SGCI Demo handouts
Visit http://web.utk.edu/~sphere/Pages/Demos.html to find descriptions, full credit, and incredibly helpful step-by-step PDF handouts from the demos. Be sure to check out the rest of the demos I didn’t cover as well: they were all very informative. -KW

Audrey learns to engrave using an air-pressure tool system at the trade fair. The SGCI trade fair: Come for the free goodies from booths, leave with the strong “need” for expensive new equipment. -KW
Demo round-up #5: “Paper plate lithography: Fast, Cheap, and Easy,” by Heather Muise. She showed how to “etch” wet paper laser printouts or toner copies using gum arabic and apply the inked up plates to different surfaces (paper and glass, above). No press required! -KW
Demo round-up #4: “I wanna flock (from Rocks)!” by Tate Foley. The demo explored how transparent ink runs can be transformed via the addition of iridescent pigments that are powdered on the prints while still wet. The print is left to dry for 5+ days, then excess pigment is brushed off, with borders cleaned using a white eraser. TIP: use cream paper: it cleans more easily than white. -KW
Demo round-up #3: “INK 2.0: The Creative Potential of Advanced Ink Technologies” presented by Brian Gonzales. Demo included color-shifting inks and silkscreen applications for these liquid-crystal technologies. -KW
Demo Round-up #2: “One + One = Infinity,” by Art Werger. Werger described how to customize runs of warms and cool a la poupée inking techniques to create a “full-color” intaglio print. -KW
Demo Roundup #1: 3-Ring Circuits: Creating Interactive Sculptures with Paper Circuits, by Erik Waterkotte, Heather Freeman and Ryan Buyssens. Essentially, use ink infused with copper or carbon (sold as circuit-drawing ink) and silkscreen techniques to embed circuitry into prints.

More sculptures and walking passed a charity event for rescue dogs and puppies. Then, we got on the trolley and went to explore more of the city.
