A Key You Can Photograph Is A Key That Can Be Copied

If you take a picture of a car or house key, could you use that picture to get a copy made? Yes—quite trivially, actually. I have a folder on my laptop that is filled with photos people have taken of their keys and put onto the internet. Every few weeks, I take some idle time and associate one of those keys to an address (lot of Googling, mostly) and then I decode the cuts in the key.

Then, I do nothing else—because I’m a pretty nice dude who is just fascinated by this sort of thing. That said, however, the specific measurements for any common brand of lock can be found online, and, with a little experience, you can hand-file keys in only a few minutes. Just search for “Depth & Space” charts. Those will tell you how far apart to space your cuts and the possible depths you might find cut into that type of key. Note that, while the space and depth will stay consistent across a given brand, it’s up to you to figure out the specific depths for your key. 

Seriously guys, stop posting photos of your brand new house key in clear fidelity on multiple social media platforms. People with malicious intentions can easily walk into your no longer secured homes.

This is not a new thing. There was a furor with TSA luggage keys a few years back (last I checked, lockpick and lock enthusiasts have managed to decode and recreate most of the keys except for a couple).

As a part of his treatment he got the vaccine.  His parents were advised that he needed a follow up dose of the vaccine shortly after leaving the hospital, in order to continue his recovery.  His parents refused.  The hospital also wanted to work with them to get the kid up to date on other vaccines, but the parents refused.  

The $811,000 bill does not include airlifting the boy from his local hospital to one that was equipped to handle his case, nor the cost of in-hospital physical therapy to help him regain the ability to walk.  The whole thing could have been avoided by 5 doses of DTaP at about $25 per dose.

This has to be Depression era WW2. She’s wearing bikinis made from flour sacks, which people made clothes from because they were shit poor and companies decided to put floral prints and colors on their bags to make those improvised clothes.

You also have to appreciate that she’s a hard worker, growing her own food, fixing her own plumbing and still retaining her femininity. That’s definitely a sign of the times.

Hilda is gorgeous and I love her but from what I’ve been reading she was actually created in the 1950’s (tho she does seem to be set in the WWII era) and ran in pin-up calendars up till the 1980’s. She also wasnt particularly popular. She did have fans, but the artist admitted that he had trouble with continuity, as she wasnt modled after anyone in particular so she tended to look different from drawing to drawing, and that stopped her from being widely known.

However I am really glad that she is enjoying a surge in popularity now, as it’s really refreshing to see a pinup girl who is more natural and less posed, and also has personality as well as a more normal body type. Plus she’s adorable and I am def in love with her.
