Drunk on the moon
Run - Beat Assailant
Music Drop is back! It’s the 53rd edition, and decided to finally post this (I had it on my list since the beginning of Drop actually), and also because this song is really good material.
Adam Turner aka Beat Assailant was born in Atlanta in 1977. He is an American artist known for fusing hip-hop with jazz, funk, and other musical genres.
"Push the boundaries of hip-hop"
Not only is this song cool but the video clip as well. It’s the story of a guy prepping for a holdup in a bank. You follow him through the events, somehow the guy has the ability turn rewind time and escape all the mistakes and errors happening during the heist.
Hope you guys enjoyed this short review,we’ve got stuff on cool music, Awesome movies, and Thrilling video games! See you soon for more!
The Expanse - 2015
Sup’ everyone! Welcome to drop! it’s Movie drop 53 and today it’s space stuff again!
So I was asking myself what to watch a few weeks back, after My name is Earl and The IT crowd I had to find something as awesome! (true sci-fi is far from those two, but still , a good series is a good series no matter what it’s about)
Created by Mark fergus and Hawk Otsby ( both for Iron Man & Children of Man) in 2015, The expanse is set two hundred years in the future, in a fully colonized Solar System. A few characters from different Stations/Planets face different incidents/challenges in galactic troubled politic times. They slowly discover a vast conspiracy that threatens the Earth's rebellious colony on the asteroid belt.
For me it’s finally good, modern and well structured sci-fi stuff! Camera work, atmosphere, and backgrounds reminiscent from greats like Outland and Alien.
Fisrt i thought “ Is it possible that the Syfy channel finally produced a space drama that isn't complete garbage? “ The answer is YES! I was hooked immediately.
Try it out, and always remember the Cant! That’s it for today’s ;) if you liked it be sure to check out the rest of Drop for more Games, Movies and Music! See ya
Let Me Go Home, Whiskey - Snooks Eaglin
Hey guys, it’s not the end the week yet but let’s enjoy an old dusty blues to relax coming home from work!
Today’s song ( Let Me Go Home, Whiskey ) has been written by John Willie “Shifty” Henry (quite the cool name huh?) who was a Bass and trumpet player but also a Jazz, blues & R&B-Music song writer. Played for the first time in 1953 by Amos Milburn (an important performer of blues music in the years immediately after World War II). All that said my favorite version of this song is played by Snooks Eaglin aka Blind Snooks Eaglin or "Lil" Snook. He had a Ray Charles kinda singing. Generally regarded as a legend of New Orleans music, he played a wide range of styles of music within the same concert, album, or even song: blues, rock and roll, jazz, country, and Latin. His ability to play a wide range of songs and make them his own earned him the nickname "the human jukebox." Eaglin claimed in interviews that his musical repertoire included some 2,500 songs. At live shows, he did not usually prepare set lists and was unpredictable, even to his bandmates. He played songs that came to him on stage, and he also took requests from the audience. That’s as awesome as impressive if you ask me!!!
I just love this song because it’s so simple slow and funny, and we all at one point in our lives felt this way with one or the other drinks!!!
Thanks for reading, don’t forget to Check out the rest of Drop, We got stuff on cool music, Awesome movies, and Thrilling video games! See you soon for more!
Paris, Texas (1984)
Hi guys, wassup?! Hope you guys are enjoying the late summer we have here in Europe. It’s great! Speaking of great, I have some good stuff for you today. So without a Proper intro. Let go to the USA with movie Drop #52.
Paris, Texas came out in 1984 and was directed by none other than Wim Wenders! It tells us the story of Travis Henderson ( Harry Dean Stanton ) , a man that wandered out of the desert after a four year absence. His brother Walt fetches him and he is soon reunited with his son Hunter. He can't really explain why he's been away or why he's suddenly reappeared. Travis and Hunter eventually set off together to find Jane, Travis' wife and Hunter's mother. She is found working in a peep show in Houston but a happy family reunion isn't in the cards.
I would say that Paris, Texas is not for everyone, but, truly, that can be said about every movie. But I will say this: fans of methodically paced, beautifully shot, existentially rooted, and purely experiential cinema will not be disappointed. I have never seen a film before or since that presents the extremes of love, pain, and loss with such immediacy and ruthless candor.
That’s it for today, and maybe for a while (lots of work), but feel free to ask me anything on my twitter, and I’ll see you guys ASAP.

Dropkick Murphys - I’m Shipping Up to Boston
Hi guys, for all of you who are chilling at home on this Sunday evening, here’s a not so chilly song, to wake you up. Let’s go for Music Drop #51!
Dropkick Murphys are an American Celtic punk band formed in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1996. initially consisting of lead vocalist Mike McColgan, bassist/vocalist Ken Casey, guitarist Rick Barton, and drummer Jeff Erna. The band was named after Dr. John "Dropkick" Murphy's alcohol-detoxification facility. This gang of crazies is known for their loud, energetic live shows.
In 2005 the band released the album The Warrior's Code, included today’s song "I'm Shipping Up to Boston". The video features the Dropkick Murphys performing the song on the waterfront in East Boston. The band is also seen "hanging out" with hooligans while being chased by Boston police officers. The song's simple lyrics describe a sailor who had lost a leg climbing the topsail, and is shipping up to Boston to "find my wooden leg."
The song was featured in the 2006 Academy Award-winning movie The Departed (Starring Dicaprio, Nicholson, Damon) by Martin Scorsese. The film takes place in Boston. Irish Mob boss Francis "Frank" Costello (Jack Nicholson) plants Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) as a mole within the Massachusetts State Police.
It’s not a really good Sunday song, but a good party one that you can keep in mind for next weekend ;)
Hope you like it! See you soon for more Games, Movies and Music on Drop!
Garden State - 2004
Hi guys, This is movie Drop #51! I wanted to post this movie for a while, but somehow procrastination kept me from it :D
You guys probably know Zach Braf from Scrubs, but he made a movie!
The first public screening of the film was at a benefit in Detroit for a charity working with mentally challenged people.
Andrew Largeman is a semi-successful television actor who plays a intellectually disabled quarterback. After his moms death he comes back to his hometown. As a pretty emotional messed up guy he starts to feel some pain he so much longed for and start a “relationship“ with Sam (played by the wonderfull Nathalie Portman, that woman is impressive in so many ways!!!!).
This is a movie where you can somewhere find yourself and relate to the characters. I notice a lot of people writing that they didn't like Garden State and that's fine, I personally thought it was excellent. Unfortunately not everyone wants to see movies that remind them of reality. I also think it was a quiet reflection for Braf and a proof that somehow love will find it’s way. Always...
I also gathered a few interesting facts about the movie:
Natalie Portman was Braff's first choice for the role of Sam but he never thought he would get her.
The movie is based partly on Zach Braff's own childhood in New Jersey, as well as his days as a struggling actor in Los Angeles before the success of Scrubs (2001).
If you guys (like I did ) wondered what the motorcycle is, it’s a Russian/Ukrainian Dnepr.
That was it for this week’s Movie Drop, if liked be sure to check out the rest of Drop for more Games, Movies and Music! See ya!
Musical Youth - Pass the Dutchie
Sup’ guys the good weather is here and heat too (dayum the heat), so I felt like sharing some sunshine with you ;P Welcome to Music Drop #50! Musical Youth is a British reggae band. The group was formed in 1979 when the fathers of Kelvin and Michael Grant and Frederick (known as Junior) and Patrick Waite put together a band featuring their sons. Although schoolboys, the group managed to secure gigs at different Birmingham pubs and released a double single in 1981. It’s not the greatest song or the greatest band, still don’t forget at the time they were kids, and made pretty good shit!
About the song itself, like you can imagine when talking about reggae, the song is about pot (”pass the Koutchie”), but he title had been subtly altered to feature the patois "dutchie", referring to a type of pot used for cooking. The accompanying video made them the first black artists to be played on MTV. That’s pretty cool if you ask me!
I love the song, the video is also cool. The facts that kids are kickin’ it a plus. So I hope you’re gonna enjoy this as much as I do right now.
That’s it for this Reggae Drop with this funny song, hope you like it. I’ll see you soon for more cool stuff ;) If you liked this short review, to come back every week for more Drop stuff, about Movies, Games and Music.
King of California - 2007
Hi everyone, welcome to this #50th session of Movie Drop! For today I have for you a movie that I totally forgot, and randomly found again (that’s a really cool feeling especially if it’s a good one!!). so Here we go with a really cool Drama with Micheal Douglas!
King of California came out in 2007. It is not that well know and it is surely not for Micheal Douglas or Evan Rachel Wood but I loved it right away.
This succulent movie tells us the story of Charlie, father of Miranda coming home from a mental hospital after years. He finds his daughter in a relatively peaceful existence she's built for herself, working at McDonald's. Persuaded and obsessed obsessed with the notion that the long-lost treasure of Spanish explorer Father Juan Florismarte Garces is buried somewhere near their suburban California housing unit. Charlie disrupts Miranda's quiet life to drag her into a crazy adventure. King of California is a nice little movie where all the things that could have been done wrong weren't... The film has a great balance of drama and humor, with just a touch of adventurous excitement. This is one of the best movies of 2007. Make sure not to miss it!
That’s it for today’s ;) if you liked it be sure to check out the rest of Drop for more Games, Movies and Music! See ya
Manowar - Carry on
Hey guys it’s been a while! Sometimes there are just no enough hours in a day....but instead of listing excuses, let’s rock. Let’s rock hard, for Music Drop #49. Manowar is an American heavy metal band from New York City. Formed in 1980, by Joe DeMaio and Ross the Boss (also known for founding the punk band The Dictators) the group is known for lyrics based on fantasy (particularly sword and sorcery) and mythology (particularly Norse mythology).
Fighting the World is the fifth album released by Manowar on 1987. and on it today’s song. The famous “Carry on”! I’m not the biggest Heavy Metal fans, but I like it when the time is right. The first time I heard this song we were in a car to a friends party, and it was glorious! We were drinking (except the driver of course!!!) and singing, and I loved this song as soon as I heard it!
I hope you feel the same, and if not to you I say “Forever carry on“! That’s it for today's ;) if you liked it be sure to check out the rest of Drop for more Games, Movies and Music! See ya!
EX Machina (2015)
Hello everyone, I haven’t posted much in the last weeks cuz I was busy looking for a new place and working a lot. But now everything (almost) is back to normal. So I’m back for Movie Drop #49! Aaaand we’re back to Sci-Fi, with a real good one that came out last year. Ex Machina. Written and directed by Alex Garland, he wrote 28 Days Later, Dredd, and the cool Sunshine we had in Movie Drop #48.
Before I tell you about the story, I want to speak about the title: You might know “Deux Ex machina“, it’s latin for "god from the machine". Nowadays, it's used to define a character or thing that suddenly enters the story in a novel, play, movie, etc., and solves a problem that had previously seemed impossible to solve. But If we remove the “Deus“ “we’re left with ”Ex Machina“, “out of the Machine“. This is actually what the movie is about, machines, AIs. Caleb, a young programmer is selected to participate in a ground-breaking experiment . He has to evaluate breath-taking humanoid A.I. called Ava, built by Nathan, the reclusive CEO of the world's largest internet company. I will stop here about the story because at this point I think, you have enough to just want to watch the movie. I will ad the fact that Ava is without doubt one of last year's most stunning creations in both a CGI sense and characterization sense.
Little fact to finish: The three main characters all have appropriate biblical names. Ava is a form of Eve, the first woman; Nathan was a prophet in the court of David; and Caleb was a spy sent by Moses to evaluate the Promised Land.

King of The Road - Roger Miller
I thought that I was the only one that would enjoy a few country songs here and there, like coming from work or sitting in the sun, drinking. I newly discovered that one of my friends felt the same, so that pushed me to make this post about one of my favorite country song. Like I said in Movie Drop #48 Spring is here! Let’s put some Country spirit in here!
First a few words about the Man, Roger Miller: Born in Fort Worth Texas in 1936 Roger Dean Miller began his musical career as a songwriter in the late 1950s, he later began a recording career and reached the peak of his fame in the mid-1960s. Although he is usually grouped with country music singers, Miller's unique style defies easy classification. Miller was a lifelong cigarette smoker, that was what killed him in the end. He died of lung and throat cancer in 1992, at age 56. “King of the road” was written and recorded in 1964. The song tell of the day-to-day life of a vagabond hobo who despite being poor, describing himself humorously as the "king of the road". The song has been covered by many other artists, including George Jones, Dean Martin, Jack Jones, James Booker, Boney M., R.E.M. and much mooore! Featured in a lots of movies like Brokeback Mountain, Into the Wild, or Wim Wenders' 1976 film Im Lauf der Zeit.
Funny fact: In 1965 country music singer Jody Miller (no relation) answered "King of the Road" with "Queen of the House". The song used Roger Miller's music while changing the lyrics to describe the day-to-day life of a stay-at-home mom.
That’s it for this Country Drop with this beautiful song, hope you like it. I’ll see you soon for more cool stuff ;) If you liked this short review, to come back every week for more Drop stuff, about Movies, Games and Music.
Sunshine - 2007
Sup' Guys?So the sun’s back, Spring is settling in. That’s why I wanted to stay on the “sun subject” and present you yet another cool Sci-Fi space movie. Let’s roll for Movie Drop #48!
You guys probably know Danny Boyle for Trainspotting or 28 Days Later. well this British Director also directed today's movie, Sunshine, from 2007. Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days later, Dredd) wrote this film and tells us the story of a crew of international astronauts who in 2057 are on a “one way ticket mission“ to reignite our dying sun with a nuclear fission bomb. It’s the second team sent on this mission because the first one failed and nobody seems to know why. I don’t need to tell you that the second mission encounters a lot of problems themselves.
Aside from a few scientific inaccuracies, and the fact that our sun is not going to change or die in the next 1.2 Billion years, -so the time when all humans already eradicated themselves from the face of the earth- Sunshine like Europa Report are really good space movies since the late 90s.
I really liked it, I loved the idea (even if it was set in a bit too near future) it’s something else than colonizing Mars or flying in other galaxies. The actors playing is real good, so if you’re in need of a good Sci-Fi this one’s for you!
Few facts for you guys: - Danny Boyle found working on a sci-fi project so exhausting, he vowed never to make another one again. - The actors all had to live together in order to create a palpable feeling onscreen that they all knew each other. - One of the biggest challenges facing the visual effects team was to create the sun itself. This was done with CGI and turned out to be the longest CGI sequencing ever done by a London production house.

Count Five - Psychotic Reaction
Hello People, I am supa dupa proud to announce that Drop is now one year old!!!! In that time more than 100 post have been posted here! All that makes me proud and happy. Let’s start this second Drop year with an awesome Garage Rock song on Music Drop #47!
So we’re now in the 60′s, in San Jose California. Where John "Mouse" Michalski (Guitar) and Roy Chaney (Bass), who were high school friends, formed the band Squires (Now known as Count Five). The two friends recruited John "Sean" Byrne (Guitar and vocals), Kenn Ellner (Tambourine and Harmonica) and Craig "Butch" Atkinson (Drums). Count Five where known for wearing Count Dracula-style capes when playing live. This cool gang at the time was just between the ages of 17 and 19, that’s pretty cool when you think the success they had at the time! By 1969, the Count Five had broken up, to pursue their college degrees.
The Count Five reunited only once, when they performed a concert in 1987 at a club in Santa Clara, California called "One Step Beyond".
“Sean” was sitting in a Health Education class in his freshman year learning about psychosis and neurosis. His friend Ron Lamb leaned over and whispered:
"You know what would be a great name for a song? Psychotic Reaction!"
That’s how this famous song was born.
Although the song was a hit with local audiences, record labels were not interested and the band endured months of failed auditions. But in 65, the song started to dominate radio playlists across the country. The song hit number five on the Billboard charts on September of that year.
Little fact: Psychotic Reaction can be heard on the season one finale of the HBO drama series "Vinyl".
This song is a perfect weekend song when hanging out with your best friends! Good rhythm and British rock influence make it a timeless piece of awesomeness!
And if you want more, we got loads of cool music, awesome movies, and thrilling video games!
Frequency - 2000
Hi people, for today’s movie Drop #47 I chose a cool mystery film, well it might appear as a bit of a classic present/future interaction thing, but it’s a real surprise, filled with well placed sentimentality and timely humor. John Sullivan a Thirty-six year old homicide detective, played by the awesome Jim Caviezel (The Count of Monte Cristo & Passion of the Christ) is the son of Frank Sullivan (Dennis Quaid) firefighter. John lost his father, in a warehouse fire when he was only 6 (that was in 1969). 30 years later, almost to the day, John finds Frank's old ham radio, which Frank used to use all the time to speak to people around the world. John decides to try it. The first person he makes contact with on the radio makes John ultimately come to the realization that he is speaking to his father who is using the exact same ham radio and sitting at the exact same desk in the exact same house exactly thirty years earlier! There the awesomeness begins, father and son work together to solve crimes through time. But both soon realize that playing with time can be a dangerous game with unforeseen consequences. When I first saw the preview for Frequency, I thought that the idea of a son talking to a his deceased father over a radio was original and interesting. I didn't think, however, that the film would be very good. I was wrong though. The movie is packed with action, mystery, twists, and emotion. The love between the father and son is so real, as are the characters themselves. Little fact: Dennis Quaid received 16 stitches just above his hairline after being injured in a stunt for this movie (which i´m not spoiling).
See you soon for more Games, Movies and Music on Drop!
Final Fantasy IX - 2000
Hi you guys! Lasehead is Back for Game Drop #11!
This is 2016, and I finally made it...Final Fantasy IX (FFIX )is finished now! I’ve played it at least 50 hours and, in my opinion, this is a nice long playtime from a PS game out of the year 2000. I am not really sure why I’ve waited so long to play FFIX , maybe because there are so many other great games to play. It is a shame, I know, BUT now it is played, and finished and everything is for the best!
FFIX was developed by Square and is a Japanese Role playing game (JRPG ) (of course if it is the number 9, there were 8 parts before) I´m really sure everybody of you gamers know this.
The 9th part of the series starts with a group of thieves who want to kidnap the princess of Alexandria, here you play as FFIX´s main character Zidane, a young guy with an apelike tail. Okay this doesn’t sounds like a mega story for a start but short time later FFIX finds the Gas pedal and evolved into a beautiful fairy-tale.
While I played it and had no spoilers so I won’t give you some, but I can say this: it’s a big world, lotsa kingdoms, wars, steam machines, drama, two planets, Friendship, all about meaning of life. All this together make in a pot that stirs around and makes a very good story. Trust me. I know it.
FFIX is a classical JRPG, and more than that, it is an homage to the roots of the series. You’ll have , white mage, black mage, red mage, blue mage, thief and warrior and play mostly in a quartet of your choice. The Fighting system is round based, you can use the Sword, magic or summon Bestias, fall in trance ( formerly known as Limit) and all this is based on active time battle ( ATB ).
The Magic abilities, which you can learn and use with your mages, are chained to weapons and clothes you have to wear it to learn. Okay it sounds boring, but if you know what you are doing, even you can use it really tactically and powerfully. What’s also good is, if you have problems and don´t understand stuff, push the select button in the Game menu and a friendly Mogry (this pig lookalike guys with batwings) tell you what you have to know.
Final Fantasy IX is a slow game with a middle to high encounter rate, but rather than being a problem it fits to a JRPG, like this and the kind of story which it will tells.
For me, FFIX is definitely under the three best Final Fantasies of all time, and their are a lot of them!!
Since this Year there’s a PC and Android remake and it looks super nice!
Thx Laserhead for this review and don’t forget ot check out the rest of Drop, We got stuff on cool music, Awesome movies, and Thrilling video games! See you soon for more!
