funny to me how a lot of people’s reactions to The Gaslight District go like “I wasn’t sure what to think of it at first. When I originally watched the pilot I did not know if I liked it. Of course, after watching the pilot for the 12th time I realized I did actually like it.” It’s so relatable this show just does that to people 😅 Even if it weirds you out or is kind of confusing the first time around, once you’ve come back for a second view it’s already too late. It has barged its way into your brain and barricaded itself there armed with guns and knives. You couldn’t evict it if you wanted and you’re scared to try. You have drawn that bread guy 400 times in the past month and you cannot stop. Or maybe that last part’s just me lol

Writing Gaslight District fic is so fun but also so stressful because the whole show is like five lies in a trenchcoat and trying to keep track of who knows what and how much they know and how they’re handling that information and where they are is SO hard. How does Nick do it I’m crying. These people are so messy. Literally had to make like a whole conspiracy board so I can keep track

Shrike update!

Hellooooo internet folks, the ao3 curse got me good in January but nevertheless, we prevail. After a car accident, getting slammed with a severe bout of TurboDepressionTM, and winding up in the hospital with the worst case of the flu I’ve ever had in my entire goddamn life, I finally have time to write again.

Chapter 11 is in the works and coming soon! Mel and Harley hit the town while Ivy investigates a mystery deep within the Green. The girls take on repressed family dysfunction and unhealthy attachment in a fun and lighthearted night out where definitely nothing else happens. Also John Constantine might be there briefly… for some reason…

Because the gaslight district fandom is kinda small and I’m very obsessed with the show, I’ve had to recruit other friends to watch it with me so I have people to discuss it with irl. Which ends up with me just being very excited to talk about The Character and her little crimes while my friends listen politely as I ramble about some pathetic zombie girl. I’ve managed to get a few people into the show this way and it happens often enough that I’ve started calling it Melevangalism lol

Random TGD thoughts go

Ken talks about having an eternity sentence to the Inferno like it happened a long time ago. Temperance is in his flashback, too. This makes me think he’d already done something (or a lot of somethings) so bad that they literally sentenced him to go to jail forever, BEFORE Mel showed up. So Ken had already maxed out his possible amount of punishment, and then he started raising the human we’re all supposed to destroy. If he already had the maximum sentence, what happens if they catch him now? He harbored the human for, what, two decades, then ate Temperance’s brain, and lied about the Human Death Ceremony, which is also probably a hefty crime because of how this world works. …What are they going to do to this man if they catch him

A cozy winter night turns ugly when the Whale Belly Butcher Shop gets audited. It's up to Mud, Ken, Mel, and Breadhead to keep the restaurant from getting shut down for good with the power of family and a hearty dose of foul play.
