What is going on with cutting posts?
You may have seen some posts floating around lately about the beta editor and trimming reblogs, and possibly found yourself extremely confused trying to figure out what this tangled web of editors, extensions, and add-ons even means. I’ve been on this site for years, and I still find the whole thing terribly confusing.
So this post is my effort to explain everything – legacy vs beta, New XKit vs XKit Rewritten, editable reblogs vs trim reblogs – everything. This also doubles as a tutorial for the various methods of cutting posts.
TL;DR
Tumblr is in the process of switching to a new post editor that some old users have opted into, while new users have been forced into it.
The old Editable Reblogs extension does not work with this new editor, requiring people to use a new extension called Trim Reblogs.
Trim Reblogs and Editable Reblogs are not compatible. If your partner uses Editable Reblogs, you cannot cut their posts properly using Trim Reblogs (unless you’re willing to do some tedious and frankly unreasonable workarounds).
The only way for everyone in the RPC to cut their posts properly and efficiently is if everyone moves to the new system and uses Trim Reblogs. Clinging to the old system with Editable Reblogs is actively creating issues for the people using the new system – some of whom do not have a choice.

EXPERIENCE/HOW LONG (MONTHS / YEARS?): A little over a decade... let's not talk about it
PLATFORMS YOU’VE USED: Tumble is my main platform, however, I have used Discord, Skype, Messenger, and texts lmao.
BEST EXPERIENCE: Honestly? Nothing beats the feeling of meeting someone who gives the same energy as you and just the constant character brainrot and endless ideas and headcanons.
RP PET PEEVES/DEALBREAKERS: The biggest issue I've had (mostly as of late) is trying to tell me how to portray my muse to fit their idea of how she should be, respond, or act. It's just a no go for me. If she's not your cup of tea then gladly move on to the next.
FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: I personally go for Angst the most because of my hc take on Mona, but overall I adore Fluff. Smut is my weakness, not that great at it. I only ever write it with close friends if that. Everything up to Smut is fine with me though, but I lean toward the other categories.
PLOTS OR MEMES: Both are welcome! Plots can be hard to come up with, so I do like memes better to get things started. I do tend to confirm with the mun first if they prefer memes to be a first meeting or just casual, but as of late, I just go as if they've met once before. anyway, I love memes bc the endless crazy opportunities.
LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: I prefer short for the most part, but I most definitely do love to write long replies. Although, I tend to keep those reserved for the muses with the most chemistry or the muns that I get along with better (due to anxiety reasons. also, I just really love writing w friends. so let's be friends ok). Either way, both are loved and welcomed!
BEST TIME TO WRITE: I have more time alone during the day, to late evening so lately, that's when creativity hits.
ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): We're similar in a lot of ways, tbh. Kinda, sorta why I chose her to be the muse I came back as! stolen from dash! specifically xue & jace but shh tagging: all who see this !
