I did some great things in my 20s but I also wasted so much fucking time

My great grandpa was literally the first in the family born outside of slavery (just 2 years after it ended). My dad grew up in the same Mississippi country where generations of our family were enslaved. My dad was a child in the segregated south. I’m the first generation of biracial children in the family that wasn’t a result of rape done by a slave owner. My grandmother had said slave owner’s last name bc her grandfather was the product of that rape. My father is a dark skinned black man but I am only 43% black because of the slave owner blood in my father. My grandparents and their many kids lived on a rural farm in Mississippi, a place I visited as a child before my father abandoned us to move back to the south from NY. My life has been directly impacted by the generational trauma.
