Y’know whenever a new #Discourse hits the Nevermore fandom I’m always like “y’all say you want complex characters but the moment they act even slightly mean or questionable suddenly their character is being assassinated.” Honestly I think some people just want to simp over hot characters with the aesthetic of toxic yuri but without the actual depth, which is fine, but don’t act like it’s the creators’ fault.

Did the character who is trying to blend in with misogynistic men repeating what she heard from them to them (that she does not like) to blend in made you mad? Oh, okay, where was this reaction towards Montresor and Will??

if you want innocent characters who have done nothing wrong in their entire life, you are in the wrong place

Genuinely don't understand why people are mad that Lenore-as-Leo was kinda an asshole in life bc A) she's obviously amping it up to blend in and it's not like she's inciting the shit she has to play along with and B) I'd argue it makes her character more interesting to know that she's not always as nice as she's been to her friends and allies in Nevermore. Remember that, in her mind, everyone in the house is a potential rival or could out her if they found out, so acting the part of a kind of disrespectful man keeps her at a safe distance so people don't get suspicious.

Hi!! I usually just lurk, but I just wanted to give my thoughts on the new discourse. I'm not trying to make anybody mad so please don't hate on me!

In my opinion, the idea that Annabel would be upset about what Lenore is saying while trying to blend in with the other men makes her seem really sensitive and kinda childish. She's a full grown woman fighting for her freedom. Words are only words?? Also we know she likes when Lenore is acting, remember the scene where she blushed at her when Lenore pushed her up against the window in Episode 79? I don't think Annabel would be betrayed if she heard what Lenore said about her bosoms. If anything it might make her blush.

Now about Lenore, lots of ppl are saying this episode means that she has secretly been a misogynist the whole time and I don't understand why. To me, she's been a strong woman and feminist from the start. She even told Annabel's dad that women only work so hard on their looks because men want them to in Episode 157. One sentence over a hundred episodes into the webcomic where she's pretending to be a playboy doesn't change everything she has said and done before, you know!

Also I have noticed the critique that Lenore is sexist now is coming from the same ppl who hated on her for not killing all the maids in her family's mansion. That confuses me???? Isn't murder worse than saying something Annabel might not like?

I have a not so controversial take on nevermore.

1. It's a mystery themed story filled with layers so we won't know everything or most until the end

2. If you dislike certain elements you're allowed to dislike it without saying it's horrible writing or toxic or etc.

3. If you don't like the story, it's not for you.

I personally love it. If you have critiques sure share them but there is a lot of discourse not just on nevermore but in fandoms and media lately that try to justify distaste for blatant issues or "toxic writing".

With that being said, no one cares. Enjoy or don't 💅

While searching through my GDrive I found this tucked away in one of my folders. It is already a year old and somehow never got posted.
