confessions of love
Regal is so funny because at the beginning of the series you might think his life as prince is basically perfect (no responsibilities, endless time to pursue his hobbies of doing drugs, serving cunt, and terrorizing his nephew) and so there's no reason for him to want to be king but you'd be wrong because you forgot about his main hobby: evil
my 3 apple tall child coco 💚🥥
Patience and Chivalry commission for @aporeticelenchus, with a little Fitz as a bonus because it made me feel nostalgic :D Thank you!
(Commissions on Ko-fi)
Oh hey yea *eyes glaze over* Do you think Keppet’s mother learned of FitzChivalry and grieved him when everyone thought he was dead? Do you think she blamed herself for his wit magic that was one of the proprietary reasons for his death? Do you think Keppet’s mother searched for him even after that day in Buckkeep town? She never knew the full extent of what the Farseer’s did to her little Keppet. It mourns me. His mountain mother of mint and golden hair. A woman he craved for and loved as a child, even if he forced himself to forget her.
this kills me daily. When she was mourning her son being taken from her did she at least console herself with the fact that growing up as the son of a prince would keep him safe? Only to hear of his death a few years after the last time she saw him? Had she still hoped he'd come back to her one day? Was she still alive when Fitzchivalry came back and revealed himself to buckkeep? Did the news make it up the mountain in time?
theyre called broad shoulders because theyre for women

Fitz(Chivalry)
You probably can't tell but I tried using a different brush for the rendering and I think I like it!! It gives a very nice painterly texture :D
It's crazy how Kettricken experienced one week of being in a happy marriage and that was literally it happy relationship wise for her entire life post mountains
Isn’t it crazy that patience, aka the person with the most legit reason to be personally upset by Fitz’s birth, was the ONLY one to truly lock the fuck in to loving him as a person who is a child
Sometimes I'm sad we didnt get a real conversation between Patience and Fitz about Chivalry and what he was like but I think it's deliberate to make it clear Patience's love for Fitz was completely about him, she wasnt projecting her love for Chivalry onto him she just loved that kid
One thing in Realm of the Elderlings that I've found striking is that, in Fitz's mind, there is no distinction between familial love and undying loyalty. Ever since he was a child, and King Shrewd promised both an education explicitly and implicitly promised a family and love, in exchange for his promised loyalty, Fitz has seen no difference between the two. Multiple people ask him why he is so loyal to the Farseers, and each time it almost feels like he doesn't even register the question. Of course he's loyal to the Farseers. Family, love, and loyalty are all one thing to him.
I think its striking too that Fitz recognizes and is sad about the fact that Shrewd made him bargain his loyalty in exchange for what Shrewd gave him when he could've just had Fitz's loyalty if he'd just acted like a normal grandfather but never questions whether Shrewd is actually deserving of that loyalty, or whether single minded loyalty to anyone is a healthy way to live. He has so many blinders on that limit how he's able to think about his relationships. I also think its relevant that pretty much the first thing Fitz learns in his life is that everyone who ever loved him can abandon him and he can lose his entire world, and that's something that the Fitz writing in his forged state cant even acknowledge, but had to have shaped his entire outlook on family growing up
I think I was spoiled for the end of Assasins Fate (though am not sure) but the possibility that what I read might be true has me walking around with this constant sense of doom, and I've legit almost cried thinking about it 🤪
My faves from rote! Patience, Chade and Kettricken
