⛨ “ —Arc. Jaune Arc. “ He retorted, somewhat sharply. It wasn’t every day the blond would get this serious, especially with someone of higher ranking, like a leader of an army per say. A sharp tongue ripped through enclosed digits, letting loose a tyrant of attitude and defense for his precious comrade. ⛨
⛨ “ —Mr. Ironwood, Yang would NEVER do anything like that unprovoked. I know her, she’s my friend. No offense, but no one knows the real story, she was the one in the stadium, not you. She doesn’t deserve to be disqualified! “
whilst the general detected the younger man’s tone, he allowed it to go ignored. although he could say he’d never been in the position that miss xiao long or team rwby & their friends were in, he was sure that frustration was one of the top three emotions any of them felt.
a sigh released from between ironwood’s lips. ‘ no, the real story isn’t known, mr arc. we know what miss xiao long has told us; & whether that is the real story or not is in question. but only to us. not to the world. we cannot just disqualify a student for committing a criminal offence that was shown live all over remnant only to have her re entered within the vytal tournament & state that she’s innocent when the world believes differently. has seen differently. people like that in a tournament that is supposed to be a friendly competition scares others. & fear is not good for anyone, mr arc. ‘

Ξ DUSTY OLD CROW. Ξ
▌ This guy was soooo lucky they weren’t meeting face-to-face, or he would have had a fist in his stupidly chiseled face. Slender arms fold over each other, scowl deepening and further creasing his knitted brows. While the curiosity was not misplaced, it delayed the inevitable offer of aid. After all, if he didn’t plan on doing something about the situation, he could’ve just continued on his merry way, ignoring the hanged man. Qrow didn’t have time for this meaningless banter with some stranger whose posture was so straight, he could balance his scythe atop the nest of obsidian hair.
❝Screw off, I’ll get down by myself. Eventually.❞ ▄▀
▌ Caught in a web of tangled branches, he juts out a foot in frustration and kicks at the base of the limb. The wood groans and drops him only a few inches, and Qrow curses audibly, realizing there was a chance, a minor little nagging chance, he’d have to utilize manners. Gross things, those were. Manners. Gaze drifts back to the other, squinting at the telltale signs of a concealed smile. He should be getting paid for giving this guy some ‘quality entertainment’, not having to beg for a helping hand.
❝Are you just gonna stand there and watch,❞ he snaps, ❝or are you going to, oh I don’t know, destroy this tree and release me from the torture of hanging here while looking at your mug?❞ ▄▀
EVERY DAY OUT THERE IS WORTH A WEEK IN THIS PLACE.
perfectly trimmed eyebrows rose in disbelief. whilst james would admit that meeting the man who was currently in the rather amusing predicament before him under any other circumstances would have him believing that he was capable of wriggling out of any odd situation(all of the man just screamed hunter). but the fact he was hanging from a tree did lower the atlesian’s expectations of the other’s capabilities.
however, even with the verbal shooing, james remained where he was, hands crossing over his broad chest and smile, now no longer even attempting to be concealed, growing wider.
at the opposite’s last try for some sort of assistance, a chuckle fell from between ironwood’s lips, his chin then tucking into his shoulder slightly in an attempt to be polite and hide it. after a short moment, james did look back up at the other, a sigh releasing from him that was obviously not as serious as it should of been, his smile being the thing to tip the man stuck in a tree off.
the atlesian’s stance shifted, his hand moving around his body to grasp something tucked behind him.
‘ i advise you to brace yourself for impact. i can’t promise that you’ll leave your formidable foe without injury. ‘ he was determined to get the last snarky comment. suddenly, his arm came back around, now aiming a his silver revolver directly at the beginning of the trees branch. without a moment’s hesitation, pressure fell on the trigger from his finger.

MISS SCHNEE :
❛ that’s a very kind gesture, sir. Thank you. I’ll be keeping that in mind- that is if i ever return to Atlas. ❜
there were days she would interrupt business conversations BETWEEN her father and the general, though the action was done INVOLUNTARILY. she would stand there, clueless and in silence ( she would have waited outside but she knew very well that wouldn’t be a good idea. once her father called her, it definitely meant he wanted / needed something from or of her. be it donations for their company or whatnot - enough to make her miserable, that is. ) and only the silence would break once the door closes by the “winds” doing ( as if it were done PURPOSELY to make her seem like she had not learned any manners. foolish and reckless, he would say. ) with that in mind, she NEEDED to find an escape, a new path to her life where she would act on her own. Atlas wasn’t safe FOR HER, Vale in the other- it was SAFER than anything in the world. her heart warms up, a smile appearing in her snow like face, a rather intimate question regarding her family leaves soft lips ( taking into account her father was not mentioned, and only winter. )
❛ speaking of FAMILY, I hope you don’t mind me asking but how is my sister doing ? I haven’t seen her in awhile and she seemed quite busy once she landed here, and now I can’t seem to find her. ❜
the lack of enthusiasm to return to the schnee’s home came as no surprise to the general. although he was sure he should have felt some offence to her emotion on the subject of atlas, he merely felt PITY. an expression he would never share as he was sure she wouldn’t accept the condescending thought. she was strong. something james admired& respected-an aspect her and her sister shared that often had him showing a soft spot for the them (although, his profession meant there was a lack of time where he could be easy in the older schnee so instead opted to a stoic expression that was often seen on his face).
the mention of winter schnee almost had him pulling on the stoic face, something he’d resort to when she was usually mentioned so he wasn’t seen being bias in front, for example, representatives of the council. however, as soon as the general realised his mistake in front of the younger, his lips fell into a smile & a chuckle released from his throat.
‘ i-..i apologise, miss schnee. ‘ james hastily amended, but the upturned curl of his lips remained as his body shifted to his usual tall stance with his hands behind his back.
‘ your sister is doing well. i imagine she would tell you differently with her persistence to always do successful whilst she constantly undermines herself, but i'm sure you give her the encouragement she needs each time you speak with her. i’m certain that’s one of the things that drives her. ‘

He heard the muttered words, but he chose to ignore them as he refilled his own glass and set the bottle between them. The bartender was still eyeing him warily, prompting a dramatic sigh as Roman reached into his pocket and pulled out a wallet (with a chain, mind you. Call it hypocritical, but he wasn’t about to get pick-pocketed.) The leather fell open and Roman slammed down enough to cover the bottle (as well as a more or less generous tip), which seemed to satisfy the tender.
And once again, they were left relatively alone. Other than the pairs of eyes trained entirely on them. It wasn’t everyday Roman Torchwick walked into a bar - usually preferring casinos or other, louder places - and it was certainly a rarity for him to confront a general eye to eye. Even he wasn’t that stupid.
Until tonight, apparently, when he had to grab a hold of the bar to keep himself from toppling over.
“Goddammit, Jim, do you hear yourself?” his voice was disproportionately loud compared to the silence of the room, but he didn’t care. “And here I was thinking I was the one with a buzz.”
The laughter was toned down to a chuckle with the shake of the head, his demeanor fading from uproarious to a more or less appropriate attitude for the situation. Well, more or less appropriate for him.
“Just how much of a lightweight do you think I am? I know I can hold my liquor better than you - especially since you’re reduced to sexual innuendos even while stone cold sober.”
He refilled the other’s glass, sipping his at more moderate rate as he appreciated the amber reflection from the lights.
the sound of a chain moving had james slowly moving his eyes from the bartender. although they remained narrowed, especially when they landed the amount of lien that the criminal offered. the general had a suspicion that almost all of what was in his wallet was stolen or earned from gambling (his winnings most likely won from the betting of more stolen lien).
james didn’t even try to hide his disapproval, his head shaking and a frustrated sigh eliciting from between his lips. he knew there was no point really showing it but after teaching so many students, the habit for disapproval to grace his face even at the most trivial of things was hard to break.
and when more liqueur was added to his glass, ironwood didn’t even hesitate to take a rather large swig of it. something told him he’d need it if he was going to babysit a notorious criminal.
however, not all of it made it into his mouth. he practically choked at roman’s comment, only just being able to save himself from what could’ve been an embarrassing reaction to everyone in the room. but the flush on his face could not be hidden.
‘ se-- innuendos? i make no such things! i am not as FILTHY minded you are! clearly! ‘ his glass was lowered back to the counter, his face purposely tucked away to hide the pink that dusted his cheeks.
‘ and i am not a lightweight! ‘
AMBER :
little soldier man, you are in a hurricane’s way. brave little lion, you will fade away. each word cummulates the wrath. a vulcano that threats to erupt at any given second, a storm on the sea controlled by the darkest witches, a tide that shall bring back desolation to the paved roads and fluorishing cultures. years ago, the last autumn died before amber received the blessing of the wizard ; torn apart by the grimm, vanishing under their claws and teeth, a maiden was taken away from the world whilst the younger sister stood frozen and watched. it cannot be the same with summer now. it will not be the same with summer. when he stands before her, chastitement spilling past an initial convincing, there is no wise general to her eyes. no newly appointed official that fights the same war. instead, for a matter of a heartbeat, he is mistaken for an enemy – someone who wishes for delay in order to present the assailants an upper hand. an obstacle to her chivalrous desire for retribution, a white glove tossed to her feet as an invitation to a duel. if amber needs to defeat ironwood first to make him vanish from the path that leads to justice, so she will do. gods, she will. walnut orbs glow golden. the power of fall claws at the edges of her body and demands to be released, here, now, once and for all, birthing a flame that resonates from her eyeballs ; a frown and teeth bared in anger, fire consuming her gaze, she is prepared to retaliate. a breath away from summoning the ancient spirit of the seasons. a blink away from reaching for his bones. bring demise to these dreadful foes, child of autumn. for summer. towering above her, there stands a beast controlled by the darkness, corrupted by idleness. clad in white and black, there stands a servant to the choir of their finale. the face of a deferment that leads to devastation. the face… senses return to her alike a crushing wave of realization that dawns upon a blinded mind, and the flame is gone immediately. the masterpiece made of all hues of wrath replaced by bewilderment. she could have… she would have… a rapid exhale leaves the lungs and amber hangs her head in shame, hands covering the eyes. that man, the hero of her legends, the saviour of so many souls, of her own soul, disrespected so disgustingly by someone he only sought to protect. each thought deepens the disgust, the distaste on the tip of the tongue, and a grieving voice whispers, ‘ —— forgive me, general ironwood. i… ‘ teeth press upon the lower lip then, attempting to console the ache of her foolishness by distracting it with physicality. i would have never done that, her mind wishes to swear, yet the past proves otherwise. hazel proves otherwise.
silence within the room made itself aware to the general, his chin held high whilst he stood in a strong position, using the facade to stand in the maiden’s way. an intimidating stance, he’d learned as headmaster-a thing he’d had to use several times since becoming general. he’d realised that that was all the position was now; pretending to be well composed constantly & having the strength to tear down your enemies, both physically & verbally. everything that james could do, but made him disgusted with himself. he was just another member of the council who sat back whilst other did the work but he took the credit. a month into the job & looking in the mirror in the morning had him faltering.
just as he did now. a maiden in front of him. the angriest look on her face, full of rage & fire just waiting to be released to cause chaos. & the general turned back on. the headmaster within him to protect everyone. he truly considered it- a strategy to take down a maiden. for good, if necessary. he swallows at the thought, nervous & frightened. for both HIM & HER. silence had weaved it’s way through every crack & crevice in the room that he was sure she could hear his fear, every move he made & was going to make.
her eyes flare, the fire visibly unconstrained for mere seconds & yet powerful enough to make him too reckless. his right foot sliding forward into close combat battle stance, the metallic side of his body having more force for melee attacks. fortunately, the maiden before him didn’t know that. his lips part & a deep breath is drawn in, then held. hand inches towards his revolver, so close & yet-
SHE’S back. A M B E R. his hand drops, his foot shifts back to formal stance but he remains tense. he’s sure it’s visible & doesn’t want her thinking it’s because of her but he can’t make himself relax. a specialist’s nature; defensive & well guarded even after the fight has passed. just in case.
the breath he was holding is very audibly released, silence pushed away on purpose to at least attempt to make things neutral. it doesn’t work very well.
he remains in front of her, fighting the itching feel to move away from the fire but siding with the lack of trust that she still might leave. his general instincts are clear within & it makes him frown. she’s not much older than his students. and he’s a headmaster first. as harsh as he can be, he cares & trusts. his shoulders lower slightly, less tense. and try as he might, he can’t get his voice to show kind emotion. it’s simply blank.
‘ it’s fine. i too apologise for my harshness. ‘ he’s sure it doesn’t sound genuine. it also doesn’t help that his eyes are lowered to the ground like he’s lying or worse; that she thinks he’s ashamed of her. his eyes IMMEDIATELY raise to meet her’s at that thought.
i can so imagine ironwood being that one uncle who can’t say no to his nephews and nieces when they ask for something, so the kids in rwby ask for more ridiculous things until he’s explaining to the council in atlas why he gave a bunch of teenagers a tank
AMBER :
power lies not in numbers, but in unity. her lungs scream out a thousand soundless objections. upon the chessboard, pieces matter so little ; once they are discarded from the position occupied beforehand, on white or black, they are just as effortlessly forgotten on the sidelines that belong to the doomed. in a month’s time, none will remember the grieving soul of the summer maiden. in a year’s time, none will remember the summer maiden at all. her grand, overpowering sacrifice in the name of a game held by those thinking themselves superior. and while remnant dwells in ever undying conflicts, unable to settle on what fits all, how can there exist a unity that shall bring them closer to victory? her stride so determined and fierce does not falter. steps taken towards the exit continue in their tracks, slowing only when amber finds a necessity in responding to the general’s convincing attempts ; he is her hero. of course he is. a knight in a shiny armor belonging to the realm of the demigods, where mere humans should never dare glance, he is alike so many of the legends she read about as a child, as an adolescent youngling, and as an adult as well. but in that matter, he is wrong. ‘ —-time is not something i can give anymore, general! if they have found one of the four seasons, stole what makes us maidens, then it’s a matter of that time they find the rest of us. and if so, what is the point in hiding from our foes? —— i will see their faces and give them what they want. ‘ a wolf clad in a deer’s skin, tonight. ‘ it is only just that i return them to the ashes they have arisen from. i will… i will burn them, for what they have done. for their greed. ‘ hands squeeze into fists and nails dig into the sun-kissed skin, almost drawing blood. the steps freeze too, at last. am i bound to fade away too, just like summer did?
he wants to comfort her, to tame her rage but even a mad man wouldn’t attempt that. once she had made up her mind, picked her fight, let the fire grow, every unprepared person who stood in her way was ash. he had learned that quickly. it didn’t assist his cause that he too had a passion to finally take down their enemies, to put a stop to what could quickly escalate to all out panic. but ozpin had said wait. had said he had a plan & it involved time. something they somehow always had little of but always had some. that’s why james stood where he did. objected like a insane man to a woman who could destroy him. that’s what he told himself. he didn’t quite have the courage to admit to himself that it was also for HER. for HER safety.
but he wasn’t allowed to worry for HER. it wasn’t his duty. his duty was to worry for the safety of atlas for the safety of the maiden more than HER. the power that the maiden had. & although the thought of the protection that came with that power appealed to him, she appealed to him more.
he couldn’t suggest she hide or run. that was a coward’s way out. & as much as he cared for safety, he wasn’t about to even admit to having the idea. so he did take the madder than mad man’s route.
he stands in her way.
‘ you are thinking like a RECKLESS student! this is something i expect from the soldiers in training at atlas academy-even then they get one opportunity to act like fools & then they’re out ! is your plan to charge head first into our enemies territory & use every weapon you have at your disposal? or perhaps it’s to lure them out with the idea that you’ll end this once and for all! you are MAIDEN. i am a GENERAL, a STRATEGIST. & ozpin is someone we should trust above ALL. if he says he has a plan & it takes time, then take his word for it & WAIT. that man can pull time out of nowhere & use it to our advantage! and..at the very least, if you don’t trust him, trust M E. ‘ perhaps he thinking to much like a fool himself to think that treating her like one of his men then asking her to trust him is a good idea. but he wants-no, N E E D S-to protect her.
Qrow or Tai's reaction to Ironwood's new outfit?
tag yourself Im Taiyang
isn’t it sad— to see people smile through the pain, when mother and father are both disregarding your presence but also your feelings ? her words bleed out of her mouth, without anyone giving her strength to be free because she was different, living under a roof of selfish people- both careless. they say that people have the right to make their own choices, but for some people their path is chosen for THEM.

A better look at Yang’s new automail arm. Seriously, I really hope they keep it this color.
Also I’m really glad that Ironwood had it delivered to Yang and was already working on it for her before Taiyang had even got in touch with him. Irondaddy continues to cement his status as Best Man in RWBY.

He was so tense it was a wonder he wasn’t actually made of stone. Though Roman was still half inclined to take the step forward and test this theory for sure. It would not have been a shock to discover that the general’s skin held no warmth.
He was so good at hiding his emotions that it was painfully obvious that he was. Was he not tired of keeping that mask up?
“Hey now, last time we tried that I ended up crashing your ship-” and getting eaten by a bird, but that wasn’t relevant, “-I think we’ll both be happier right were we are.”
He grinned, gesturing to the street on which they stood.
at least the general could later protest to the council that he had attempted to arrest the thief. although, he’d happily apply some necessary force if things got too unbearable.
james had to pause at that thought. when had he began thinking that the criminal himself wasn’t naturally too unbearable? usually, he’d have have his revolver out, finger on the trigger & steadily pointed at roman torchwick, the renown criminal’s, head.
however, the reminder that his personal ship lay in ruins somewhere within beacon had him hiding the thought beneath everything in his mind.
‘ happiness is something i refuse to experience until you are within four walls of reinforced steel. ‘
the smile was returned, if not a little arrogant.

ah, the mighty child of heroes and demigods that is what you have become. a piece in someone’s game. the soul of autumn blazes within her now, has been since the unfortunate news regarding an attack on the spring maiden ; orange and bronze intertwine together, nurturing a spark that soon consumes the consciousness as a whole. tonight, she is not a soft wind of fall that lulls the world to a wintry sleep. tonight, she is a hurricane that leaves winter naught to freeze. although traces left by the assailant are scarce and yet unclear, she remains adamant in her determination. the entire speech given by the general is therefore met by a fierce shaking of her head, and before he may continue the nonsense, amber cuts in, ‘ i am not a piece, general. ‘ the wrath held for the evildoers rings in her voice even now, & she is already on her way out of ironwood’s office. ‘ ——– i am their regret of ever raising a hand on one of us four. ‘ and you are not coming along at any cost, is what lingers unsaid. the voice of rational thinking that regards everyone but herself.
a chair scuffing against soft carpet sounds throughout the office, empty as it is with little but a desk & chair to accompany it, papers strewn out across both the desk & the floor. temporary, he’s been assured, whilst his own office is upgraded with atlesian tech (something the previous general had often looked at with disdain). the general’s lips are already parted & throwing out protests to her exit, hands splayed across the papers upon the desk that they had landed on in his sudden fit of objection.
‘ miss- i didn’t mean-.... ‘ a long sigh escapes him through a clenched jaw. he knows he has little time before she is fully out of the room, little to no objects in the way to halt her. ‘ you’re right. you are not a piece within a game. this is the VERGE of war to us. and if we lose you- a person, an innocent girl, a M A I D E N- to them, war will be INEVITABLE. ‘ james steps past the desk slowly, as if he were afraid he’d frighten the opposite way like a person would a deer. ‘ you said it yourself, they raised their hand against one of the maidens already. what’s to stop them raising a FIST against you- and only you? there is POWER in numbers, amber. & give us time, & we can gather an army to fight our foes; not just atlesian soldiers. ozpin claims he has a plan. ‘ her name is spoken with caution, as if the formality of first names almost unknown to him
