borginia: small country in northern europe. cant be eu cause they have the death penalty (pronounced with a j, but the english spelling is shown on documents)

codopia: next to borginia. its pretty funny it split apart and got together all because of what its diplomats did in a foreign country

my placements imply the baltics dont exist but who knows

kurain: 'west' asia (contextually its actually south asia, sometimes asia doesnt extend beyond the indian subcontinent in japanese). i assume based on nepal and bhutan, especially bhutan cause its buddhist. could be near kashmir instead of where i put it

western phoenix republic/xifeng/seihou: only says a small country in east asia, and from the names they use chinese characters. local name pronunciation is never specified and its never actually confirmed its chinese, but cause of the 民国 i assumed its alternate taiwan and used the mandarin pronunciation of 西鳳. never says anything about being unrecognised though. no idea what its supposed to be west of. never actually says its an island so technically could be somewhere else

japan: as far as i can remember the only city that canonically exists in any country in the games is osaka (where natsumi is from) and edo (historical name of tokyo) and fictional kurain villiage (plus fictional kyubi villiage, but im not editing it again). from dialect etc its canonically set in tokyo but never explicitly mentioned

usa: different colour to the other real countries cause mei grew up there and literally like a million other characters studied there. the obsession with america makes it feel older, but japan is still more like that even now compared to the west having lost interest

france: trebian resturant

russia: naruhodo played piano in a russian resturant, and the kids mum in 6.5

uk: nondas shirt and misturugis tea stuff

germany: the ending sequence of gk1 said the actress yahari worked with went to germany to get away from him

china: origin story of the japanese and chinese word for contradiction from ancient china

india: in 3.5 harumi got mixed up with curry from india and an unrelated japanese expression

not included: takumi the director said he thought mitsurugi listened to ppongjjak, a korean music genre

assuming i didnt miss any. but it almost never mentions real places so i usually noticed

there arent actually any characters that are completely from any real countries that arent japan. the closest was mei who grew up in america, but had japanese parents and lived with them on school holidays so shes clearly also japanese. the only other one is the kid with the military helicopter thing in 6.5 who grew up in japan but her mum was russian

they also avoid saying anything about any real countries that arent japan, only made up countries have politics and legal system etc as plot points or portrayed at all

they were willing to touch on things in japan from real life like the lay judges being introduced, and make lots of stuff up, but its interesting that they wont do that for any other countries and instead totally make the country up. maybe dont want to offend anyone but maybe its just convinience so they can make it fit the plot better. the characters thing is probably just to be relevent to the plot as well

this is completely ignoring the prequels cause i havent played them

I've been chipping away at an Ace Attorney Investigations animation for the past few months, heavy spoilers warning but otherwise CLICK THE BLUE TEXT TO GIVE IT A WATCH!

Some parts of the process below (spoilers again)

I first got the idea to create this when I tried to look up ace attorney rolling girl, I was astonished no one had made one yet and decided it was time to take matters into my own hands. I listened to the song in the car and imagined over and over how badass a AAI version if it would be. Above is the notepad plans of who shows up when and with who.

Miles has a simple design, but since everyone else has a relatively complex design, I decided to make a character sheet where I chibi-fied them ahead of time so I didn't have to do it on the fly.

If I'm honest, Kay had the hardest design to simplify since I would be drawing her over and over again the most... my boldest decision was keeping the key in her hair in detail, definitely the biggest struggle was figuring out the physics of the dangling bits and angle of the key. Everyone else, even if they're more detailed, I drew fewer frames of.

While trying to create the chibis, having the gallery in Investigations was SO HELPFUL thank you to the AA staff for including that in the game.

If you're wondering how I got the frames I painstakingly slowed down the og rolling girl vid to 0.25 speed and took screenshots of every frame so I could trace over it… Not the most efficient method but I couldn't find a complete set of images for it online!! I used Rolling Deltarune as a guide for the animation since the og doesn't go up to 3 minutes.

I use clip studio paint to draw and a small wacom intuos as my tablet... I edited it all in Adobe Premiere, wouldn't recommend but it's what I was familar with eto bleh.

Anyways I hope Santa brings me a gold heart locket so I can rotate in characters I like who will give me strength throughout the day, I'll try to answer any other questions in the replies! ^_^

hear me out: it's 2005. eddie fender is barely keeping edgeworth and co afloat but he can't afford to hire anybody and he's also 23. meanwhile diego armando is in college looking for a summer internship but he isn't getting any bites. he eventually cold calls eddie as his last bottom of the barrel option and eddie's like "you know what we can talk, just letting you know right off the bat it'll be unpaid and unless there's an actual miracle i won't be able to hire you back after you graduate and if that doesn't work for you i get it but we can grab lunch and i can give you some advice even if this doesn't go anywhere." so they meet up at a sandwich shop and eddie immediately recognizes diego as the barista at the super nice coffee shop he goes to when he wants the good shit, and particularly as the barista who makes it right. so he wants this guy to work for him by any means necessary. he tells him "hey look. i can't pay you but i can chat with your school and see if i can get you some credit out of the deal. also i know you need to pay the bills so we can work around your job. just show up when you can and make me coffee and i'll give you stuff to do. also i can write a killer letter of rec." and diego doesn't exactly have any other options so he agrees. also he is 20 and eddie is 23. so they have a chill ass summer that's like 20% actually doing work 20% eddie letting having an intern get to his head and 60% sitting on the office couch with a 6 pack of shitty beer playing grand theft auto. and eddie does write him that killer letter of rec.
