Embassy Honors America's Wounded Warriors

On Sunday, May 20th, the Israeli Defense and Armed Forces Attaché to the United States, Major General Gadi Shamni and his wife, Hadas Shamni, hosted the second annual dinner honoring American wounded warriors from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at the Embassy of Israel in Washington, D.C. The U.S. soldiers were joined by their families and other officers of the Embassy's Defense Attaché office for a dinner honoring the wounded soldiers' military service.

MG Shamni thanked the brave soldiers for their service saying "you represent the very best of American society, who took responsibility and a heavy burden on your shoulders, by joining the US military to serve your country."

Senior U.S. officials attending the event included Former Deputy Secretary of Defense , Ambassador Paul Wolfowitz; National Director of the FIDF, Mrs. Nily Falic; Asst. Chairman of the JCS for NG Matters, MG Kelly McKeague; the wife of Commander, JIEDDO, Mrs. Linda Barbero and Board members of The Aleethia Foundation.

Israel: UNHRC's action is flawed and biased

This fact-finding mission will find no cooperation in Israel, and its members will not be allowed to enter Israel and the territories. Its existence embodies the inherent distortion that typifies the UNHRC treatment of Israel and the hijacking of the important human rights agenda by non-democratic countries. (Communicated by the MFA Spokesperson) The UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) announced today (Friday, July 6 2012) the membership of a fact-finding mission on Israeli settlements.

The establishment of this mission is another blatant expression of the singling out of Israel in the UNHRC and of the uncandid approach that characterizes the Council's dealing with Israel. This singling out of Israel has unfortunately roots at the very base of the UNHRC, and has even been formally institutionalized in its founding documents (article 7 of the Permanent Agenda).

Israel has suspended its ties with the UNHRC following the latter's decision, in March, to establish this fact-finding mission, and decided to withhold cooperation with its proceedings and products. Israel was left with no choice other than to take this decision, after it became apparent that putting the disproportionate focus on Israel, while systematically ignoring massive human rights violations in the very countries who bear responsibility for this focus, only leads to the contempt and degradation of the important cause of universal human rights. The suspension of ties by Israel is a wake-up call to democratic countries, who should attempt to fix the serious corruption of the UNHRC and not allow the trampling of human rights precisely where the international community must raise their banner. One example among many: at a time when President Assad's regime is massacring thousands of its own people, the UNHRC only dedicates it symbolic attention, as if to go through the motions, while turning its resources to obsessively focus, yet again, on Israel. This fact-finding mission will find no cooperation in Israel, and its members will not be allowed to enter Israel and the territories. Its existence embodies the inherent distortion that typifies the UNHRC treatment of Israel and the hijacking of the important human rights agenda by non-democratic countries. The latter, unbothered by and dismissive of human rights, are taking advantage of their political and numerical weight in order to distort systematically the proceedings and rules of the UNHRC and to empty its workings of all moral content. IDF establishes a combat cameramen unit

Functioning as both elite fighters and highly skilled photographers, dozens of combat soldiers will provide live footage from within the battlefield

For the first time in the IDF, a combat cameramen unit will be established, composed of dozens of combat soldiers responsible for documenting from within the battlefield. After completing eight month of combat training with the Golani Infantry Brigade, the soldiers will join the division that is currently forming in the IDF Spokesperson Unit. With highly professional filming skills, the soldiers will be able to quickly provide footage to be used for informative purposes.

“The modern battlefield has changed and more bodies, armed with cameras, are working to change public opinion. The IDF must accommodate this changing reality, where different organizations may falsify facts in accordance with their own objectives,” explained Commander of the IDF Spokesperson combat cameramen unit, Maj. Micha Ohana.

The project was launched three years ago, when the first combat photographers were drafted and received only partial combat training. All current cameramen have a background in filming, and join forces as independent units. During wartime, the cameramen join the war effort and function as both photographers and combat soldiers. During the Cast Lead Operation, the photographers were incorporated in the battlefield and provided informatory footage, used to depict true images and occurrences from the battlefield.

According to Maj. Ohana, the cameramen serve as combat soldiers, training in anti-terrorism techniques, urban warfare and more. The cameramen will be provided with highly advanced technological means capable of conveying live footage to be publicized worldwide for informative, intelligence, and operational purposes. Additional footage will be provided from IAF aircraft, Israeli Navy vessels and intelligence posts.

Mike Evans tells whats happening in the world about Iran unlike the US Government withholding information from the US public ! Ahmadinejad just launched a missle into space that could contain in the future nuclear weapons . We in the US don't pay attention to this, it could one day not only be launched at Israel but at the US and Europe too. My hats off to Mike Evans to all his research . This is an excellent book on the topic. I commend Mike for writing this book and alerting us all about this immediate threat to humanity !!! Everyone should read this book. It is a must read for any person who lives in the West or East !!
