A Tale of Two Sisters, Day One

Joan Baez was the popular face of folk music in the early 60’s when she meet Bob Dylan and began to move towards socially conscious music. Bob greatly benefitted from her covering his songs and introducing him at concerts. They were romantically involved from 1962 to 1965 as his career ignited.

“Diamonds & Rust” is Joan’s take on their time together from the perspective of 1975. It’s the best song she ever wrote and the source for endless ruminations by Dylanologists. The album Diamonds & Rust is filled with other good songs, a joy all the way through.
