Family?

So what is a family anyway. What’s the purpose if you just come together for a meal, and take some pictures? When no one actually cares about the well-being of one another? What is a family without a leader?

Yup. Your own. That’s good. I am happy for you.

I live in the seemingly very collectivistic Asia, a traditional Chinese family, but brought up to live an independent life.

NO ONE KNOWS. WHAT IS HAPPENING IN ANOTHER PERSON’S LIFE. If yes, it’s only a glimpse, from the photos uploaded on Facebook and Instagram.

I am utterly confused. Is this part of growing up? Perhaps it’s cultural that once we hit a certain age, people stop wanting to know what have you been up to, then you lead almost mutually exclusive lives. Almost? It is an obligation to meet up during festive seasons, to have “family gatherings” when we all know that the only motivation is ang pau and food. People want to know what you’ve been up to, to get some spice, or just to know that you’re not in any trouble.

People say, we are drawn to things that we do not have. No wonder I am so drawn towards Christ. Because Christ is LOVE.
