So he stays quiet, listening to Shaeeah read to him and when she struggles with some words, he helps her out. And it’s in that moment that really opens him up to the idea of a life after the war. He starts imagining you reading to your kids when they’re sick and him helping them learn how to read.
Right? Okay so fast forward to after Order 66, and Rex manages to sneak back onto Coruscant to get you with help from the Martez twins. You guys don’t have a lot of time, maybe an hour tops, so you’re both shoving your basic necessities into a backpack before you’re both hauling ass back to meet the sisters. All of a sudden, Rex stops in the middle of the street and starts asking you if you packed the book. And you’re looking at him like “the fuck are you talking about?” And he tells you the book, your children’s book, and you tell him no because, you know, priorities.
Rex tells you to head to the hanger and that he would meet you there, but if he isn’t back in 15 minutes then for you and the Martez sisters to go. And it’s all very dramatic a la Jack and Rose on the Titanic because the minutes keep counting down and he still isn’t back and Rafa is pushing to leave and they’re just about to take off when Rex makes it back with the fucking book.
You guys make it the fuck out of Coruscant and the Core Worlds, but not without some rough quickies in the back of the Silver Angel. He eventually tells you once the sisters drop you guys off about why he needed to get the book and it just makes your heart soar because even after everything and how hard he is now, there is still that soft and sensitive part of him.
So I know I've been pretty radio silent for the past couple months and I just want to let everyone know why.
First off, I got married at the end of October which took up a lot, if not most of my time between August and then. Well three days after the wedding my husband and I found a house and started the long and frustrating process of buying said house. (Just a tip for anyone who plans on buying a house in the future, tax transcripts are NOT the same things as w2's. Something that the mortgage company failed to tell us until almost too late 🙄)
Most of January was spent moving and getting settled, which took longer than I would've liked but both my husband and I work 40hr weeks. And in top of that, my work is demanding overtime so now I'm working 60+hr weeks.
But unfortunately the hiatus is going to have to last another month or two. I was just told this morning that my pap had stage 4 lung cancer and he's gonna start radiation next week. I'm just kinda at a loss right now cause I loved with him for a time when I was a kid and I'm just having trouble processing that I might lose him in the next couple months.

Hello! You are by far my favorite author on this app and I’m so inspired and just utterly impressed by you writing capabilities! Do you have any tips for a young and mediocre writer as myself? Writing process, inspo, etc.? Really love your work!
Oh my gosh idk I don’t really feel like I’m in a position to be giving advice but I can just reiterate what I find works well for me and then see if trying some of these things can help??
I personally skip around within a chapter (or even multiple chapters, I have one or two scenes written for the last chapter of rough day already) because I think that helps with creative flow and narrative structure. It’ll allow you to write whatever scene you feel like writing at any point so you avoid stunting your creativity/progress, and it’ll also require you to look ahead and figure out how the plot progression will play out at the same time. Sometimes I find myself wanting to throw in something extra in a scene that I wasn’t planning that could change the whole narrative trajectory and skipping around allows me to avoid urges very similar to this that I’m sure every author at any level has experienced:

But yes that’s one of my biggest recommendations, skip around. There are a ton of benefits to it and the few amount of drawbacks just allow you to develop better writing skills to counteract them. You’ll learn how to keep the same flow and seamlessly continue writing no matter if you’re feeling smutty, feelsy, angsty, whatever. It’s good practice and I think produces a better result, at least for me.
The other suggestion I have is to write for different characters. Idk if you’re a fanfic writer or an original author, but having a diverse type of personalities you can portray in your work is always going to be a good thing, including the protagonists. Being able to flex those skills and write for an evil genius or a heroic paladin or even just a wide-eyed puppy dog is really important. I’d argue that being able to understand and then portray the depth and range to your characters is arguably the most important thing in a story, so that’s what I’d probably suggest valuing above most else. Everybody has a way of speaking and acting and phrasing things, their body language and how they’d respond to situations—basically I try to value that above plot. Things happen to characters instead of the other way around; the integrity of characterization doesn’t change depending on whatever plot you’ve crafted around them. It’s really easy for fanfic authors to manipulate characters to fit the whims of the narrative, and I’m sure it’s even easier to do it in original fic since those characters ARE yours and any change you make is canon. But I’d suggest treating them as the same, as if the people you’ve created ARENT yours. They have their own flaws and strengths and comforts and dislikes, and keeping that consistency is important.
ANYWAYS I hope this helped and I’m sorry I can’t be of more assistance!! These things are just things that I keep in mind that help me, I hope I was able to shed a little insight on my process and I wish you the best of luck in all your future writing endeavors!!!🥰🥰
