Started thinking again about how the KH3 freecam reveals that Sora continues smiling up at Riku after their whole little ‘you can come to the rescue after you have the power of waking’ ‘okay fine, but no reckless stunts’ exchange and how his model doesn’t change until he overhears Donald, Goofy, and Jiminy exposing his gay ass. Like it almost looks like Sora and Riku are in their own little world until Sora’s friends giggle about his very obvious crush favoritism.

(Bro is NOT listening. Head full of Riku)

Since Riku and Sora are technically off-screen, I choose to believe Riku hears the others whispering audibly about Sora being reckless, and he looks like he wants to laugh, while Sora is in la la land because his stomach feels kind of fluttery after their exchange, and he loves when Riku laughs, even though Sora’s not sure what’s so funny, he hasn’t been listening—hey, wait a second. Are his friends making fun of him?

Then Sora turns, and he’s really glad Riku can’t see his face anymore because “If only he listened to Master Yen Sid the way he listens to Riku.” Oh my god. This is worse than Donald’s stupid “very good looking” comment earlier!

but like. i was rewatching both for a video. and i realized its even more obvious than i thought

quasi tackle hugs phoebus, which he awkwardly returns after a moment

before phoebus notices esmeralda looking on

and then quasi is the one who reaches out to esmeralda and brings her over to them

the rest is. well. you know.

The taisetsu part we've dug deep into but the 'always together' part is also a way Chain of Memories has described Riku (and not Kairi)

More unseen BTS

This is why I'll never get jaded waiting for more BTS to emerge for The Untamed, or fall under the disillusionment that it's pointless to expect more unseen footage to come out eventually. Considering how often they filmed and that it was 4 months in the making, there's logically hundreds (if not more) of hours of things on and off screen we haven't seen yet. (I have extensive theories about that as well, but maybe that should be saved for a fanfic someday.) Some people talk about moving on from TU or having no reason to look back because it was 7 years ago, but to me that feels like giving up or falling into our 15-second Tiktok clip culture. New shiny things are pretty to look at, but don't have much substance compared to what we can glean from the boys when they were able and allowed to interact with each other so freely. Why would I want to only watch the plastic, scripted, endorsement controlled current content when there are still pieces of the Real Deal coming out to watch and find joy in?

Honestly the part that convinced me the most that Way to Dawn didn’t break from that wimpy demon tide and that we are supposed to NOTICE how weird it is that it seemingly broke from that, is the fact that Riku doesn’t even raise it to defend himself with. Way to Dawn never even got hit, it had absolutely no reason to break. And the fact that we aren’t even shown it breaking is even more suspicious.

Just to add onto this, even though the symbolic meaning of Way to Dawn breaking makes perfect sense (Riku’s growth, he has reached dawn- “the break of dawn”), I don’t think that’s a sufficient explanation for why it broke at that moment.

For me there is no other satisfactory explanation than the idea that it broke as a result of Riku’s sacrifice in the previous timeline. There’s the additional symbolic meaning there: Riku himself- the embodiment of dawn-“broke”. He sacrificed himself completely. As keyblades are reflections and extensions of the wielder’s heart, it only makes sense that Way to Dawn broke with him.

Riku’s sacrifice is so much more important than we know yet. The narrative appears to ignore it completely despite showing it to us two whole times, but I absolutely believe its importance has yet to be revealed. I think kh3’s timeline literally hinges on it.

Summary: Madam Yu decides that the best way to reinstate the severed engagement between her daughter and her best friend’s son would be to publicly punish and humiliate Wei Wuxian in front of the other sects, particularly the Jin. Since he was the one who caused it to be broken, it was the least Wei Wuxian deserved, to remind him of his place. And if it also got back at her husband for allowing the engagement to be broken in the first place, she viewed that as an excellent side benefit. Unfortunately, she hadn’t considered that other sects might actually snap up the talented disciple that she had planned to only temporarily toss aside. The consequences of that mistake are much farther-reaching than she could have ever imagined. Canon divergent after Wei Wuxian gets sent home from the Cloud Recesses lectures after punching Jin Zixuan. Novel canon universe and characterizations. Kay's comments: Kizu dropped another banger!! And now that the first part of the series is finished, I just have to rec it. A story where Wei Wuxian gets kicked out by the Jiangs and publicly humiliated, but Nie Huaisang is right there and immediately snatches Wei Wuxian up for his sect, because he knows how much of an asset he is, something that Wei Wuxian immediately proves. I just love seeing Wei Wuxian surrounded by people who will have his back even while he's a total badass. And the Wangxian characterization is on point once again too! Excerpt: “Shameless!” a familiar voice said, just as Wei Wuxian had almost made it to the top of the steps. He’d been so focused on his own thoughts that he hadn’t noticed that some of the Lan and Nie disciples were gathered in the courtyard, greeting each other. Wei Wuxian supposed it shouldn’t be a big deal that Lan Wangji was yet again voicing his disdain and disapproval of him. But unlike the times during the guest lectures at the Cloud Recesses where he’d been more prepared for it (and sometimes even provoking it on purpose), this time it cut a bit deeper. Anger surged up at him at the judgmental tone in Lan Wangji’s voice, amplifying the hurt and resentment he was already feeling from what had just happened. The only things Lan Wangji had ever said to him while he was at Cloud Recesses—when he bothered to talk to him at all—were to call him boring, shameless, or ridiculous. All Wei Wuxian’s attempts to be his friend had only ever been pushed away.
