This carried over into episode 3, âCarentan,â which ends with a slide stating that âAlbert Blithe never recovered from the wounds he received in Normandy. He died in 1948.â        Though his family publicly corrected this error, not all editions of the book, or of the series have the correction. Blithe actually was a career soldier serving in the Korean war and died in 1967 while on active duty in Germany, and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery with full honors.
