Of times in your life and I won't judge itâ
Last night, you were on the phone with Regina and something seemed off so you gave her a video call. You were right, because she told you something had happened between her and her Mom. Which unfortunately wasnât unusual, but so infuriating because you knew what happened. It was usually one of three thingsâ what she ate, what she wore or her grades. Of course, those were the mainâŚquote-unquote, problems. There were always more issues in Juneâs opinion than meets the eye.Â
âDo you wanna talk about it?âÂ
She looks at you, then away, fiddling with the hem of her shirt.Â
âRegina.â You insisted.
âNo, I donât. Not now, and not over a FaceTime call.âÂ
âOkay.â You agreed, âLet me know when youâre ready. If you want to, Iâll come over, or I can pick you up.âÂ
âNot tonight, I justâ I just need to sleep this one off. Iâll see you tomorrow, okay?âÂ
The lack of a nickname addressing you at the end? This was one of her tells that she really wasnât in the mood, or had the energy to talk. She needed alone time, to calm down and get rest. So you let her off the hookâ you said good night to her and hung up. âGood night, I love you.â You said, smiling softly. She forced a smile, âNight.â
âSee you tomorrow. Iâll pick you up at 7:15.âÂ
You were expecting school to be a little rough, and you were right. She was expecting the same too. âG, why do you always get cheese fries? The other options are not all bad.â
âJust not feeling those options, Gretch.âÂ
Well, it was a genuine question. The school food was great here compared to what you had at your old school.Â
âOkay.â Gretchen stopped asking and went back to chatting with Karen. Meanwhile, Reginaâs brows were knit together. She seemed to be thinking, but then alsoâŚstarted to seem like she was in distress. âRegina.â You said quietly, looking at her.
She took a deep breath, âIâm fine.â You didnât buy it, she was already in a bit of aâŚbad mood after yesterday. Every little interaction like that, it only seemed to push her closer and closer to a breakdown. âIâll be okay, y/n.â She insisted, âI got this.â No one else at the table noticed. Not Karen, not GretchenâŚjust you. Her voice was quivering, her eyesâ shifty, and glossy. She wasnât okay. âDo you wanna go home?â
âHome?â She bites back a scoff, âNo, thanks.â
âTo mine?â You clarified.
âNo.â Regina shook her head, she went back to eating her food. You couldnât help it but keep an eye on her. Why was it so damn hard for her to accept any help? To open up? To you of all people?
After lunch, there were three more classes left. You didnât have the last two with her so you couldnât exactly make sure she was alright. You could only hope.Â
âIâll meet you at your locker after the last bell. okay?â You pecked her cheek.
âOkay, baby.â She smiles softly, then evidently biting the inside of her cheek before she turned to leave. You usually had no problem being away from her but when things got tough, you hated that. You would spend all day, everyday with her if you could. âHey.â You hear Regina behind you as she tapped your shoulder. Turning around to face her, your greet, âHi. Letâs go?â
She nodded silently as then took her hand in yours and walked out of school with her. Regina sits in the front with you, like she always does. Except she was just sitting there and staring into spaceâ another bad thing. You had to get her out of that god awful place in her mind.
âRegina, you know this. We gotta talk about it.â
âWhatâs there that you donât already know?â She asked, defeated.
You shut your bedroom door, gesturing for Regina to sit down. She does, letting out a sigh as she looked up at you. Her gaze follows you as you moved towards her and sat down in the spot beside her. âIâll be fine, you know. Always happens, I just need to deal with it until it blows over.â
âWhat happened, Reg?â
She wanted to scoff but bit back, âWell, you know my mom.â
Of course.
âItâs the same thing, every time, y/n.â Regina replied through gritted teeth, the annoyance within her bubbling up to the surface. âEverytime. âRegina, maybe you shouldnât wear that. Itâs too tight, it doesnât look good.â, âRegina, leave the cupcakes alone. Youâve had enough food for the day. We gotta watch what we eatâ, âRegina, have you worked out today?â I am so sick of it.â
You gazed into her eyes as she revealed all of that and more to you. âSheâs been like this my whole life. Why am I still not used to it? Why am I still listening to what she says? I know itâs no good for me, but I justâ I canât stop thinking about what sheâs been feeding my mind for the last eighteen years.â
You grabbed her hands and held them in yours, giving them a squeeze. Tears were starting to fall from her eyesâŚshe was blinking profusely, trying to get rid of them, flustered. âItâs okay.â You assured.Â
She shook her head, sniffling.
âRegina.â You repeated, âItâs okay. Let it out. All of it.âÂ
âWhen I was a kid, she used to make me finish my plate no matter what.â Regina exhaled shakily, âThen when I got older, I listened to my body, you know? I stopped eating when I was full but sheâd tell me I was wasting food if I threw out what was left on my plate. I didnât want her to get mad, so as pissed as I was, I finished my plate. I was pretty active, so it didnât really affect me. Middle school, puberty happened. My body changed.âÂ
Wiping away her tears quickly, she continued, âAnd I always held more weight somehow. Well then, you know what. My eating habits got bad and Iâd go days at a time without eating. Then it was the opposite. Now Iâve just been trying to heal from all of that but sheâs been making it hell for me and sometimes I cannot do anything but feel like shit for a few days then get back to normal. Weâve been together almost a year, weâre off to college next year. Weâre going to be adults but Iâm still plagued by childhood problems. Itâs ridiculous.âÂ
âItâs not ridiculous.â You told her, leaning down to catch her gaze, âItâs not. Youâve been putting in a lot of effort to get better and anyone would be stupid to not see that.â
âReally?â She scoffs, âEven when I have days where I literally do nothing but cry about what sheâs told me years ago, or do even worse things, because of her?âÂ
âYeah. Even then. It takes a lot of strength and courage to push through all that, and pick yourself back up. Which you do, every single time no matter how hard it gets.âÂ
Her frame seemed less tense by the time she stopped talking. With your thumb brushing over her knuckles, you said, âRegina, I need you to remember that Iâll always be here for you. Not just for the good things, for anything. Tough, sad, infuriating. Anything at all. You are not alone. Iâm your partner.âÂ
She looks at you, tears welling up in her eyes again.
âI know itâs hard, I know why so you donât have to keep explaining yourself. And I know it seems like Iâm offering nothing but companionship. But thatâs sort of what a partner is. Iâm here, to keep you company. No matter what life throws at you.âÂ
Another deep sigh falls from her lips before she goes, âThank you.âÂ
âI love you.â
A pink hue tinted her tear-stain cheek as she tried to hide a smile. âI love you so much.â You added on.
âI love you too.â She squeezed your hand in return.
âAnd you know Iâd do anything for you.â You smiled while your hand rested on her thigh.
ââââ
Regina tensed up slightly at that touch. A harsh exhale was heard from her as you smirked to yourself. âAnythingâŚâ Your finger traced her pale skin. You looked up, meeting her eyes once again. Regina had that look, she wanted this. She wanted you. âTo prove it.âÂ
âDo you want me to make you feel good, hm?â Your hand relocated onto her cheek, cupping her face. Like a switch has flipped, she immediately gave in to the temptation and nodded eagerly. Her eyes closed and you leaned in to capture her lips into your own. Fleeting kisses were swiftly followed by longer kissesâŚones of desire. A whine slips from her mouth in the midst, sending a rush of heat that pooled between your own thighs. Youâd back her up against the headboard, she sat with her legs naturally spread open while you straddled her, your knees on either side of her hips. You hands were grabbing her face, lips having never left hers since they latched on several minutes prior.
Regina whimpers this time. You chuckled, âYou want more?â It was a little amusing to see her reduced to nothing but meek little noises when under your control. You loved it though, having slightly more dominance over her than typical. And well? She loves being beneath you, thatâs for sure. Her head rolls back on reflex, inviting you to work her neck over. And expectedly, when youâve hit a certain little spot, youâve earned your first moan. Smiling to yourself, you continued your action until she got louder and squirmier. âFuck.â She cursed.Â
Your hand moves down south, grabbing a handful of her breast without having to look. Regina panted, the air right by your ear tickled you and sent a shiver down your spine.Â
âTake it off.â She grumbled.
âAs you wish, baby.â You smirked, reaching back underneath her shirt and unclipping her bra before you detach yourself from her and removed her shirt then got the bra out of the way. Your lips resume its work along her neck, your fingers play with her tit on one hand. You tug on the teat, and she gives you a pretty high pitched moan. âDoes that feel good, honey?â
âYeahââ She says, you didnât even let her finish that word before you pinched that hardening tip between your fingers. âShit.â You climb off her, pulling her pants down on the way after getting a hurried nod of approval from her. Settling yourself down between her legs on the mattress, you wasted no time and ran your tongue up and down her slit. Already, she was breathing heavily and you saw her groping her own tits for more stimulation.
âDonât be shy, now.â You chuckled, thumb moving to rub her clit at the same time your mouth worked. Regina flinches, a muffled noise comes from her. âDonât hold back, Regina.â Your free hand massaged her thigh, âI want to hear you, baby. I wanna hear how good Iâm making you feel.âÂ
The strokes of your tongue quickened, becoming firmer and more purposeful. Your hand on her clit then shifts and you instead slide two fingers inside her. Regina gasps, and flinches. Her leg moves out of position slightly but it remained that way, her body gradually getting overcome by increasing pleasure. You two digits pumped in and out of her at a leisurely but consistent pace, making sure you hit her g-spot everytime. That, sends a shock through her body without fail, making her head spin in pleasure. You feel her fingers combing through your hair roughly, keeping your head in place. Your brows were raised briefly but you carried on, âFuck, right thereâ right thereââ Regina whimpered, strained. âDonât stopââ
âMmkay, baby.â You hummed, keeping at this exact pace and place for awhile. You feel her wetness on your chin, but you couldnât care less. You were lost in the moment, feeling her writhing beneath you, hearing her making all those noises for you. You were drawn to her like moths to a flame, your only priority now was making her feel good and making her come, worshipping this beautiful body of hers. Worshipping every single inch of her.
âYouâre so beautiful.â Your mouth and fingers left her entirely, then you clambered back up to meet her face. âYouâre my beautiful girl, arenât you, Regina?â Brushing her cheek, you gave her a smile as you broke away from the kiss. You pulled her down carefully so she now laid on her back, you reattach your lips to the spot on her neck and started to kiss your way downwardsâŚcovering every bit of her exposed skin with a smooch. âFuckââ She whined, âFâI need you, I need you. y/nââ
âAnswer the question, Regina.â You smirked, fondling her tits while hovering over her. She kept quiet so you grabbed at the flesh harder, forcing the lewd noises out of her mouth, followed by impatient nods, âYâyesâ yesâ oh, fuckââ
âIâll be right back.â Kissing her once more, you got off her and then the bed.
âBaby, come on.â She grumbled.
âJust getting the strap, babe.â You winked, âBe patient~â
Regina exhales exasperatedly, looking at you while you walk to your closet and put on the harness behind its door. Youâve gotten her all hot and bothered already and you were absolutely enjoying yourself at this moment. âOpen up, baby.â You tapped her thigh and she did as you told her to. Dragging the tip of the shaft along her throbbing cunt, the whining and whimpering from her resumes. âAw.â You teased, âAre you ready, darling?â
âYesâ yesâ oh my GodâŚâ She swallowed thickly, nodding her head while she kept looking at you. She knew you would ask for eye contact, so she did it first.Â
âPlease, do it, please.â Regina pleaded desperately.Â
âOh, good girl.â You smiled cheekily, lining up the tip of the shaft with her entrance. You were swift, pushing into her before she could say anything. All you heard was a low moan when you entered her and gradually bottomed out. âYou okay, baby?â
âYeah, yeah, I am.â She replied in a whisper, unintentionally whimpering at the end. You retracted and pushed into her more forcefully, a whimper just erupts from her throat like that. Hearing her just spurs you on, you went faster and faster, plus her noises matched up with your movements. It quite literally feels as though you were ascending into a whole new dimension. The noise of both your skin hitting each otherâs, combined with the wetness? Whatever it was, it was obscene and had you weak in the knees. But, you persisted. Your hand was on her knee, pushing that leg of hers up as you continued railing to her. She was babblingâŚcurse words, your name, incoherent noises. Goddamn. Her mind was one clouded mess, miles away by now.Â
When Reginaâs back arched off the mattress, she exclaimed, âOh, fuck!â
You looked at her, slightly worried, âYou okay? Do you want me to stop?â
âNo, no, no, no, no, no.â She gasped, âDonâtâ donât stop. That feels so fucking good, baby. Keep goingâ Iâm so closeâ so closeââ
âAlright~â You smiled, relieved and eager, âDonât hold back, Regina.â You resumed your consistent motion of impaling her, watching her face contort, watching her eyes roll to the back of her head. âFuck, fuck, fuckâŚâ She babbled in a daze. âLet it all go, Reg. Let it all go.âÂ
âGod, youâre insaneâŚâ She panted, breathless.
âYouâre the one gushing now and Iâm barely doing anything anymore.â You retorted.
âGod, keep going.â
âWhat?â
âI want more, keep going.â Her voice was airy, soft. âKeep going?â
You nodded, giving her what she wanted and completely disregarding the state of your sheets. âOh, youâre so hot, baby.âÂ
âFuckâs sake.â Regina chewed on her lower lip, âIâ I need your mouthâ God, fuckââ
Once again, you went along with her happily, pulling out of her then promptly diving back into her cunt, tasting every last drop of her. And yet, she just kept spilling into your mouth. At this point? You couldnât care less if you drowned. âDamn.â You chuckled, âHow far can you go?â
âPush me.â She ordered.
âWell, since you askedâŚâ You shoved your fingers back inside her, assaulting her sensitive spot while lapping her up without complaints.Â
Somehow, her pitch got higher, making you giddy. You feel her tightening around your fingers rapidly, and you kept going to push her over the edge again. She came, and she came hard. She even backed away a little, so you immediately stopped. That was it, she didnât want more and you knew. Itâd been discussedâ if she backs away like that, youâd stopped.
With a tentative hand on her thigh, you shushed her, trying to help her find her breath again. âYouâre okay, I got you. Youâre okay.âÂ
She nodded, âI know, I know. Ohâ my God, I love you.â Hiding her face in her hands to hide the blushing, you brushed her hands away when you crawled back up to lay down next to her. âLook at me.â You held her face in your hand, pressing a soft kiss to her lips. She does, and you continue, âI love you. sometimes your mindâs gonna try to convince you otherwiseâŚbut, I really, really do. I love you so fucking much and I never want you to forget that.âÂ
âAfter all of that? I wonât ever be able to get you out of my mind.â She jokes, her usual smirk on her face.
âI mean it. I love everything about you, every little bit of you. Just like you do me. You are perfect the way you are.âÂ
Regina kisses you back, snuggling closer to you. âI know you do, and I promise. No more of that âkeeping things to myselfâ next timeâŚIâll try my best to talk about it, with you, or with a therapist.â
âAnd if you ever need to get away from your house, please donât hesitate to come over to my place. Please. Come over here yourself, or call me, or text me. Anything.âÂ
âRoger that.â She smiled just slightly, which turned into a smirk. âAlso, you are freakishly good at whatever that was. Never came this hard in my life.â
âWell, you also did more than that, butâŚanything for you, eh?â Your fingers traced along her arm. Regina chuckles, âOh, Iâm just as shocked as you are. Sorry about the mess.âÂ
âIâm not sorry, Reg. Theyâre just sheets.â You laughed, rubbing her back. âYou wanna take a shower? Freshen up?â
âThat sounds nice, sure.âÂ
âAlright.â You got up first, then pulled her up, âLetâs go.â She smacks you on the ass while you walk ahead of her, entering the ensuite bathroom first. You gasped, âRegina.âÂ
âI think, itâs only fair that you get your turn too now.â She whispers into your ear, sending a chill down your back. âDo you want that, baby girl?â

In which reader tries to understand, but ends up sending herself into a full on mental breakdown
You werenât sure when everything changed, but they did and it has never been the same since then. Your sisterâs been faking, faking it all the time with you. Faking that she was okay when she wasnât. You knew that, so you tried to help her whenever and however you could. She appreciates it, you knew that. She made sure you knew it. But every time you look at her, your heart hurts. Regina was struggling, now worse than ever. But two weeks ago, you couldnât take it and talked to her. You actually sat her down alone and talked to her about it. Then it became begging. You broke down and begged her to get help. It was something you wouldnât have done if you hadnât seen her show signs of wanting to get help and get better in the first place. Things got better at first, then it took a huge dip. Thatâs when you talked to her.
For whatever reason, Regina agreed to get help. And ever since that day when she got dropped off at the hospital, you were reduced to seeing her three times a week at most. Which was a very big change compared to being able to see her everyday. Sitting in her Jeep after pulling into the driveway, you shut your eyes while you took some deep breaths. Ever since you saw her today in the hospital, your mood took a turn. While you were happy to see her, and she was more than happy to see you, having to see Regina in the hospital broke your heart every time you came by. Countless questions swam through your head after each visit. Why would she do that to herself? She knew it could literally cost her her life. She knew that, sheâs told you that. But time and time again, she relapses. She doesnât mean to, you knew that. That was why you spoke up and told her to get help. You werenât going to risk losing your best friend.
Turning the engine off, you scrambled into the house, your mind racing as you rushed upstairs to your bedroom. The door opens with a slam, your bag falls at the foot of your bed with a thud. In a hurry, you found yourself in the bathroom, staring at the toilet. Were you about to do that? You werenât thinking straight if at all, but one thing you knew for sure was that you had to understand why she did so. That was the main voice in your mind, urging you toâŚunderstand. You locked the bathroom door gingerly, kneeling before the toilet. You retched, the feeling was awful. Nothing came up, but It shocked you to the point where you just started to hyperventilate and cry as you fall onto your ass and sat on the marble floors. âWhyâd you do that, y/n? You shouldnât have. You shouldnât haveââ
You couldnât even begin to imagine how painful this was for your sister, this was barely anything at all. After some time, you fished your phone out from your pocket. You were barely calming down and you needed Janis. You didnât care how you were claiming youâve been doing okay anymore, because you werenât. This thing, showed it clearly to you. You needed someone.
âJanisââ Your breath hitched, âJan, can you come over please?â
She didnât even have the chance to reply.
âPlease, I need you, please.â You were crying again.
Your phone falls from your hand after you heard the dial tone, you zoned out feeling absolute shame and disgust by your own decision to even think about doing that in the first place. You knew what you had to doâ you had to let Dr. Cree know, you needed to squeeze in another session with your therapist this week on top of your usual two. But right now, you couldnât even move. And you didnât. You didnât move until you heard knocks on your bathroom door which jolted you out of your thoughts. âBaby, itâs me.â Janis says. You sniffed, standing up unsteadily to unlock the door. She opens it a crack and you move out of the way so she could fully open the door. Seeing how distraught you were, she envelopes you in a hug instantly, rubbing your back in a soothing motion. âHey, hey itâs okay. I have you, baby. I have you.â
You cried buckets as she held you in her arms without question.
Eventually, you and Janis sat in your bed and you started to explain all that went down before you called her to come over. âIâŚam texting my therapist now to get another session scheduled so I can dissect this and figure it out.â
âThatâs good, baby.â She held your face in her hand, pressing a kiss to your lips before you snuggled up against her. âItâs a very difficult thing youâve had to deal with, pretty much being the main person looking out for Regina. You have done a damn good job making sure she was being taken care of, you know? You stepped up, you shouldnât have to, but you did. Because you love your sister, and believe me when I say this: Things will get better eventually. Itâs a whole process and it might seem like itâs taking forever, but Regina is so fucking strong, she knows thereâs more to life than what sheâs struggling with.â
âThank you.â You wrap your arms around her, âIâ I know that, but sometimes I really just need to hear it. So, yeahâ thank you.â You ended up fully laying on Janis, your legs kind of straddling her while your head rested on her chest. She kisses the crown of your head, âDo you want anything? Takeout? Itâs dinnertime soon.â
âSure.â You hummed, getting increasingly sleepy in her presence, âNot sure what I want though.â
âThatâs okay, leave that to me.â She chuckles, looking down at you in adoration, âWanna nap?â
You nodded, âMm, yeah.â
âOkay, close your eyes, honey. Rest up.â She gives you another kiss on the head, running her fingers through your hair and scratching your scalpâ very effectively coaxing you to sleep. Once you fell asleep, Janis was looking through the food delivery app on her phone to decide what to order in for dinner. She knew for sure that June wasnât going to be home tonight.
ââââ
âItâs not unheard of for caregivers to imitateâ for the lack of better words, the affected personâs behaviour, oftentimes coming from a point where they wish to understand the reasoning or the feeling. However, unlike them, you, the caregiver know that it is wrong. Though both you and your sister are both seeking help from mental health professionals, itâs for very different reasons. She is mentally ill because of her anorexia, her bulimia. You, like we both know, are seeing me to deal with anxiety. Theyâre very different, rather tough in their own ways but equally valid to be seeking help for. In fact, itâs right toâ itâs beneficial to get help. It is difficult to get to the first step, to ask for help. But youâve done it, and so has she. You guys are both on the right tracks.â
âI had a completely justâ worst panic attack of my life after it hit me what I was doing. I called Janis, she came over and then I managed to come down from it pretty quickly. But I just thought it was the right thing to do to get another session with you so I could work through the complexity of it all.â
âYou did the right thing talking to me about it. Knowing you need to talk and when you need to talk is amazing. You have improved a lot, y/n.â
You nodded, giving her an appreciative smile.
âYour decision to cut down on the number of visits to your sister, I think it will be good for you. Youâre not responsible for caring for her like you had to prior to her hospitalisation. You have to lead your own life too, y/n.â
âI hear you. Itâll take a bit of time and willpower to get used to, but Iâll try my best.â
She nodded, âIs there anything else youâd like to talk about?â
âActually, uh, yeah. Last night, I had sex for the first timeâ ever. And it wasâŚgreat but then when the sobriety hit me, so did the guilt.â
âWhy do you think you felt the guilt?â
You chewed the inside of your cheek, picking at your nails, âI guessâŚbecause my mom and dad have always told me sex was not a âgoodâ thing. That I should never do anything until I was married.â
âDid you both consent?â
âYes.â You nodded, staring at your nails instead of keeping eye contact with your therapist.
âDid you feel listened to? Seen? Or instead pressured in any wayâ for anything?â
âNo. Janis was great, she really talked to me before we even did anything to make sure boundaries were set for both of us. Everything went really well, it was just the after that I started to freak out becauseââ
âBecause?â She prompted.
ââŚBecause I couldnât let go of my parentsâ opinion and live my life the way I want to.â You let that out. âIt scares me that they are so strict about that. A part of me understands they probably just want to keep me safe, but I do feel so safe and loved by Janis. So I said yes. Actually, I initiated the thing. I asked if we could do it. Then after everything, she took care of me. You know? I felt good, it was better than I couldâve ever imagined it to be.â
âAnd that is absolutely fine. Itâs great. But yes. Sex can be intense, it is intimate and it may seem daunting, but like you saidâ you were safe, and listened to and cared for. Thatâs all you need to focus on instead of someone elseâs. Itâs your life, you deserve the freedom as you see fit. You know how to speak up for yourself, y/n. You have the tools, the courage, the capability to deal with that and any moments where you feel low. But as always, you have to also remember that you can always contact me.â
âI do.â You chuckled, âYeah I do.â
âI think this a good place to close todayâs session, isnât it?â
âYep.â You agreed, âThanks, Haley.â
âOf course. Iâll see you Friday?â
âYou will.â You confirmed, âJanis is coming with me.â
âAh, then I look forward to finally meeting her. Take care, y/n.â
You left the office feeling as if a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders, and with much more clarity on just about everything. You drove home, took a shower and made yourself dinner. You hopped on a FaceTime call with Janis in the meantime.
âHow was your session today?â
âVery good.â You told her while stirring the pasta in the pan. âReally, I talked about everything I needed and wanted to talk about, worked through them. Didnât cryâ which is another huge thing. She smiled, âIâm glad to hear that, baby. What ya making?â
âPasta.â You answered happily. She gasps dramatically, âCan I come over?â
âYou want to? Sure.â You nodded, grinning.
âCarbonara?â
âYeah.â You couldnât help it but chuckled.
âWith Bacon Spam instead of bacon?â She asks eagerly.
âMhm.â
âIâm on my way. My mom and dad arenât home right now anyway- business trip.â Janis decided.
âAlrighty, see you soon.â
She stayed on the call the whole way over. Literally, right until she was on your front porch.
You opened the door and she just tackles you into a hug. âMissed me?â You joked.
âOf course.â She nearly snorted laughing.
âOh yeah?â You continued.
âYeah.â She nodded, grinning mischievously. You knew what was comingâ she was going to kiss you all over your face. And she did, you giggled, as always. So she just does it more, all while clinging onto you. âHi, cutie.â
âRight on time.â You grinned, âIâve just plated the pasta. You want garlic bread?â
âOnly if you add some cheese.â Janis shrugs.
âWeâre both lactose tolerant.â You stated.
âItâs okay, we have a half day tomorrow.â
âI thought youâd be with Damian.â You told her while taking out a roll of garlic bread from the freezer and the bag of shredded cheddar and parmesan mix. You put them on a tray and popped it into the oven.
âWell, heâs on a date, so is everyone else we know.â Janis pulled out a chair for you, you sat down then she does the same opposite of you.
âEveryone?â You asked back. âUs too?â
âI know youâre joking, but I can be pretty romantic, y/n.â
âOh I have no doubt about that, babe.â
She wasnât kiddingâ she lit candles and dimmed the lights while you tried to start eating your food.
âSee? Any night can be date night.â
âThis is nice.â Your lips tug into a smile. She smiles back then dug into food.
After dinner, you and Janis decided to bake some cookies while jamming out to both your favourite songs. âChocolate chips?â Janis asked, peeking into the pantry.
âDark and white chocolate.â You nod.
âOoh, okay. Are we gonna make both?â
âJust dark chocolate chip cookies, but Iâll be adding a bit of white chocolate chips into the dough. Iâm going to see Regina tomorrow so I thought Iâd bring by a few for herâ itâs her favourite. We used to bake a batch every weekend.â
âAw.â Janis set down the two bags on the counter, âI think sheâd really like that.â
You smiled, grabbing ahold of the measuring cup, âWill it be bad if I want you to stay over?â
âWhy would that be bad? We can just get up a little earlier so I grab my bag on our way to school tomorrow. I donât live that far away.â She squints.
âI justâ donât wanna seemâŚclingy.â
âOh, no, no, no. You can cling onto me as much as youâd like. I love holding you.â Janis took the cup from the kitchen scale and dumped the flour in a big mixing bowl.
You pondered for a few seconds, taking a deep breath, âI uh, I still have these moments sometimes, thatâs not good, you know? Talking about myself like that.â
âYou got this, donât worry about any of that when youâre with me. We can talk about anythingâ we always do.â
ââââ
After school the next day, Janis drove you to the hospital as planned last night. While you walked into Reginaâs hospital room, Janis sat in a plastic chair outside in the hallway after smooching you on the cheek. You also had to check with Reginaâs nurse to see if she could have any outside foodâ she was allowed, so that was great.
âHey, baby.â Regina looks up from her book in hand, setting it down as she locked eyes with you. She was in a good mood.
âHi, Reg.â You mirrored her smile, âI brought you a new book, and some cookiesâ your favourite.â
âAw.â She says, reaching out to grab your hand, âYou didnât have to.â
âI wanted to, itâs fine.â You chuckled, your eyes then noticing this paper chain hanging behind your sister on the wall.
âThat is a little project one of my nurses had me do.â She realises, âIâve been here twenty-two days now, so each loop represents one dayâ yellow means it was a good day, no restriction, no purging, orange means things were a little tough but nothing happened, and pink is theâŚworst case scenario.â
More than half the paper loops on the chain were yellow and orange. You were proud of how much better she seemed to be doing already.
âHow was the book I brought you last time?â You asked.
âIâm nearly at the end of the book already, not much to do around here. So Iâm very happy you brought me another one.â She shrugs, âCould you hand me the Tupperware?â
You took the Tupperware from the table you had set it down on, and gave it to her. She opened the lid and took a cookie out to eat it, âYou want one?â
âSure.â You nod, taking one for yourself as well.
âDid you give these to my nurses too?â
âNo, I got them prepackaged snacks, I wasnât sure if they could accept homemade food or anything.â
âRight.â Regina laughed lightly, taking a bite of the cookie as she set the container down on her bed, âWait, youâve been seeing Haley, right?â
âYeah, I have.â You confirmed, âAnd I also decided that Iâm going to come by a little less frequently.â
âAbsolutely, you gotta do your own things too.â Regina agreed. âI would very much rather have you be busy with things that you like to do than come here too often. The environment can be a little intimidating and depressing not gonna lie. Itâs also a hotbed for bacteria and infections, soâ please donât get sick.â
âI hear ya, Reg.â You chuckled over your words.
âIs that Janis outside?â Regina squints.
âYeah. She drove me here but wasnât sure if youâd want her in here.â
âShe can come in if she wants, would be nice to see faces I actually know rather than a bunch of people who Iâve never even met before my stay here.â
âIâll call her in.â You nod, shrugging before you got up from the plastic chair and got Janis to join you and Regina.
âHey.â Janis waved.
âHi.â Regina gave your girlfriend a tight-lipped smile, âHowâve you been?â
âIâve been pretty good. Having a lot of fun with your sister playing house. Howâs therapy?â
âJanis!â You chided in a whisper.
Regina laughs though, âActually, Iâve never been better. Sure my sessions went from one to like, three a week but that means I have ample time to work on myself. Iâve been struggling with all of it for so long, Iâm actually justâŚrelieved to be starting to get free from the claws of that horrible disorder. I want to get better, I know I am getting better but my main worry now is my âbad daysâ. I donât want that, Iâm not even thinking about that and sometimes they creep up on me and I donât even realise.â
âLike you said, you are getting better. Which only means youâll only improve more and more from this point.â Janis quipped.
Regina smiled appreciatively, âThanks, I appreciate that. And for keeping my sister sane.â
You snorted, âSane? She drives me insane.â
Janisâ mouth hung open, âWhat?â
âI donât need to know that part. But, umâ okay, good for you.â
âThe first thing that comes to your mind is, that?â Janis teased.
âThereâs no shame in that, come on.â Regina laughed heartily.
After a bit, you and Janis head home. Taking a shower, you decided you wanted to nap, so thatâs what you did. Janis sat next to you, watching TV while you drifted off to dreamland feeling the soothing motions of Janisâ hand running up and down your back.
When you woke up, Janis was asleep next to you, laying on her stomach but faced towards you. You couldnât help but smiled at the sight, pressing a kiss to her cheek before you got out of bed to see what you could make for dinner.
The decision? Spam Musubi. Low-effort, and doesnât take long to make. So you were pretty sure youâd be done before Janis woke up. Plus, sheâd get a little taste of home.In fact, you wound up having more than enough time to spare so you tried out a new cookie recipe that you were going to make for Regina at the next visit. You decided that every visit, youâd bring her a new flavour of cookie and a new book, just to keep things fresh. You knew sheâd appreciate it.
Her hard work paid off. Over six months later, Regina was finally allowed to come home and continue her treatment outpatient. Your mom actually picked her up from there and drove her home. That surprised you because you werenât so sure if you saw her do anything more than pay for the bills and expenses thus far. While they were on their way home, you and Janis made lunch. The rest of the group hung around and decorated the place before she got home.
You all hear a car pull into the driveway soon enough then the front door opens. âWeâre home!â June announced.
Regina saw you first, and quite literally fought to hug you first. It made you laugh, but you took the win. âHi, baby.â Regina hugs you tightly, pressing a kiss to your cheek, âItâs so good to be back home. Hi, guys. Thanks for doing this.â
âItâs nothing.â Gretchen beamed, âGood to have you closer to us again, G.â
Regina smiled back, giving the girl a hug. âSo nice to see you, Gretch.â
Everyone else got a hug too, and as surprised as they were by the affection, they could take it. They would take a surprising hug any day over a fainting spell.
âDid you make cookies?â Regina gasped.
âTake a look for yourself.â You poked her on the arm. She held onto your hand while you all headed over to the kitchen/dining area.
âHoly shit.â Regina chuckles tearily, âBaby, thisâ I love it. I fucking love it. Thank you.â
Her favourite cookie flavour, big enough for everyone to share and in the shape of a rose. A white roseâŚReginaâs favourite flower. A flower that also symbolises new beginnings. How fitting.
âOkay, letâs dig in.â Regina declared, âThey mustâve spent such a long time preparing all this. Guysâ the place looks amazing, so does the food. Thank you, I really appreciate you all for doing this and sticking by me.â

You were a plastic in a relationship with Janis Imi'ike. Of course, no one knew about it. Besides Damian. If Regina ever found out, she would socially kill you. Maybe physically too.
So all your time with Janis was spent in secret, behind closed doors.
Whenever you went to her place, you'd even go as far as to make sure your location was off. The two of you haven't even gone on a proper date. The risk of it was too high. Not that Janis or even you minded, the both of you loved your little home dates. Damian would sometimes play waiter for the two of you and set up a romantic dinner in Janis' kitchen. The gesture was sweet, but you couldn't help feeling amused every time he did it. Especially when he would use his dramatized French accent.
The day Cady joined the plastics was definitely... interesting, of course Janis had told you all about her plan to take Regina down from the inside. She would have asked you to do it but thought it might be too risky; which you understood. So Cady was the spy. Besides, Janis didnât want anything to happen to you in the crossfire. Though she would never be caught dead admitting that out loud.
The changes in Regina were subtle and none of you exactly noticed them at first as the three worked behind the scenes to bring her down. You had specifically requested to not have any part of it, they were fine with that. However, you did start to notice something going on with Cady. She had a different vibe around you that she didnât have for the other girls in the group. She was always asking something of you. Whether it was questions to math (that you didnât know the answers to, so you gave her fake answers to avoid giving her the awkward âI donât knowâ response), she would always sit next to you at the plastics table; and as if the time you spent at school together wasnât enough, she would constantly ask if you were busy after school. You always said yes. Truthfully, you usually were. If you werenât busy with Janis (which was half of the time, probably more) you were busy with family stuff. Life after school was genuinely busy for you, much to Cadyâs disappointment.
One morning, you were in French with Gretchen and Cady. The three of you always sat together, as much as you would rather be with Janis and Damian who were behind you. Cady sat on your right, seemingly confused with something as she nudged over her paper to you with a frown,â Hey. Y/N? Could you help me with this? I donât know what it means.â You didnât pick up on the fakeness in her tone.
With a sigh, you leaned over a little to get a better look at her sheet. You vaguely knew what the task was, though you werenât 100% sure; âI think itâs saying to name three well known French cities, then explain what made them famous.â Yeah, that sounded right.
âHere, let me check.â Gretchen took the paper, you missed the slight annoyance in Cadyâs eyes, and read it over in her head. Gretchen was pretty good with languages, at least from what youâd gathered. She looked at you with a smile,â Yeah! Thatâs basically the vibe.â
You nodded in thanks while Gretchen handed the paper back to Cady, who seemed reluctant almost to take it.
Janis had been watching the interaction, narrowing her eyes as she especially watched Cady and how she was behaving around you. Janis knew damn well that Cady knew what everything meant. What game was Cady playing at? Janis wasnât sure, but she knew she didnât like it. Whatever it was. She nudged Damian, who looked up from his phone.
âWhat?â
âDid you see that?â Janis asked, gesturing to the three.
Damian raised an eyebrow,â girl, what are you talking about?â
âCady and Y/N.â Janis muttered, she hadnât realized how tight the grip on her pencil was until she was accidentally snapping it in half. The sound of the snap brought her back to reality as she looked at it, then Cady, then Damian.
âOkay, in the words of Taylor Swift. You need to calm down. Iâm just gonna take thisâŚâ He not so subtly reached for the now broken pencil (that Janis was holding much like a little shank in each hand) and tucked them away into the desk. âPlus, this is Y/N. That girl is like a personified golden retriever. She wouldnât hurt you if the state of the world depended on it.â
âNo, I know.â Janis flexed her fingers a bit, having not realized just how tight her grip on that poor pencil had been. âIt isnât Y/N Iâm worried about.â
Janis would watch over the next week as Cadyâs behaviour with you only seemed to get worse. Until one day, when everyone was in the cafeteria. Janis saw Cady playing with your hair (you tried telling her to stop and she wouldnât listen) and she finally had enough.
She walked over to the plastics table.
You tensed a little when you saw her, wondering what she was going to do. Janis was unpredictable, which you loved about her but you also knew that meant she had a tendency to start trouble.
Regina noticed Janis and was visibly disgusted,â Ew. No. Why is it at our table?â
You wanted to glare at Regina for that comment, but you didnât. Remembering you had to act as though you didnât know who Janis was. You were a plastic, she was an art freak. But Janisâ gaze was on you and the look in her eyes was hard to ignore. The moment you tried to look away, Janis grabbed you by your chin (completely ignoring Reginaâs comment and the confusion in everyoneâs eyes) and kissed you.
Your eyes were wide, your body stilled for a moment as a gasp rang out throughout the cafeteria. Gretchen practically screamed.
Then, you kissed back. Standing from your table and pulling Janis flush against you.
Everything stood still.
In that moment, nothing mattered. Not your status, not the eyes of everyone, not the shock on Cadyâs face and not the pure disgust in Reginaâs eyes. You didnât care. You had Janis. Janis was all that mattered. All that you felt.
And thatâs the story of how you lost your social life. Did you care? Maybe part of you missed it. But you wouldnât change how things played out even if you could. You could openly be with Janis now. Even if the results of that were your only friends being Janis and Damian. Does your girlfriend even count as a friend? If not, then your only friend was Damian.
Not that you minded. You found you fit in better here anyway than you ever did with the plastics.
