hey! donate to uk trans charities today because it’s gonna be a rough one
Folks in the UK, could we have some trusted links to charities?
There's Mermaids which is always a great option, and then Scotland-specific there's LGBT Youth Scotland, to give you just a couple. There will absolutely be more that other people can suggest though!
A couple I donate to: TransAid Cymru, to support Welsh trans people, and The Outside Project, which helps queer people in London struggling with homelessness (and as trans people make up a disproportionately large number of unhoused people, it feels very relevant.)
Goes without saying, but don't donate to Pride Cymru, because they're complete shit.
Some more:
Trans Kids Deserve Better - youth led resistance and activism.
Gendered Intelligence - Services for trans, non-binary and gender questioning people, parents and carers.
Trans Actual - a national, trans led and run organisation focussed specifically on working for trans adults in the UK. A particular focus on healthcare and trans people’s legal protections.
Trans Solidarity Alliance - a non-profit organisation and advocacy network that supports trans community organisations and activists to work together in partnership with cis allies to drive positive change for trans people in the UK.
Black Trans Foundation - supporting Black trans people in the U.K. with grassroots campaigning and crowdfunding - currently on hiatus.
Black Trans Alliance - peer to peer support.
And very much seconding The Outside Project. It’s one of the few trans night shelters in the UK and they do incredible work.
