it may have been almost a decade since classpecting was a major special interest of mine, but when a friend asked me to classpect the deltarune trio, i couldn't resist
(plus noelle bc i felt like drawing her - she's a mage of mind in this one but i don't actually have a fixed headcanon for her like i do the other three. another friend thinks she's a life player and i also wouldn't say they're wrong, i think ch5 will be the one to narrow it down)
(and yes im aware how painfully ironic putting kris as heir of breath seems on first glance, but no shhh trust me, i have legitimate reasoning for it. it's a really fun one i promise)
quick dess trying to pin down what she looks like in my head
(major inspiration here was the clubs card suit, for two reasons - the first being her horns and hair in the flashback do seem clubs shaped to me, and also i like associating her with it because it's the suit that largely went missing in ch1. an empty space where its bakesale stand should have been, no sign of any of its cards other than the jack and the king, the fact that ralsei thematically should represent the clubs suit to complete the pattern in ch1 but he doesn't, there's just no one. is very fun to give dess to me)
(second is that we have evidence she disappeared around 8 years ago, so either asriel took quite a lot of time off before going to college or she was a lot younger than we think, and i wanted to show that)
(and third if her mom can have unnaturally coloured horns then so can dess. as a treat)
happy one year anniversary to the hades 2 early access (give or take a week), and also happy anniversary to me starting this piece!
i've been a supergiant fan since transistor, which doesn't feel like that long but in retrospect was forever ago, and it's been so great watching the fandom get so much bigger since the success of hades. all their games are so beautifully made i always get inspired to do fanart near immediately, and within hours of hades 2's release (my first time in arachne's room), i was already planning out designs for these
it's been a tough year health wise, so it was a very slow labour of love (and you can see my art skills developing in real time through this piece), but i'm so so proud of the final result
so these are how i envision each of the dresses you can get from arachne! originally not all of these poses included weapons, but once we got the skull and the coat it felt too perfect not to include those, so i shuffled things round a bit
i'm gonna make posts for each of these outfits individually explaining my design choices and what went into these, and will be rolling those out over the next few days (check back to the og of this post for the most updated links), but for now enjoy the full finished painting!
and it's that time of year again, my birthday gift for @knight-of-the-thorn! their commander arceidai (they/them), and arc's girlfriend and knight of the thorn, theitia (she/her)
really wanted to play with the character parallels/contrasts here, because arc and tia have a lot of them, and the day/night motif worked really well for that, because knowing these two on first glance you'd assume it should be the other way around, but on deeper reflection there is a lot of truth to this way too, and i find it really interesting where and how those character elements come into play (and cycle wise arc is dusk tia is dawn, so that lent itself nicely to this as well)
this is also the most effort i've ever put into painting plants (dear god kudzu was a Time), but i've actually discovered a hidden love for painting sylvari cultural armor, it's really fun once you get the hang of it, so who needs a career im just gonna go be a hermit who paints tree outfits all day, this is the ideal existence
but in all seriousness it's been a privilege getting to know these two over the years, so much love and care has been put into their creation and development, and i wanted to honour that best i could!

so in that issue, we see inside death's apartment, and she has this photo on the wall?
which caught my attention immediately, and i knew i had to draw it. and then i went. very overboard.
in terms of design choices i made on this one, the endless have always been anachronistic with their outfits, so i went with what i was vibing with and based on the panel (and their show selves, for the four on the right), rather than what would actually fit the time period required for del to still be delight
and then i also added unique effects to all but death (who is the most human of all of them), because i think it's cool if the endless don't quite show up as human - the second image is without the effects, just to showcase the art

destiny - given his nature with split paths, his image overlays itself just a little
death gets no effect in the same way she has normal speech bubbles (though if i were to add one, shadow of a wing i think would be cool)
dream, his usual shadows (plus, while face wise im going off the actors we know, messing with the colours to something that feels more like comic dream, something about the endless potential of dreams)
destruction is the master of entropy, and he gets to be just a little eroded! the image is rebelling on itself
desire i was drawing from the comic canon fact that desire always casts two shadows - one incredibly sharp, one incredibly fuzzy. and i thought 3d effect lineart would be a fun way to go with that
despair's colour is leeching out, and there's her usual fog around her (that cardigan is also something that's become a staple of my despair design, it's the tattoos of her first incarnation but as embroidery on her show version)
and finally delight, who i just wanted to make colourful - you can see the parts of her that will become delirium, but right now they're not intending to disorient anyone, just to bring joy
