium upstairs and Zeus had to intervene because this shit was getting out of hand and its actually his job to be admistrator of justice. Which considering the shit he gets up to is kinda histerical but that’s another story there.
And basically Persephone wasn’t a prisoner or kidnap victim at all she just really loved the Underworld and her (eventual) husband, and the Greeks feared her arguably more than her husband because Hades could be reasoned with but Persephone was the one laying the smack down on sinners, and really, who wouldn’t be at least a little scared of someone who’s name means something along the lines of “the destroyer”
Basically, Persephone is amazing and everbody needs to get on her level
i think the best part of that myth is that Zeus decided to change Kore’s name to Persephone (basically “the one who brings chaos”) only because she wanted to stay in the underworld and SHE WOULDN’T FUCKING LISTEN then Zeus, all-mighty king of the gods, kinda gives up and goes “fine, but you’re going to visit your mom” “also, I changed your name” “get rekt”
Also, if I’m not mistaken, Kore means “little girl” so imagine going from that to “chaos bringer”
Just making sure everyone who likes/reblogs this post knows about Hadestown by Anais Nin. Specifically “Our Lady of the Underground.” It’s Persephone with bluesy riffs.
A short story I wrote this summer.
edits alphabet ◦ ━━ Aphrodite
ancient Greek goddess of sexual love and beauty, identified with Venus by the Romans. Aphrodite was, in fact, widely worshipped as a goddess of the sea and of seafaring; she was also honoured as a goddess of war, especially at Sparta, Thebes, Cyprus, and other places. However, she was known primarily as a goddess of love and fertility and even occasionally presided over marriage.
goddesses: persephone
in greek mythology persephone is the daughter of zeus and demeter. homer describes her as the formidable, venerable majestic princess of the underworld, who carries into effect the curses of men upon the souls of the dead. she becomes the queen of the underworld through her abduction by and subsequent marriage to hades, the god of the underworld. the myth of her abduction represents her function as the personification of vegetation, which shoots forth in spring and withdraws into the earth after harvest; hence, she is also associated with spring as well as the fertility of vegetation.
persephone as a vegetation goddess and her mother demeter were the central figures of the eleusinian mysteries, which promised the initiated a more enjoyable prospect after death. the origins of her cult are uncertain, but it was based on very old agrarian cults of agricultural communities.
“You haven’t heard? She got married and moved away. Just like that. She met him one day picking up flowers for a friend in the hospital. He pulled up in a huge black Cadillac and offered to drive. She never made it to that hospital. She says, now, it was dinner that seduced her, she always was a sucker for a good fruit plate. Her husband? He treats her okay, she says– the last time I saw her, she was dripping in jewelry and couture. The rain gets to her, sometimes, and she’s alone a lot. She complains about the long winters, but says the spring makes it all worth while–imagine bleeding hearts, wild poppies, fuchsias, pink and white camellias. Of course, he bought her acres of gardens, but even he can’t buy her more sunlight. She says she misses her mother most of all (That’s Demeter, remember, who lives down the street, looks great for her age?) When she visits here each summer, you’ll notice she leaves him at home, mentions something about his job, busy season. She doesn’t invite us to visit. I think the move’s been hard on her. She’s ghost white underneath all that lipstick, and rocks, unsteady, as she tends her mother’s garden.”
