Sometimes I think about the fact that there’s a subset of transfeminists that think trans people can be liberated without Black liberation as well and it truly boggles my mind. Like. White supremacy is what oppresses YOU too!
Like. How you gonna abolish white supremacy to liberate yourselves without actually abolishing white supremacy completely? They will not let you simply Blair White your way into Elite Crackerdom if you betray enough people of color, you can’t fucking save yourself by sacrificing us.
Thats the secret, many of them don’t want BIPOC liberated, what they actually want (whether they realize it or not) is them and their friends to get to experience the full benefits of white supremacy without being considered a “lesser/failed white”, including the full benefits that come with the systemic oppression of BIPOC instead of a neutered version.
Marginalized whites like to say “they want us all dead the same” (#AllLivesMatter) but the kicker here is that (often through horrific torture and conversion practices) marginalized whites are still viewed as at best a disgraced white who might be “fixable” and at worst useful tools for the subjugation of nonwhites and benefit of “good” whites, to be eliminated once no longer usable.
They will never recognize you as their equal without you giving up everything that makes you, you. Stop sacrificing us to them and rip out their throats for daring to try and make you.
and this is an active leg up that transmisogynoir offers to non-Black trans women. "be racist, itll be easier for you", and so many people actively take that offer, and its fucking vile of them
Recently I’ve learned that I love a period piece and historical fiction. Ima eat it up every time esp when the theme is something related to Black history, African Traditional Religion, or Hoodoo.
I love The Golden Girls.
Ya’ll don’t have any idea how fucking brave and needed these plot lines were.
This was before Ellen came out.
This was before civil unions.
This was before Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.
This was when your ass could be fired, blacklisted, and shunned with no legal protections for even being hinted at being gay.
And the Golden Girls said “Fuck you, Fuck this, we’re doing it anyway.”
I think it should be noted that Blanche’s quote about AIDS is also “It is not god punishing people for their sins” and that the episode also deals with slutshaming.
I don’t know if people realize how much activism these women did for gay right and during the aids crisis. If you think about it they were all long established in Hollywood and Broadway. They had tons of friends personally affected and dealing with the aids crisis. Estelle Getty lost a nephew. I think they helped plant seeds in people who watched Golden Girls that helped make things a little more normalized and mainstream.
